I'm not sure if somebody in this thread already mentioned this, but lots of sources tell me that Invader Zim was inspired by that anime we all (most of us) know and love: FLCL / Fooly Cooly. Or maybe it was the other way around... but yes, I'm pretty sure that IZ was inspired by FLCL.

I find it quite exciting that my favorite American cartoon was bred from one of my favorite anime. ^_^' I've no idea why such a show would be canceled, I mean nothing that I can remember was that offensive, even for the children's channel [b]Nickelodeon[/b]... but maybe I could find DVD's of it somewhere.

It was cancelled because it was expensive. And no, Invader Zim is in no way Japanese. Its style is its own, the style of Jhonen Vasquez, the creator. It was not inspired by an anime, given that an employee for Nickelodeon tracked him down after reading one of his comics, SQUEE and she said that she liked his style, and proposed a show to him.

Zim, before the show was created, could be seen on posters in SQUEE! Like I've said before... It's not an anime, and the creater never wished to draw anything that people considered "anime-y", so to quote.

God how could such a great show be canceled? it was INGENIUS! I loved that show, I loved it good. How can you not love Zim or Gir? They were awesome. The music was good too and the stories have me laughing so hard I can't catch a breath. But alas my Tallest, I am stuck here with only three measley seasons of the show. Thank god there are still fans at Hottopic, otherwise there would be no Zim supplies for me!

I love Invader Zim. It was the best thing ever. But they went and got ride of it :animecry:. Boy was I pissed. Thats ok, because my older brother wants them on dvd. Which means we'll get them.
