Yuri nodded his head as the last spoke their story and backed away. He smiled and rose from the chest.

"Very good everyone...now please...form a circle around the chest..."

Yuri stepped outside the now forming circle and began to drag his sword in the dirt around everyone else...

"Now...here lies your next test." Yuri began to pace himself around the circle...focusing his attention on everyone...examining them all...

"You may be thinking to yourselves...why would a soldier like myself be teaching you all the arts of magic and sorcery. I am a master of both the arts....something that has been quite beneficial for me as a Commander."

"What lies within the chest are all the diamonds which you all acquired last night. And within them is a very power restoration spell to bring the dead back too life."

Everyone quickly turned their attention to Yuri with complete shock...

"That's why all the bodies remain in their original state...undisturbed...do you really think I would send such inexperianced fighters out there...their bodies will be completely restored..."

"But..." as he stopped his walking..."this is a very difficult spell to complete, and will require almost all of your strength and life energy to complete..."

No one flinched which pleased Yuri...their focus was amazing...all lowered their heads and closed their eyes...preparing for further instructions.

"Don't worry...if any of you fall during the process I will certainly catch you...I will be watchful of you all...keep this in mind...the lives of everyone who has died lies in your hands..."

"Now...lift your hands..." everyone did as instructed..."now...repeat after me..."

Yuri raised up his blade as he continued to circle them...he screamed out in a language that they all could understand in their native tongues...

"Engel auf hoch. ..Demons vom Grube. ..we Befehl thee, dieses Abgebot einzunehmen, uns hinter unsere Brüder und Schwestern zu bringen..."

Once Yuri finished the chant...the chest burst apart as all the diamonds raised into the sky...awaiting to return the souls of the dead...

OOC: Make this experiance whatever you'd like...after this you all can return to the center of the courtyard with further instructions...all those raised from the dead will all be leaving back to their homes. Anyone want to try and figure out what the chant means in english?:) Little hint to later on in rpg...even the chant i did before in rpg will be a clue...if you all were interested in that little info:)

Cira smiled to herself, hiding what she truly wanted to show. Training. Training was to blame for that. Emotions were to be kept underneith everything when fighting; when taking down an opponet. At first it was hard, but after just a few short months, and beatings, Cira got it.

Cira was the first to move again, noticing that Fayt wasn't quite paying attention again. Destracted by something. She brought both daggers back as she flew forward. Fayt slid his feet apart as he embraced for her attack. She ducked down, swirling up in a world-wind move, slashing with both daggers. Fayt held Casper firmly as both daggers slammed into it. Fayt didn't faulter as he came back with his own attack.

He pulled Casper down, slashing upwards at Cira. She swirled around, catching one blade with her right dagger as she flipped from the way of the other blade. Fayt followed closely behind her only to meet both Cira's daggers. She stared into the young man's eyes, her's heartless and steely.

Cira felt him flatter with his embrace against her. She brought her leg around and cracked him swiftly in the side of the leg. Fayt let out a soft yelp as he whirled around with his own leg. Cira jumped up and kicked out, hitting Casper with the under part of her boot.

He was getting better.

Cira flipped backwards, keeping her daggers in both hands as she came back up to face Fayt yet again. He waited for a moment, wondering why she had run away from him. Cira didn't hesitate, she threw one dagger towards Fayt. It landed with a thick thud into the ground. Fayt creased his brow with puzzlement as Cira came rushing at him. Fayt went to move, only noticing then that he was pinned to the ground by Cira's dagger. She rushed forward and lunged. Fayt threw Casper up to block Cira's dagger as he toppled over backwards.

There was a sudden rush of air across Fayt's face as he brought his eyes open again. He was staring up at perfectly crafted straight sword with small, delicate carvings running along the length of the blade. He looked past it at the face behind it.

"You're far more talented then I first thought." Cira smiled brightly, cocking her head to the side softly. "I didn't think I would have to use my sword with you. But when you went to knock me back, you slammed into my left hand leaving me with no other choice but to pull my sword from my back. Otherwise," Cira hopped up to her feet again, holding her sword freely at her side, "you would have taken my head off." Cira reached her hand out again and helped Fayt to his feet.

"Sorry to keep knocking you on your back, but I must say. It suites ya. You better make sure you find a woman that likes to dominate." Cira winked. "Thank you for the match. It was quite fun."

OOC: I figured most of it out I think, using a handy online translator, but I'm not sure about a few words. I'll try it out and feel free to correct me where I'm wrong.

Noah was a little suspicious and his senses were on high alert as Yuri instructed the group to make a circle around the chest. Since there were many of them, the circle was quite large but rather evenly spaced.

He was in complete shock when they were told that the diamonds retrieved were the keys to a great restoration spell that could revive the dead that lay outside of the gates, back in the harsh desertland. Yuri warned them that it would take almost all of their strength and life energy to do. Noah's face was set, he was going to do this no matter what. He could do anything with his alchemy power, all except revive the dead, and this was his chance to do it.

Noah closed his eyes and bowed his head as he fell into his meditation state, breathing in a set rhythm.

"Inhale...1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7...Exhale...1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7..." he followed in his head.

"Don't worry...if any of you fall during the process I will certainly catch you...I will be watchful of you all...keep this in mind...the lives of everyone who has died lies in your hands..." Yuri told them, Noah didn't want to be one of the people who fell.

Yuri asked them to raise their hands and he screamed out. He asked them to repeat it. When he finished the chest burst open and the diamonds whirled in the sky.

"Angels on high. ..Demons of Hell...We instruct thee to take this Offering to return our brothers and sisters... " Noah repeated the chant and continued with the others as they spoke.

