Ice Dragon v2
[Note: I highly suggest that you should understand the topic before posting your answers because I don't want a load of spam in here.] Now then. The Enlightenment was a time period in history (like late 1600s - early 1700s) where everyone used reason to question things. During that time period, reason was used for all things like science, class status, business and how the gov't should run things. Now today. The Enlightenment also increased the thought of reasoning with authority. What I'm saying is do you think Pres. Bush is exceeding his power??? Think back on what happened a couple months ago. Do you think the so called "War in Afghanistan" is just some act of revenge?? Think about it. Use reason. Besides, this can lead somewhere. BabyGirl
I remember learning about the Enlightenment...either that or specifically the French Enlightenment...but either way I understand :) I don't think Bush is abusing his power. That is the whole reason for checks and balances, so that the president isn't some absolute power. I'm don't feel like typing my opinion right now just because I'm tired and my eyes hurt...but some other time perhaps :)
Hinata
I have to agree with the person above... If Bush as exceeding his powers then Congress is there to stop him....also if it's Bush having revenge..then don't you think Congress would have to want revenge also since they're allowing him to do this....
PiroMunkie
Lol, I could care less about government doings. If they keep out of my business I'll keep out of theirs. I don't even know what's going on in Afghanistan now, I don't know what the U.S. is doing right now, I just don't care. A president abuse his power? Were you born yesterday? Of course they do... I would, lol.

Of course, it's a personal decision and that's cool, but I think everyone should be knowledgeable on what our country is doing now.
Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
I will never forget that quote, it was posted up on my 10th grade history teacher's wall. He changed everything about the way I look at both past and current events. He made everyone love history (believe me, not a single person disliked his class) and made us all true believers that you should know what is going on in your world. Besides, like the quote says, if you don't learn from what we're doing NOW...what sort of things are you going to do when OUR generation is in charge of the country? Great food for thought.
RicoTranzrig
Yeah, it affects all of us, whether or not we're listening to the headlines. Especially people who are or are about to be adults...this war is a confusing war and no one knows how long it'll last...so its important to keep up to date so you can prepare for the worst, which will hopefully never come....
