[COLOR=blue]If there's something to criticize, it's watching porn, not what type of porn you watch. IMO, there's nothing wrong with which variety of porn is your flavor.

I think you misunderstand most people's criticism about anime porn. There are just some people who take the admiration of anime too far, so far that they prefer anime to the real deal. I think that's a line you really have to "self-learn" to cross. That is, something is wrong with you if you feel that way.

No one should be criticized for watching anime porn. However, you should keep in mind that if a person ONLY watches anime porn, why he/she chooses to do so. There are valid reasons, such as porn being really bland and/or disgusting, but there are more deranged reasons as mentioned above.

I'm not saying any kind of porn is ok, but if you watch porn, the type shouldn't matter. Just remember not to let it affect you to such a degree that it conditions you into thinking there is something more beautiful than the human body. ^^[/COLOR]

In any case, I think that one's hentai-watching habits should be kept largely to oneself. Unless you're talking with friends who don't mind, don't talk about it in mixed company. I really do not see the problem with porn. Any kind, really (except for snuff ones, if they really exist). I'm assuming that over 50% of the people who watch porn are males, and seriously. Guys are guys. Yeah, it's not very cool when I'm working with some guys on a science project and they suddenly start talking about their latest porn-scapade (because I REALLY don't need to know what so-and-so did to that person in this porno), but I don't care about the fact that they do watch it.

Don't read next paragraph is you're someone who is totally against porno or just doesn't like the idea of talking about it.

Me? I watch all kinds of Anime. But, alas, because I am a heterosexual male with my own theories about things, I stay away from the Yaoi. Yuri and regular Hentai are my thing, and in my case, I prefer the comedy or perverted Animes where I end up getting a screenshot of up the main characters skirt, or even two Yuri females rolling around in a sleeping bag naked. (See Puni Puni Poemy Anime series.)

While I can safetly say, that Porn is Porn nonetheless, nothing is wrong with it unless your addicted, then you need help. :animeswea

First off, if you haven't known the person long enough or well enough to know if they are comfortable around that type of conversation (which, really, I don't think any circle of close friends should talk about), then it's flat-out rude to bring it up. And so, you shouldn't be surprised if that a person mocks or ridicules you, since you don't know the person well enough to know their reaction. In this sense, you are setting yourself up.

This is a matter of tolerance is it not? Judging someone by what they watch or like is usually not a good way to find out what someone is truly like. Such assumptions are always a bad thing as you are making a decision without enough facts to back your statement up. Watching things like hentai, yaoi or yuri do not necessarily mean that the person in question is bad somehow.

However I do agree with what others here are saying. It is not a good idea to force your preferences on others by insisting on telling or even showing them the materials. I personally do like hentai, yaoi and yuri, yet I find it extremely distasteful when people I do not know make a point of telling me explicit stuff or showing me explicit pictures from such series. When someone is doing that I feel that they are being disrespectful, as they know that many people do not like such things.

There is nothing wrong with admitting you enjoy such types of anime, but running around with explicit pictures to show people is in my opinion wrong. I also feel that discussing it in depth with others unless you know that they also like the particular show in question is also wrong.

People are not naturally open-minded. You know the saying "we fear what we do not understand"? Well, we make fun of it, too. If you don't want to be yelled at/derided/flamed, it's a simple matter of not telling the wrong people.

I'm not saying it's right or wrong for people to get upset at others about sexual stuff, be it orientation, fetish, or porn-watching habits. I'm saying that it's going to happen regardless, and you have the option not to bring it up if that's the probable case.[/color]