Noah could feel the power and he could feel the effect setting in. He was getting tired, things were irritating him, his body wanted him to stop, but Noah was determined, he was going to do this, it was a once in a lifetime chance. He could hear the sounds of others falling from exhaustion, putting more pressure on those who were still standing. Noah grit his teeth against everything that tried to make him quit. He would complete it, this was another test, and he wasn't going to fail.

OOC: Sorry in advance for the length.
IC:

Leonardo's mind was plunged into worry when Yuri said it would take a considerable amount of energy. However, when he saw that no one else was showing signs of complaining or giving up, he resolved to do the same for his father. As he stepped into his place in the circle, he prayed.

Almight Father, please give me the strength to sustain my utmost effort. Amen.

And so it began with an immediate sap of his energy, feeling more like a punch in the stomach. All around him, he felt the other's life energy drain just as his was, and realized they would not complete the task alone. He fought with determination in his heart, praying as he felt his soul ache with pain.

Grant me your strength! he mentally casted a minor spell, which took life energy from wildlife, plants, and even people in the immediate vicinity. He concentrated, binding the pure energy together, and distributed it to his comrades to keep them conscious and able to contribute energy. The grass turned gray and wilted, and even a few of the onlookers had to sit down from their fatigue. But mentally, he felt the others relax, feeling the waves of energy supporting themselves from an outside force. When he felt the others' energy boost, he donated what reserves he had left, gave him to the spell and the others, and fell back wards passed out.

Carthre took his place in front of Takai, and bowed. She bowed back, and drew her sword. Carthre followed suit, and drew his.

"This is Koden," she said, "I wonder if your sword has a name?"

"I haven't developed a bond with my weapon yet. It is too soon to name the blade. But I hope I shall enjoy facing you in combat."

"And I hope to take that joy too," she said, before lunging at Carthre with the blade. He stepped aside, trained for guarding against surprise attacks. He was, however, a little surprised, and she did manage just to catch him on the shoulder. He winced, as it was the shoulder that had been injured the previous night. The jolt of pain that rocked through his body sent him to the floor, but Takai's sword was caught between two of his armour plates, and she tumbled to the floor with him.

He was the first to get up, and he swung his sword at her overhead. She only just managed to swing her sword up in time to block it, and the clash sent tremors through his arms, and probably through hers as well. He fell back, but brought his sword up for another swing. She managed to block this one as well, but the tip of the blade cut very slightly into her arm. A small rivulet of blood dribbled out of the wound and down the sword.

"Nice one," she said to him, smiling even through the pain.

"Sorry about your arm," he whispered, just out of earshot of the instructors. If they had heard it would have shown weakness.

"No worries. Sorry about your shoulder."

"We're square now, so don't worry about it," he said, and then pulled his sword quickly out of the wound, so as to minimise pain. Then he swung the sword around, and placed it on her neck. In a real battle he would have won. He smiled and tapped the sword gently on her neck. She smiled back, and tapped her sword. It was placed on his crotch. In a real battle, he would have been cut pretty badly.

"Call it a draw?" he asked.

"That seems fair," she replied, "But how do I know that as soon as I withdraw my sword, you won't just go for a proper blow?"

"Do I really seem like the kind of guy who would do that? It's completely dishonourable," he said, but, seeing the look on her face, he decided to give her the benefit of the doubt.

"We should probably both withdraw our swords at the same time. Does that sound fair?"

She nodded, and he counted to three. On three, they both withdrew their swords gently, and sheathed them. They bowed to each other, then faced the instructors...

(OOC: There you go, Kitty, I hope that's ok for you. If not, feel free to carry on the spar a little longer, for whatever reason)

Kain and Lio were locked together again, their swords scraping and scratching against eachother. Thier faces close to eachother grunting, trying to push each other off their feet.

This time Lio was successful in throwing Kain off his balance, Kain stumbled off and Lio saw this as a chance to swipe, he cut down. He missed Kain but cut a good hole in his cloak, Kain grabbed his cloak and looked at the hole. He dropped it and looked at Lio.

"That was close, too close for my liking." Kain had suddenly felt the peak of dark energy gathering Lio, he thought he could stop him again, he was wrong. Lio shot out the energy in a concentrated beam, Kain jumped out of the way, it grazed his leg. He landed on the ground and looked at his leg, it sizzled and was burned severly, Kain looked at Lio again.

"Son of a bitch." Lio smiled.

"Shouldn't under estimate a dark knight." Lio took a step and fell to his knee, he was breathing hard and looked tired, Kain smiled.

I can get him now Kain thought to himself as he tried to stand up, he stood up sure enough but he took a step and fell. His burned leg couldn't hold his weight, he stood up again and started limping his way towards Lio. Slowly dragging his leg in the dirt as he held Nimcaznim in his hand, he finally stood over Lio. Kain cracked his neck, Lio looked up.

"You wouldn't kill a man who is down." Kain looked up and started stroking his chin, he kicked Lio with his burned leg. It hurt greatly, but he would live. He lived through worse. Lio fell over and layed on his back with Balmung in his hand, Kain stood over Lio again. Holding Nimcaznim in both hands, high over his head.

"You kill me, you die too." Kain stabbed it down, he stabbed it right next to Lios face. Lio had his eyes open the whole time, Kain grinned.

"Most men cower when I do that. But you are strong, thats good to know. I will be happy to fight next to, if we get that chance." Lio grinned as well.

"I'll look forward to that day." Kain held out his hand, Lio gripped it and Kain picked him up. Throwing Lio's arm over his shoulder he sheathed his sword and started limping towards the Lord Sonne, when he reached them he handed Lio off to them.

"He's weak right now, he can't get down the mountain alone. I can't carry him because of my injury, so take him back to the castle." Kain waited for what he was to do next, Master Sonne told him to go down the mountian. Kani turned and limped down the hill. Mark Lucier move a step but Sonne held out his arm, stopping Mark. Mark looked at him.

