Banner Gallery?

Would it be possible for OBers to put together banners that would be in a banner gallery for users to put in their signatures? Just like the avatar gallery, there are alot of user-made ones in there, so why not a banner gallery?

I'm sure there's a reason why it's not created, as I doubt I'm the first to think of this.

Interesting, most interesting.

I don't recall this idea every being brought up before, but that doesn't take away from the fact that it is a rather intriguing idea. I suppose one of the reasons it hasn't be done before it the storage capacity it would need to do something like this, as well as the fact that banners are by nature like avatars something person made by the user. Still given the opportunity I don't see any reason why people couldn't submit fairly generic banners that others could go through and pick if they liked the look of them.

I personally don't see any reason why it could be done.

No offense Gavin, but your post confused me.. >_>;; Conflicting could's and could-not's, you see. But anyway, onto the topic, yes?

A banner gallery is actually a really cool idea. I remember when I was new to OB (and boy.. was I new.. @_x) and I wanted one of the cool banners most of the other members were parading around. Though I know they weren't actually parading. Just felt like using that word. =P But I'm not sure it could be done. Then again, I know nothing about running a forum, so don't take my word for it. ^_^;

It's not a terrible idea, but I just don't think that it's all that great of an idea either. I can understand having an avatar gallery: it's one of the first and most basic of all identifying marks of a person. However, you must admit, they all seem to blend into the same person. And I think thats what would happen if there was a banner gallery.

I do quite like the idea, but then again, lots of people liked the idea of Communism and we know how that turned out...

I think it's one of things that's a great idea if it worked properly. But I don't think it could for a couple of reasons.

?Quite a few people (I'm not saying all) like to have matching sets, so they'd end up having different banners and avatars that may not go well together.
?New members would see the thread and you just know they would end up going "hey i like that Star Wars banner but Yoda sucks so do one with Darth Vadar because he owns and put my name on it plz." It would be another request forum.
?Also, banners are more artistic than avatars and most of the time match the artists feelings/likes/inspiration, so it would be hard to do good banners for the masses unless it was just pictures cropped down to size.

Don't get me wrong, I think it's a great idea, I just can't see it working out too well given the above, and other people's, reasons.

If you want to start a thread with banners for people to use and you have that thread open for others to submit their banners, that's entirely up to you. Knock yourself out.

Some people do find it confusing, but very often in my posts I argue both sides of an idea because I'm typing as I'm thinking, as though I were actually talking with someone about it. The simple reason is when I outline an ideas merits and it's drawbacks I can compare both and formulate an opinion on whether or not I agree with the idea from there. Confusing yes, but that's just how I am.
