PiroMunkie
Okie dokie, this 56K modem(or dial-up in general) is getting on my nerves really quick, lol. I was wondering if anybody here knew of a cheap cable service or such so that I can put this computer to some actual use, cause let's face 56K is ok for small stuff but it is just plain useless on the larger perspective, lol. So any help you people could give me would be very helpful and I'd appreciate it very much. Thanks :)
Ice Dragon v2
Cable price really depends on your company. Mine, for example, is Cablevison Optimum Online. It's like $15 - $20 a month. Just call your local cable company for details. And if you're lucky, go to the WIZ cuz they got free trials there and give you all the details you want. RicoTranzrig
Cable service around here is about 30-40 bucks a month...including installation...its good though 'cause you don't have to be close to the station like ADSL and its really an inexpensive form of broadband...but there is that myth that if the entire neighborhood's online...cable speed slows...is that true?

That's exactly true. It's actually a section of the neighborhood that you live in. I give about a square mile at least. If people in that square mile get cable, the entire section is slow. For example, if you want to d/l music or movies, the average rate is like er.......40 KB/sec. If everyone goes on at the same time, it will cut it to 10 KB sometimes even 5KBs. That's the only disadvantage to cable. Other than that, everything else is fast.

PiroMunkie
Hehe, it's kinda funny how you people are listing $30-$45 a month when I did say cheap cable service, lol. The only person that has really given that kinda info would be IceDragon, but it's good to the disadvantages of what I could be getting into also. Though, I don't think people in my general vicinity can afford cable hook-up either, so if I ever do get it, I should be just fine, lol :D Thanks for your help...
Lotus
You can try aol, it's fast and cost $20/month Cable - $20 for the first 6 months, after that is $30 from where I lived

RicoTranzrig
Personally, I've had problems with AOL...sure it's incredibly easy to use...but since I'm under windows XP, it doesn't support AOL, nor do some of the demanding online apps...mainly multiplayer games.