"Master, you let him order you around like that?" Sonne looked up at Mark.

"Yes, he cares for people more then he lets on. He would be a good person, if he would just let it out." Mark held out his arms to take Lio, Sonne shook his head.

"I will take him. You watch them." Sonne had Lios arm over his shoulder and they slowly made their way down the mountain, Kain ahead 15 feet or so.

"God I hope the healer can fix this." Kain said to himself as he walked down the mountain.

Nepenthe smiled slowly and raised her arms, her sleeves falling down around her shoulders, exposing pale flesh. She closed her eyes and spoke softly, but as she did, she automatically felt a surge of energy. An enchantment cast on her aura long ago, that whenever a long spell of great power was required, she would draw on the auras of others around her. In time, she had modified this to draw from those whom it wouldn't hurt.

In a way, she had become an aura tainter and absorber herself, but now wasn't the time to think of it. Instead, she focused her mind, and her body quickly followed suit. As she concentrated, she felt, rather than heard, the rushing of a thousand wings, in the air, bursting around her like a snowstorm. She wasn't aware of her companions, only the intense bursting sensation of pain in her chest, and the knowledge that if she stopped, she would most certainly die. In response to the agony, she clenched her fists, then opened them again, spreading her fingers wide open.

The angina was nearly unbearable, but she knew it was necessary. Instead of fighting it, she tilted her head back, her eyes opening. Instantly, bursts of light registered on her retinas. With the rustling of feathers, she also heard the scratching and scraping of talons. Pain in her chest moved to pain down her exposed arms. Demons. Millions, clawing into her flesh, crushing her body into the ground.

But it was all an illusion. Nepenthe felt a wave crashing over her. A wave of comfort. Whatever it was, it was warmth and comfort and compassion. Either way, it sustained her, it gave her hope, and she knew at once that the pain would eventually subside. She felt something rising in her throat, and there was nothing left for it but to let it escape her lips. It was a chant.

"Bei Sie Mo Shuil, Chi-Rho."

At that, the pain vanished. She knew the spell was over. Automatically, her hands snapped down to her sides and she stumbled backwards, catching herself, and standing upright almost at once. She knew she couldn't faint. It wasn't in her to do it. Instead, almost right away, she rushed to Leonardo's side and placed his head in her lap.

"Infinite One, holder of all things, grant Your son life."

As she spoke, she slowly passed one hand over his face, her aura flexing around his gently. At her last words, his eyes opened and he found himself staring into huge dark eyes. Nepenthe smiled slowly, and helped him rise.

Leonardo?s eyes snapped open as he felt the coax of another aura, and the injection of life into his veins once more. In that instant, he saw the most horrific things he had ever experienced in his few years on the earth. The diamonds transmitted to him the images of every resurrected person?s death, a million times over, simultaneously. The single tear flowing down his right cheek failed to do the agony justice. He was at a loss for words.

?Are you well?? He struggled for breath, and looked at the woman who addressed him after a brief pause.

?Y?yes. Thank you for that,? he said, looking at her, but past her at the same time, still fixed upon the sickening death of the slain and resurrected. Another invisible wind calmed his nerves, so that he stopped crying inwardly, and ceased his stuttering.

?I also should thank you ? I notice it was your aura that gave me a brief respite.? She was composed, elegant, and bore traces of a smile on her face. Leonardo just thought, and let the silence hang for an even longer interval than the first, trying to give himself a moment to clear his mind.

?I?m sorry about that,? he said, meaning the pause in the conversation, ?it?s ? difficult, I suppose is the correct word.? Nepenthe nodded in silent understanding, probably experiencing the same flashback under a cooler guise than he.

?I know what you mean,? she said, almost no one in particular, the words echoing something more meaningful than Leonardo at the moment could grasp. Instead of thinking, he reached out with his aura, closing his eyes, and felt all that was around him ? the others still recovering from the chant, the dead grass, those whom he had fatigued in completing the spell, as well as Nepenthe and himself. To his surprise, there was a huge deficit in energy ? he had not thought of his sap of it so great. A pang of guilt struck him in his chest.

He kept his eyes closed, his palms facing outward towards the land. He prayed to his God.

Grant me the strength to complete Your will.

He had regained little of his former energy, but still set out to mend the vicinity of the loss of life. He searched within, draining himself until he was only a husk ? devoid of aura and magic ? and the grass became green again. The onlookers stood with their newfound legs, wondering what was going on, and the bird?s songs continued once more. Leonardo, on the other hand, struggled for breath and sat back down, devoid of a great deal of the energy Nepenthe had imparted.

?I?m sorry for wasting your energy,? he said in a tired, apologetic tone. She nodded wordlessly, with the same intangible smile hiding behind her lips. Finally, they parted to deliver her words.

"It wasn't a waste."

Fayt stood beaten, though in high spirits. He slung Caspar around his back, just as Shadow glided to his shoulder. "My personal gargoyle, eh" Fayt though laughing drawing the attention of Cira.

"Nothing, We should head back down the mountain though" Fayt choked out after abrubtly stopping his laughing fit.

"Ok if you insist" Cira smiled as they began walking back towards the path.

They walked in silence, Fayt's boots making a heavy thud, while Cira's feet seemed not to tough the ground. "Hmmm I wonder who she is, what her past is like, I think her eyes reveal alot more than she lets on" Fayt though missing a step and slipping backwards before catching himself. Shadow squawked loudly as he floated to the ground, while Cira let out a chuckle before giving him a hand.

"You seem to wind up on your back alot"

"I know it's a curse" Fayt laughed

"So what do you do and brings you here?, you don't seem like the rest of the people that are here"

Fayt looked up at the sky as if seeking guidance from someone before answering.
"Well I am I blacksmith's apprentice, thats how I know how to use weapons my master thought is wise of me to learn how to use a weapon, that way I could have better understanding in making one. Though I am by no means a weapon expert as you could probably tell, It's like I'm just exeptional with alot of things instead of really good with one."

