I'd just like to say that I like this new theme for OB! The changes are very subtle but I really do like the look. There's just something about the slightly changed images that caught my eye right away (which was a good thing in this case). Nice job ^_^

Wow, I had no idea that the main skin had changed. That's what I get for using Geisha, I suppose.

At any rate, I completely agree. I like this version of Liquid a whole lot better than the old one--I may even switch over to it for a while, should the fancy strike me. It's very snazzy.

EDIT: Good heavens, I love the new Edit/Reply buttons. :animestun

Some things are still changing, so your browser make take some time to load everything.

This is not intended to be a whole new skin, though. I'm just taking Liquid and freshening it up in a few small areas. Glad you like the changes though. I will do a few more tweaks over the coming days and we'll get that single pixel white space at the top repaired too.

I'll also soon be introducing The Nexus and a couple of other little enhancements. So yeah, stay tuned I guess. ^_^

Holy Christ, James. I am totally loving this. It's so much cleaner and "elegant"--as you put ^_^ It most certainly is.

The sidebar. I absolutely dig that. It looks as if you're looking down the side of a building in Tokyo. I'm glad you informed me who is now occupying the header. Having him to look at every time I sign-on is a great joy ^_~ Gotta love that crazy Naruto. The colors are phenominal, granted it's still blue, but the more creamy silver gives the site a fresh and kinda omega-ish look.

Yes, omega. To be honest, the site looks like The Mechancial Animals' CD case O_o

I'm so excited over the little "go" buttons XD I don't know why...but they're too cool. And the Jukebox looks spectacular..Very snazzy and heavenly!

Edit: Now I see what Dagger was talking about. I am really liking the "reply" "edit" buttons :p

I'd be more worried that your hue change of the main header bled through to the guy's shoulder...>_> Unless of course that's what it was supposed to do. Heh.

For some reason the Jukebox never loads for me unless I use my AOL browser, and then it only works half of the time. *shrug*

And yes, the Reply and Edit buttons are hypnotic.

EDIT: Neil r teh pwn'd. ^_~

[I think it was the .jpg format that was the problem. Though all of those problems shouldn't have stemmed just from a file type. Hmm, odd.]

I re-made the top banner, as it was degrading in quality each time I saved it. It's correct now, the pinkishness is gone and there are no hue problems.

HHmm. I guess I need to clear my cache. Perhaps you could put in one of those update informers in the header code, to clear cache. Nevermind. It sounds good ;)

Edit: After a couple of refreshes, it seems to have changed most things. But I don't feel that this Launch Jukebox button fits in as well as the previous one did. It just doesn't blend in well. Perhaps if it appeared more embedded?

Yeah, it's not quite what I'm wanting at the moment. I'm still going to change and tweak a few things over the coming days I suspect.

Basically, all of these graphics were made when I'd been without sleep for about twenty four hours. So that can be blamed for any inconsistencies, hehe.

But yeah, I'm not entirely happy with the Jukebox icon either. And the New Thread and Reply buttons (the bigger ones) have yet to be made. The ones that are there right now are just placeholders.

I was reading this with the old Liquid Skin. Obviously I needed to refresh for the new skin to load but...wooow. Annie, I so agree with you, that man is yummy >> You must tell me who he is later.

I really like this new skin, but I agree with Baron about the Juke Box...I think the side bar being all blue with the grey box breaking it up spoils the effect, but I do love it's design.

It doesn't look quite bad, but the fonts you used for the buttons is terrifying and I think the menu bar could use more gray in it.
Also the animation of the reply-to-post button makes no sense. It doesn't look like something that would suddenly turn blue, it just doesn't O_o. The colour of the buttons looks to dark, possibly because of the solidness of the font.
The jukebox doesn't even look so bad apart from the text. It just needs more gray in the menu bar if you ask me, instead of the background image of some street-ish thing. And I now noticed that the jukebox' border could be a pixel less wide.

Interesting, most interesting.

I think this is definitely an improvement on the old Liquid style, which I've had OB set to for as long as I can recall. Elegant is certainly one way that it could be described, though it has a kind of futuristic edge to it that Liquid has always had. Those Edit and Reply buttons really do fit the bill, like Neil said there's something oddly hypnotic about them, the Jukebox needs work to make it blend in better with the rest of the side bar, though I have no doubt that James will fix it up rightly. That has to be Cloud in the banner. For a little while last night, the sidebar showed a full picture of him. Shwaa.

Yes, the tweaked Liquid is indeed spiffy. ^^

Nope, it's adult Naruto ^-^ I asked James that exact question last night, lol. Well, I asked if it were a FF character. But it is Naruto. Either way, both characters are hot.

That's... Naruto? My god...

I thought it was a girl -- no kidding. Just ... wow. I'm awestruck right now.

I'm still not entirely happy with the Jukebox button, but I'll get there.

One of the main things with V7 was that people didn't know they could click that Jukebox button and actually bring up a music player. Even people who have been here for a while were surprised. Perhaps this is because it looked too much like an embedded part of the navigation menu and it was easy to ignore. The current version has a little broadcast animation on it, which may give it a bit more prominence.

But I really hate useless and annoying animation on sites, so I've tried to make it subtle with a nice gap between movements. It's still not quite right though, so I will probably continue to tweak it; you will no doubt see further changes to this default skin.

It's amazing how a few minor changes can make the site look quite fresh, though. I am still happy with the Liquid skin, but this is my opportunity to further refine a few areas that I wasn't as happy with before.

People have suggested that I put the skin up for download for people to edit and I've talked about that before so I won't do it again here. What I will say, though, is that I am planning something that goes a little further than that. Whether it pans out or not, I don't know. Either way, it should be good for OtakuBoards.

This revised Jukebox button fits a lot better, I agree. Good work James. I think that, when compared to the prior Liquid banner, there is perhaps too much grey in this one, but it's just because thats a deviation from the previous two banners - practically all blue.

This freshened skin will probably grow on us all, I'd imagine. Thanks James.

Naruto...? No way... Where are his little whisker-thingys?

Then again, I'm only into the sixth volume... and the character works nicely in the banner regardless of who it is.

To keep this even just a little bit relevant, to me it seems like the sidebar doesn't go very well with the banner. I guess it's just odd to see solid, clean color and then mixed... I don't know how much sense that made, but it's just a thought. =P

EDIT: Nevermind, now that I'm used to the theme it looks fine. It must have been the newness or something that made it look odd. =/
