satan665
Hopefully this is alright to do, but do the visitors of the anime subsection really want people to keep making hundreds of "favorites" threads? Personally I find them annoying, but I leave it to you. Please answer the poll. Should we continue to make Best anime character etc. based threads? Yes or no
r2vq
Three things. 1. Even if the "for Favourites" got the most votes, I doubt it would change the Moderating teams mind since favourites still clog up the board and are generally annoying. 2. Most of the favourites threads are created by what some people call "n00bs". People who don't know much about this forums and will probably have difficulty locating this thread and voting. 3. Although it has to do with the Anime Section, does the poll really have much to do with Anime? I like the way OtakuBoards is run. ^^ Though sometimes I wish there were more moderators. -ArV
Solo Tremaine
I like the way OtakuBoards is run. ^^ Though sometimes I wish there were more moderators.
You and me both >.>; Anyway, I don't think it's really fair to scrutinise the threads that are created. Yes, the favourites threads tend to be very simplistic in what they ask and there are only so many times that you really want to read the same replies over and over again. But it's still a thread that people are welcome to create providing the correct amount of effort is put into maintaining its quality. In the end, they're simple and let people say what they want to say. There are times when I've enjoyed writing out posts in these threads more than others; explaining which of my soundtracks I like the best, for example, or which anime song particularly interests me can be really satisfying. I don't object to the ones that are detailed and have intelligent discussion in them. It's stuff like 'omg i luv trunks hes so cool an i lik his hair' that isn't what anyone really wants to read. But anyway, there are so many different favourites that can spring up that to ban them all would greatly reduce the forum's activities. I understand that most of them get closed within the first ten or so posts (and if it's a duplicate thread then it'll probably be merged or closed), but then it's up to the better members to try setting an example of what should or shouldn't be done. But if you don't like them, don't read or post in them and the moderators will deal with anything that goes against the Rules. You're not obliged to look at anything you don't want to, heh.
Dagger
(Note: I moved this thread, as I think it would be a better fit for S&F.) I don't love favorites threads, but they can be well-done, and ruling them out altogether would just be way too draconian for my tastes. Your best option in this case is to make interesting alternative topics to distract people from constantly chattering about their new favorite bishounen. :catgirl: ~Dagger~
satan665
I pretty much agree with every comment on here, I just wanted to see if I could get a feel as to how many people liked them or hated them. I don't like them, but never wanted to make it seem like they should be banned (though I guess it reads otherwise).