Fayt took a long pause before answering the second part of the question "What brings me here I'm not sure I have one solid reason, you allready know one I wish to learn how to enchant. Well one would have to be to prove myself, probably the reason most are here for. Another to follow my father, he was a knight and was allways ready to protect and serve. I am no soldier, but I would still like to follow his example, I also made a promise to my master I would do this. The last is I want to see the world and learn, I have seen little other than this city and abit of the surroundings. I considerite a sin to myself to not learn what I can and see what I can. There is so much to see and learn and I have done so little." Fayt finished, his eyes glowing a looking towards a unpredictable but hopeful future.

"I see, if you really want to do it you will" Cira slowly worded as if her thoughts had been stirred to another time and place.

"Sorry I think I got carried away, anyways what about you?" Fayt expressed politely giving a smirk.

"Me, I....." Cira started, though they found themselves standing at the edge of the city. "Maybe another time" She laughed winking at Fayt.

"Fair enough" Fayt laughed joining her as the headed to the courtyard.

OCC: I hope thats ok demonchild, I didnt quite know what to put, but let me know if there is anything you want me to change ok.

Carthre and Takai walked back to the city together, laughing and joking about their spar. They both seemed to have bonded with each other, even though it was from fighting one another. Carthre had ripped part of his shirt off and given it to Takai, and she used it to stem the steady flow of blood from her arm.

"I still can't believe I did that to you. I'm really sorry," said Carthre apologetically.

"I've told you already, it doesn't matter. It hardly hurts at all now," she replied, wincing slightly, revealing to Carthre that her statement wasn't true at all.

"We'll get you some proper dressings when we get back to the city," he said, "And the healers can probably do something for you as well. They managed to heal my shoulder pretty good. Although you did open the wound again when you hit me there," he said, indicating a patch of blood on the shoulder of his shirt.

"I'm so sorry!" she cried, stopping and looking at the bloodstain.

"It's fine, don't worry. You cut me, I cut you. We're square. I'll just get the healers to look at it again, see if there's anything they can do about it on a more permanent basis."

"Ok, as long as you're sure," she said as they walked through the gates of the city back into the courtyard. The magic-users were there, as were some of the melee fighters, and Commander Yuri stood on a platform, towering above them...

OOC: I think read enough stuff....I've made my choices...if have any questions on why you weren't chosen...please feel free to ask me and I'll glady explain. After you read this post...do as you wish...interact with the others that have been chosen and get ready for tomorrow...when the story finally begins.

The masses were gathering as both classes were coming together from their unique trials. Some from on top of the mountain were already being treated too for their injuries. Those who were awoken once more by the ressurection spell were being treated and sent on their way back home with ample money and transportation plans.

The rest gathered before Yuri who stood up upon the stage once more with 6 figures...the warriors who came from the moutain noticed Lord Sonne immidiately being on the stage.

Yuri raised his hand into the air to get peoples attention...gradually in his patience they all fell silent...awaiting further instructions.

"I've made my decision...there will be no more tests..."

The crowd was histerical for the most part...people didn't understand why it was over so quickly...again...Yuri raised his hand and immidiately the people obeyed.

"These results are final...and will not be changed. I thank you all for your hard work...and if you'd like to continue to serve the Minbar army...do not hesitate to ask the soldiers who are among you today."

Pulling out a piece of paper from his gauntlet...Yuri began to read the names from the tiny scroll.

"Those who are named Carthre....Fayt....Leo....Nepenthe.....Kain......Noah.......and Cira....please...arrive back here tomorrow morning for your breifing and final training. The rest...God speed in your journeys home...and take this moment as a learning opportunity for the future."

And with that...Yuri lept off the stage and began to make his way towards the castle...

At Yuri's last pronouncement, Nepenthe curtsyed deeply and bowed her head, even as others around her walked away stiffly or angrily, many muttering curses or grumbling complaints.

In her experience, to those with power, it was best to show a certain ammount of deep respect and decorum. This trait, almost inbred into Nepenthe's mind, was inescapable. In any other body, she would've felt awkward doing it, but in the one she inhabited, it was something as natural as the breathing and as natural as her tendency to raise her hand over her face, covering all but her eyes with a sleeve. As Yuri left, she followed as soon as she deemed it acceptable. After all, she lived in the castle too. And instead of going to the women's quarters where she nearly always ended up, she went to the room she'd been led to earlier.

Once there, she undressed very slowly, moving almost as if in a dream, and she let the servants draw her a very hot bath. She ran a brush through her hair, counting the strokes until she surpassed one hundred exactly. Not only did it sooth her, it also gave her something mindless to do that aided in her health and general beauty. Then, quietly, she made her way, almost completely naked, to the bath. Once there she allowed another servant to tie up her hair and pin it back in a tight chingon. She sank into the tub quietly, almost as if in a dream. Once there, she closed her eyes, letting the steam rise around her. Almost unconsciously, she began to sing to herself, and the sound carried forward into the steam, parting it and changing it to suit Nepenthe's whims.

To anyone watching, it surely would've been an enchantng sight. A beautiful woman reclining in a tub, lilting her voice softly, with the steam around her forming pictures of woods, streams, wildlife, and bright, vivid flowers. Eventually she opened her eyes, and the face of her mentor appeared before her, reflected in the water of her bath.

"My child. Yuri has chosen you, and you will surely do your work..."

"Yes Mistress, I will. It is his request, and to that I must adhere."

"Do you grow weary of it?"

"I do not Mistress. I thank you for your instruction. It has saved my life....surely it has."

