Gentle
Even though I highly doubt anyone on here would, I was still wondering if anyone has heard or is following the story line of R. Kelly's "Trapped In The Closet." Right now, parts 1-5 are out and coming soon are 6-10. If you're lucky it's easy to catch the video of the beginning on at night. It's rare someone on OB actually listens to R&B but it's just a thought.
Manic Webb
I started a Trapped in the Closet thread a while back, which was probably pushed back a few pages. I'd ressurect it, but I just don't have the strength (curse this summer heat). It's just as well, as that read had a few pointless replies about R. Kelly keeping little girls in his closet. Anyway, I saw vh1's 30-minute special, where they played all 5 music videos. My local radio stations also love playing the songs all in a row, not including the commercial break that interrupts the songs right around chapter 3. I think it's a pretty interesting concept. You start off with the typical story of a man sleeping with another woman, and it erupts into this massive, wacky tale of cheaters cheating on cheaters. I'm not sure if Kelly's decision to narrate the thing so linearly is a stroke of genius, or proof that the man should never attempt to write anything other than an R&B song. IceRose
R.Kelly should really start on his own soap opera. This trapped in the closet sagga has been as equal and painful as getting hooked on soap operas. First the man sleeps with the lady, the lady's husband gets in the room and finds him there, then the ladys husband's gay lover steps in and then R.Kelly tries to get home and then a policeman stops him, the same policeman is actually R. Kelly's wife's lover. Man is a whole soap opera.
Semjaza
I've seen the videos and heard all the songs (I've listened to all of TP3 Reloaded, if you can believe that) and I honestly do not see what the big deal is here. It's nearly twenty minutes of the same water drop beat while R. Kelly tells one of the most ludicrous stories I've ever heard in my entire life. It's full of some of the most hilarious things I've heard in a song and made even more hilarious by how passionately R. Kelly tries to play these things off. Why is he waving a gun around when no one is threatening him? "I can't believe it's a man!!" Give me a break. People are making a big deal of "unique" idea to do this in chapters. It's epic and never been done before according to a DJ on WGCI here. Yeah, R. Kelly invented the concept album, just like Puff Daddy (or so he was called at the time) "Invented the Remix". I can see getting some sort of humor enjoyment out of this and R. Kelly has a decent voice, but man, this is one of the dumbest ideas in the history of music.
