Anime Best Anime Girl Tournament Finale: Asuka (Evangelion) vs. Lucy/Nyu (Elfen Lied)

This is it! The psychotic second child and pilot of Eva Unit 02 vs. the psychotic badass with the naive alternate! (AKA someone other than the enigmatic first child)

My only rule is to not spam up these threads. Don't just post the character that you voted for's name. If you're going to say who you voted for, then explain why you voted for who you voted for, even if that explanation is just quoting someone that shares your sentiments. It doesn't need to be complicated. Even something as simple as "I voted for Asuka because she has a lot more spunk than Rei" or "I voted for Asuka because she has a lot of spunk" will work. So long as it has more substance than "Asuka" or "Asuka's better", its fine.

My money's on Asuka. But I wouldn't count Lucy out... she did beat Rei!

I like Lucy, and Nyu's really cute, but I'm going to have to cast my vote in Asuka's direction.

As always, I like Asuka's spunk, and the fact that she had one of the most kickass mecha battles ever in EoE. Further more, she pesters that annoying wimp Shinji!

This is the first time that I've ever argued against Lucy... all I can say is that she [spoiler]ripped Nana's arms and legs off.[/spoiler]

[spoiler]Now I can understand defending yourself, and not wanting to go back to the crappy existance in the lab, but Nana was begging for mercy when she ripped off her remaining arm and leg.[/spoiler] Das not cool.

Asuka's also one of the few anime girls that actually looks better than Nyu. (I can't say cuter, because "cute" doesn't exactly describe Asuka)

I [i]hated[/i] Lucy the first time I watched that episode--and I hated her even more afterward, when [spoiler]the show delved a bit more into Nana's point of view.[/spoiler] The fact that I'm voting for her anyway sort of goes to show what an emotional rollercoaster Elfen Lied is. Only those who have seen the full series should read this: [spoiler]the puppy scene is what made me (grudgingly) forgive Lucy. I mean, I'd probably become pretty homicidal too, after witnessing something like that, and Dicloniuses are naturally a little sociopathic to begin with.[/spoiler] It's a true shame that the OVA episode, which explains [spoiler]how Kurama captured Lucy, and why she didn't kill him in episode 1,[/spoiler] appears to remain unlicensed. Maybe I'll break out volume 2 tonight...

The way that Asuka treated Shinji was mild compared to the way that I would have treated him if I were forced to be his roomate. That whiny punk was in serious need of an *** whupin and a wake up call... Asuka hit him a few times, but for the most part, she just yelled at him when he was being a whiny little bastard. Most people would have done the same, or worse.

[spoiler]That wasn't Asuka that Shinji met in the movie. That was Shinji's perception of Asuka. As such, Asuka isn't directly responsible for what happened there. Besides, I think that Shinji's choking Asuka was worse than anything that Asuka had ever done to him.[/spoiler]

Joking aside, I cast my vote for asuka a) because I've never seen elfen leid (unfortunately) and b) psychomode pilot of unit 02 really makes me laugh.

[COLOR=DarkSlateGray][SIZE=1]I'm not entirely sure an Asuka vs. Lucy/Nyu Tournament would be viable since everyone and their mother has seen Evangelion and only a fraction of that have seen Elfen Lied, but regardless of that, I threw my lot in for Lucy/Nyu.

Sure I found Asuka a little cute, and her arrogance was almost charming to me, but overall as a character I found her sub-par.

On the other hand Lucy and Nyu were excellent characters by far. Beautiful. Deadly. Cute. Childish. Lucy was equally as loveable as Nyu [spoiler] Though Lucy tearing Nana's limbs off was a bit much, I could understand being a bit cold after being couped up in a lab most of my life and the traumatization of the puppy incident. Felt bad for Nana, but I like Lucy more anyway... [/spoiler] Nyu's child-like behavior and love for Kouta was sweet and fun to watch.


The bottom line - Lucy/Nyu > Asuka[/SIZE][/COLOR]

I wouldn't take that list for too much. Some of the lower vote counts were just cases of popular characters going up against really popular characters in the first round. (for instance, if I had put Nana in Kei's spot, I'm pretty sure that her vote count would probably be up in the 30s at least)

On the after thought, the only thing that really stumps me is how stupid annoying ol' Kaola got so far. How anyone can like a character that annoyingly wierd and energetic is beyond me. She needs to be tied together with Ed from Bebop in barbed wire and left to bleed to death.

Heh heh heh. this was probably the funniest thing about the tournament, it made the whole thing really enjoyable to take part in - especially watching your mounting frustration as Kaolla advanced further.