The older woman smiled, then faded into nothingness, and Nepenthe was left alone. She scrubbed her body all over, then rose and wrapped herself in a towel and sat at the window seat. She was very tired, but she couldn't rest just yet.

Leonardo stood in the courtyard, his eyes fixed tightly on Yuri as he addressed them. His muscles tensed in anticipation, and upon hearing his abbreviated name, he gave an inward sigh of relief, and immediately wanted to shout with joy. However, such an action would have been horrible sportsmanship, and so he kept his face neutral, bowing to Yuri after the announcement had been made, and walked to a nearby stream.

The birdsong was thick in the air, and the sunlight reflected magnificently off the clear water. He took a deep breath - his energy was still greatly drained, and the feeling of omnipresent fatigue was not only uncomfortable, but made him feel vulnerable and weak. Idly, he skipped a rock across the surface of the water, and waited for a fortifying feeling to return - the sign he was strengthened again. Another bird chirped, and he shot his head towards the branch from which it came, and behind it saw Nepenthe at a window seat, staring at a cloud, and wrapped in a towel. Immediately, he averted his glance, but knew she could sense his presence, his aura, his emotions already - the proximity was not far, and she appeared to be a powerful enchantress. Completely flustered, he continued his stroll around the grounds before entering inside the castle.

He wanted to find a chapel to pray in before returning to his room for meditation.

As Kain heard his name called he was relieved and surprised at the same time, he didn't believe he would make the cut. But he was disappointed that his new friend did not make it, he was going to be alone in the group again. He didn't mind, he could live with that. Lonliness was just a few of the pleasuers of life, most took it for granted, but Kain appreciated it more then what would seem normal. He looked around for his darkknight friend, he couldn't find him in the crowed, he sighed.

"Oh well, he's probably making his way back home right now. Hope he travels safe." He was about to walk away when Lio appeared, Kain smiled lightly as he saw him, gripping his hand and shaking it firmly.

"Sorry you didn't make it. Gonna be lonely without you and your dark energy." Lio smiled and chuckled.

"It won't be that lonley, you got 6 other people with you. You also got a very beautiful enchantress on your team." Kain chuckled this time.

"Remember, I'm a mercenary. Business comes first, besides if you looked at me lately I'd scare off anyone who got close to me. Besides she's royaltie, we'd never get along." Lio laughed heartly.

"Thats true, but you'll make new friends off this trip." Lio patted him on the shoulder.

"You'll also get to see the world in your travels, mabye a tropical paradise along the way." Kain shook his head.

"No, I'll be content with jsut seeing the world. When I retire I'll get my paradise." They shook hands a little long then released.

"I'll se you on the other side, Dark Knight." Kain said as he turned and walked away giving Lio no time to respond, Kains face hardened it had a mean scowl on it. Turning away any who dare get close to him. He made his way back to the castle and was in the hall way when he heard something he never heard before.

Watch yourself young one. Kain spun around with Nimcaznim in his hand, the voice was faint and only was a whisper. But it was plenty clear what the voice had said. the voice spoke again.

You're being hunted! Watch yourself! The voice said with emotion, still only a whisper. Kain growled, the voice faded and the halls went silent, Kain sheathed Nimcaznim and made his way to his room. He opened the door and walked into the room, closing it lightly behind him. He untied his cloak and threw it on his bed, he remained clothed and his weapons still on him, he walked into the bathroom and placed a hand on each side of the sink. He took deep breathes, he looked up into the mirror. He saw a boy turn into a real mam, a trainee becoming a professional, he laughed lightly as the thoughts poped into his head. He rubbed one hand on his face, across the stubs on his face.

"I need to clean up." He said to himself as he splashed water on his face and drew on of his knives, he looked it over to make sure it was still sharp. He slowly went over his face with the knive, cutting away the stubs and smoothing out his face. He cleaned off the knive and placed it back into its rightful place, he placed his weapons down, pulled off the armor and pulled off his shirt.

He used what water he had and splashed it on his back with one hand, cooling himself off and massaging his muscles, groaning slightly. He rubbed the water on his body, removing any dirt, grim, or blood that had collected over the past few days. He rubbed and massaged every acheing, sore muscle on his body, relieving the tension that had build up in the fibers of his muscles. He grabbed a towel and dried off the his upper half, he threw it over his shoulder.

He rolled his shoulders once and started to clean his hair, getting the blood, sand and dirt with a brush that was supplied for him, he stroked it hard. Getting knots out and everything until it was clean and knot free, he used the rest of the water and poured half of it on his head, soaking his hair and head. He shook his head and brought his head up quickly, his hair flying back and the water flying all over the walls. He dried it off with the towel and threw it back over his shoulder, he sat on his bed and rubbed his face with his hands. He fell on his back on his bed, on his cloak. Breathing slowly and deeply, slowly falling into a light sleep.

Eventually Nepenthe roused herself out of her stupor and dressed in a light garment. She had noticed eyes on her. They were probably wondering why she had made it into the final group, she and only five others. Mostly male. As far as she could tell, she wouldn't last against most of them, and besides that, her magic wouldn't be useful in a spar.

She could kill them.

"...I could kill them."

She shook her head slowly, clearing it again. Then, quietly, she padded across the floor. Her dress shifted slightly, white silk and satin brushing against themselves slowly. She sat at the window again, enjoying the moon, the clouds, and everything else. Her eyes opened slightly, then closed again. Her skin glimmered in the moonlight, but then returned to darkness as the clouds covered the brightness. Her body shivered in the wind, and she stepped down from the seat, and walked slowly towards the door. Her mind had rested enough, and her body would regenerate as she continued to avoid using magical energy.

Gladly enough, her own aura fed off everything around her, albeit very mildly, and not enough to endanger lives or to cause any sort of noticeable weakness in anyone. She smiled to herself as she continued walking through the corridors and relaxing as she went. It had been a busy day to be sure, but she figured she would be fine. Eventually she made her way down to the garden and sat at a bench. Her skirt flared around her as she sat and gathered in her lap, almost as if it was planned. Her smile was soft and gentle, but to those watching, nobody would know why she smiled.

Truth be told, she was merely happy. Happy to have survived thus far. And to be in a garden with flowers again instead of in the forest with murdereous animals or in the desert with crawling beasts.

Noah had his hands clasped tightly in anticipation. As Yuri called out his name, he was so relieved and emitted a quiet sigh, placing his right hand over his beating heart. He bowed lowly to Yuri and when they were dismissed, he returned to his room in a dazed like state.

He pinched himself to make sure he wasn't imagining it. He was so happy, and exhausted at the same time after the powerful spell they had cast. Noah was more excited that he had used a spell to revive, than getting into the group.

Noah felt dirty and made himself a warm bath. He lay and soaked in it until the water grew cold, he was contemplating about the spell, and the journey he would be going on.

As he thought about the others who were selected, he realised that Yuri had chosen an even number from each type. Three spell casters, and three warriors. Noah was glad that Nepenthe and Leonardo got through because he knew them, and he wasn't very familiar with the other three.

Noah realised how long he had been in the bath and quickly washed himself and got out, draining the bath. He dried off and quickly changed into clothes before he got cold or sick.

He was tired, but felt restless, so he left his room and explored a little. He came across some of the others that hadn't got through, he gave them journey mercies and they wished him luck.

As he headed outside, he bumped into a man that he had seen die in the desert, Noah smiled, the spell had certainly worked.

"Safe journey." Noah told him.

"Thankyou, good luck."

They nodded and parted ways. As Noah got outside, a cool breeze blew by. He inhaled deeply and exhaled heavily. He looked around and saw Nepenthe sitting on a bench. He approached her cautiously.

"May I join you?" he asked politely.

Nepenthe quickly drew her sleeve up to her face blushing a little. It was Noah. The alchemist that had given her the rose before Yuri and everyoen else. She smiled at him a little, and nodded slowly, her voice caressing his ears.

"You may."

"Thank you...Nepenthe?"

"Yes. You pronounced it right. Not many do."

He sat slowly, noticing the folds of her sleeves and the way one of them covered her face, leaving only dark eyes visible. Her voice was slightly muffled, but he didn't mind so much. After all, he figured it was part of her, something necessary in her life that she did without even thinking. He nodded slowly, looking out at the lush garden, taking in all the scents of the flora. He noticed the way the water fell across the moss covered rocks and the way the fish in the pond leapt and splashed and snapped at small water bugs. Nepenthe smiled slowly, as the wind bent a wisteria branch close to her body.

With one hand, she reached out and pulled a blossom down.

"I love flowers. Don't you Noah?"

"Yes I do. Although I don't know much about them."

She smiled at him again, plasing the wisteria in his hand and bidding him to inhale. As he did, he noticed the extraordinary scent rising upwards. It was heady, almost lush, and it was so lovely, he nearly fell backwards.

"So tell me Nepenthe, did you always live at the castle? I know you told me and the others about yourself, but I want to know a little more."

"...well, I was born here, to one of the servant women and one of the knights. I was such a pretty baby, they raised me to serve the royalty. I heard someone remarking that I was royalty myself. ....but I'm not. I'm a commoner that's been raised up by the kindness of her Mistresses. Like the rest of us under Yuri perhaps."

Noah reflected quietly. It was difficult to understand, but he figured that she would probably marry higher than her birth.

Carthre couldn't believe it when he heard his name called. When he thought back to his first encounter with Commander Yuri, he had made a complete fool of himself, and turned out looking like an idiot as well as looking dishonest. Even that far back, he remembered not thinking he had a chance in Hell. And yet here he was.

He thanked Takai for being such a good sport, and watched as she left the city, before disappearing up to his room. He cleaned the specks of blood from his weapon, taking great care and attention with it, took his armour off and polished it, and then stripped down and washed himself all over. Then he set his armour and weapon down and climbed into bed, needing all the rest he could before the next day.

Later in the night, however, he awoke, and found himself refreshed, unable to sleep any more. He pulled some clothes on and went downstairs, his hair flowing in the cool night air. He wished he had wrapped his travelling cloak around himself before coming out, as he felt the chill of the night on the parts of his skin which were exposed.

He crossed the courtyard, and saw two of the other successful entrants. He hadn't talked to them personally, though, so he didn't know their names. He decided to introduce himself.

"Hi," said, walking over to them, "I'm Carthre. I don't believe we've met."

"I'm Noah," said one of them.

"Nepenthe," said the other.

"It really is a beautiful night. You don't get them like this anywhere else in the world. It's this city, you know. Some people say it has magical properties, and can light up even the darkest night."

"It seems to," said Noah, looking around, seeing the stars clearly.

"I've never seen a night like this before, though. Nowhere in Minbar has this kind of night. It's breathtaking..." Carthre sighed.

"Is there something wrong, Carthre?" asked Nepenthe, sensing the tension resting on his shoulders.

"It's just...I don't know why Commander Yuri chose me for this mission. There were others in the ranks who were much better suited to the mission than me. And I made a complete fool out of myself first time I talked to him. God knows why he chose me."

"Commander Yuri must have his reasons," said Noah, "And I'm sure you will find out soon enough."

"I hope you're right, Noah..."

Kain was standing in his cloak and armor, watching his past, his dream was showing him his past. He didn't know why, or much care what was going on, he just watched as he saw his past self bring the food from the market, his brothers and sisters playing in the yard, his father working in the fields and his mother waiting for him at the door step. His cloak blew gently in the wind, leaves blew past as the wind picked up, his hood was over his face. He knew this dream would be like the rest, the monster would appear and slay everyone except him. This dream changed, young Kain approched him and tugged on his cloak. Kain looked down at the child, his face only slightly visible.

"Mister, what are you doing out here?" Kain relaized the child was talking to him after a moment, he cleared his throat and cracked his neck.

"I'm watching for a monster." The child looked at him oddly.

"A monster?" Old Kain nodded his head.

"Yes, it will be cloaked in black. If you see it, run until you reach the town. You understand." Young Kain nodded and turned, Old Kain grabbed his arm and turned him around.

"Tell your family as well, do not conceal anything from them. Understand?" Young Kain nodded and old Kain released him, he ran off back to his house. Kain looked at his hands, opening and closing his hands.

"I could feel him, I touched him." Kain said to himself.

Watch yourself, Your being hunted. Kain heard the voice, it was at normal voice level. He whirled around and saw someone he thought he never would, Nimcaznim, the demon. Kain closed his eyes and rubbed them, then opened them again, making sure he was seeing this. The demon approched.

"Watch yourself Kain. Your family was killed for a purpose, snake creatuers don't kill for pleasuer. They kill because they are ordered." Kain bolted at the demon and grabbed his finely made shirt.

"Ordered! Who ordered them to kill a farm family?" Kain yelled at Nimcaznim, the demon smiled.

"Thats for me to know, and for you to find out." Nimcaznim pulled off Kains hand and started to walk away, Kain spoke again to the demon.

"Why are you talking to me? Why now? And how?" Nimcaznim laughed.

"I can speak to you because you wield my bones and wear my skin, and I speak to you know because you are ready for me. Did you really think I would die that easily? Just be killed by a rookie like yourself. I was a powerful demon, I could have destroyed you."

"But you didn't. Why?" Nimcaznim chuckled.

"You ask too many questions for a mercenary. Just do your job and we'll be fine together. Now wake up." Kain sprang up, he looked around to see where he was. He sighed with relief to find out he was still in his room in the castle, he went into the bathroom and found his stuff still lieing on the floor, he picked up his shirt and pulled it back on. He strapped his armor and equipped his weapons back on and walked back to his bed, picking up his cloak and slipping it on. He walked over to the wind and saw the moon trying to shine through the black clouds.

"A perfect night for me." He looked down to the ground and saw three of the people in the group, he groaned.

"Better go meet some people." Kain said to himself as he left his room and made his way down to the group of people in the garden.

Cira bid fair well to those that passed her on their way from the city. Most seemed to be pleased that they were being sent home, and others upset. But Cira wasn't really intrested in what they thought, she wanted to know more about her new commrades.

Fayt seemed happy, yet disappointed that he was choosen as he wandered through the courtyard and back out into the city streets to find something to eat. She chuckled and shook her head at the boy. Such a charming lad. He was going to learn a lot during this little trip.

Then there were the three socerers that she had yet to meet. Leonardo seemed to be very dedicated to his "source", which seemed to be some unseen god. The only other female seemed high of herself, but powerful enough not to be taken lightly. Cira would have to keep her eyes on her. And then there was the other male, amuzing to be Noah since that seemed to be the only name that fit him. His attention seemed to be solely on the female of his cobat type. He would have to be watched as well, for if a conflict between Nepenthe and Cira came about, Noah may take Nepenthe's side.

Cathre seemed puzzled at his acceptance into the ranks with the others. But in her opinion was well suited for the postion, far more so then most of the others she had witness during the trails they faced. Then there was the mysterious mercenary, Kain. He seemed to hold something very powerful and hidden within his being, but was not allowed to show it. He seemed rather ruthless, yet able to enjoy himself when needed.

Now the one Cira was most interested in learning about was this Commander Yuri. She had only caught glimpses of the man that was suppose to lead them into whatever battle lay instore for them. But how did she know she could trust this man. He had put them through some unbelievable trials, and though he brought those that had died back to life, they still had died. You can't undo death no matter how hard you try.

Cira sighed as she realized her muscles were a little tired from the last couple days. It was time for a hot bath to ease the ache and some stretching to clear her mind. She made her way towards her room.

********************

After stretching and her bath, Cira decided to wander among the Castle walls. The cool, almost frosty air reminded her of home. Well, her Master's home any how. Where she spent most of her fondest memories at. Cira heard footsteps and turned around to see a man dressed in armor with full weaponary on.

"In a hurry?" Cira cocked her hips to the right and placed both hands upon them.

The man stopped before her and glanced at her appearance. She was dressed in soft satin that fell to the floor and covered her soft shoed feet. The straps were barely visible against her skin in the night as the front and back dipped down to expose much of her skin.

"You seem under dressed." The man said simply.

Cira smiled brightly. "I enjoy the cold more so than the heat, usually. What brings you out here?"

"Was going to meet the others." The man motioned towards the open window, where upon peering out Cira saw three others in the garden. Her smile broadened.

"Well I would love to join you in your pursuite to meet the others. I am Cira." She placed one hand on her abdomen and the other at her side as she bowed from the waist.

"Kain."

"Pleasure to meet you." Cira approached Kain and wrapped one arm under his. "Shall we?"

OOC: No problem at all DC.

Kain looked at Cira questionable as she wrapped her arm around his, she smiled up at him.

"Let us be going then." Kain said to Cira, they started walking through the halls. A few occupied the hall way as well, watching as a man dressed in full suit was walking with a woman who was skantly covered. Most of them were men, the would watch as she passed and follow her with their eyes as she walked away. Cira didn't seem to mind, Kain just kept looking forward unaware of them others, Cira spoke to him that broke the awkward silence.

"So Kain." Kain looked down to her.

"Yes?"

"What is your story?" Kain looked back forward and thought about her question, images of his past poping up in broken sequence. Random parts appearing to him.

"Family was killed by a monster. A man found me and now I'm a mercenary. Simple as that." Cira looked at him a little disappointed.

"Thats all?" Kain wasn't willing to give details to a stranger such as Cira, he nodded his head.

"Thats all." She sighed and looked forward like Kain, there was silence between them again. Kain spoke this time.

"I hear you an assassin." Cira looked up at him, Kain remaind looking forward. She went back to facing forward and responded to Kain.

"Yes, yes I am."

"So how many people have you killed to get to your level of expertise?" Cira was a little surpirsed that Kain would be so blunt with his question, Kain saw no reason to beat around the bush on such a question. Distorted questions lead to distorted answers, as Kain thought. Cira didn't answer his question she kept silent, Kain smiled lightly.

"Unwilling to share. Understandable, killing another human is not something anyone would share without a little encouragement. Me on the other hand will admit I have killed a few men to get where I am, I have taken a lot of jobs that require I use my skills to kill another being. Not always human of course, I have usually be called on to kill monsters." Cira face showed she was interested in the last part of what he said.

"What kind of monsters?" Kain looked at her this time.

"Demons, monster who hide in the dark, ones that attack during the day. Killed a few, walked away battered, bruised and scard. But still alive, lucky to be alive." Kain went silent and looked forward, Cira said something to him but it was over powered by another voice in Kains head.

"I told you to do your job. Not to flirt with some mortal! I told you to watch yourself, she could be hunting you!"

"Shut up. I'll do what I want and you haven't given me a job to do. And until you do I'll do as I please. And I'm not flirting demon, I have no time for people. I'm making an ally while I can, so butt out and talk to me when you have more details on the job you want me to do." Nimcaznim went silent. Kain smiled, he looked to Cira asking her what she asked him.

"How did you get those scars?" Kain rubbed his free hand over his throat and the one on his cheek, he sighed.

"That is a story for another day, we are about to enter the garden." Cira looked out as they left the inside of the castle to meet the people in the garden. Kain readied himself for what might come, always expecting the worse.

Fayt walked slowly in the streets, the path before him dimly lit by moonlight and torches. His original intention to find food betrayed his stomach, for he had no appetite. He was hungy of a sort, but not a hunger that could be filled with sustenance. It was a hunger that could only be filled with time, you could say that he was alittle uneasy of leaving all he knew to be home. Along with the dissapointment of those who weren't chosen, was he fit for what would transpire. You could say what he strived for was assurance.

"It is truely funny how you believe you are ready for something until it is apon you, the confidence you found quickly faulters before the reality of the circumstances, only to be replaced by uncertainty and longing followed then by understanding. "Well lets head back, I'd like to meet some of the others that will be traveling with us, after all it would be polite, and I am rather curious" Fayt said turning down a side street heading back towards the castle "Though maybe I should bathe first, I'm alittle dirty from the spar with Cira"

The walk to the castle seemed short, and as he made his way to his room he noticed majority of who was chosen gathered in the garden. He continues past this and hurried into his room, ready for his bath.

Cira smiled pleasantly as she took in the sight of all those that were sitting in the garden. "I hope you don't mind us joining you all. I figured it would be a fine night for us all to introduce ourselves before tomorrow's events. You knew know what Commander Yuri will have in store for us." Cira chuckled as she bowed.

"It is no bother," Nepenthe was the first to reply from the three that were already in the garden. She was dressed in a fine garment with her flowing sleeve drapted in front of her face. Though Cira was not accustom to females amongst the ranks, she was rather pleased to have another apart of this mission.

Cira's smile brighten as she curtesied in front of Nepenthe. "I am Cira, this is Kain," Cira waved a hand towards the man that stood behind her in full armor.

"Pleasure to have met you. I am Nepenthe and this is Noah and Carthre." The delicate socerer pointed to each of the gentlemen as she introduced them. They each bowed and gave greetings to both Kain and Cira.

They all seemed to fall silent for a moment, not sure what to say to each other when another approached them from behind. Cira turned and reconginzed the buddle of fabric that came towards them. She brightened her face with a smile as she approached the man for a friendly greeting.

"Fayt, nice of you to join us." Cira clasped his upper arm with her hand, or what part of his arm she could find amongst the blankets. He smiled and gave her a warm hello.

She turned around and pointed to each person that was among them, introducing them to the quiet Fayt. He lowered his head softly at each person and said hello.

"I must admit, that I'm surprised you were choosen, Fayt. Not that you're not talented in some manners, but there were far greeter warriors out there. Maybe Yuri thought it would do you good to be part of history." Cira playfully tapped his shoulder as she smiled playfully at him, then turning her attention to Kain, ignoring the conversation that every one else was saying.

I've found that these people of all sorts of talents and places to be intriging beyond words. Kain is strong, quiet and holding a terrible secret of some sort. His past is painful for him to remember and he seems to keep to himself. Even with that said, I can see why Yuri chose to have him apart of this mission. Then there's gentle Fayt, which I had the honor to spar against in one of Yuri's trials. He's young, inexperienced and almost naive about the world and I question Yuri's decision to place him on the mission, but maybe the Commander has seen something I have not. However unlikely that may it was still possible. Then Nepenthe and Noah who radiated with power beyond anything I had ever felt. It was best to stay in good graces with these two. The only one I have yet to interact with is Leonardo who seems to keep to himself for the most part.

My father once told me that the only thing a woman was good for was to bare children and to use to make bargins and alliances. The only reason I woman was worth more than that was when she was born into a wealthy family, then men from all over would try to win her heart, even though it made no difference whether or not she loved the man she married or not. For it was her father's chose in who she was to be married to. But I swore that he was wrong. No man that beat his wife and children could be right. And I proved that, not only to myself, but the world. His blood was my first to spill and I will forever charish its smell and taste.
