What would you do if anime died out?

The thought is absolutely gut-wrenching, a world without anime. Kind of hard to imagine, huh? Well, let's say that anime dies out. What would you do? What you take interest in? Would you go absolutely insane? I know I would. Here's a couple of quotes I got from American anime voice actors whom I asked the same question:

I don't think I could imagine a world without anime, because it's something I love
and do, really. -Vic Mignogna: Edward Elric Fullmetal Alchemist

Anime is something I've devoted myself to that really intrigues me and hightens my sense of enjoyment, I couldn't stand living without it.
-Richard Cox: Inu-Yasha Inu-Yasha

It's your turn now.

Honestly, I don't think anime ever will die out. It may lose popularity as our generation grows older, but it dying out? That's like asking what the Trekkies would do if Star Trek ever died out.

Maybe that's a bad analogy. (Closet Trekkie) :animeswea

Besides, anime isn't just going to be gone one day--like poof!-- but it'll probably be a long process if it does 'die' so to speak.

Then again, if an Anthropology class at some university in the US is using Samurai Champloo as part of its curriculum, then there's no worries.

I have to admit though, a world without anime? I'd enter myself into the funny farm. Or go full blown Trek, which ever comes first.

The thing about anime that if it vanished alot of anime based games or games along those lines (mainly your rpgs) would like go with it. Lol if you wanted to get technical you probably should say what if manga died out (or both if you want to be politically correct) because most anime is based off a manga.

Though if it did vanish I would probably organize a cult, start a riot, then organize a mass suicide.......Though i find the idea of it ceasing to excist quite outlandish because it is such an open way to express yourself and your feelings. I also agree with killer7 on buying anime's you havent seen.

I would probably be constantly depressed because even though you can buy the ones you haven't seen and read and watch those you have it would get to the point it would bore me. I would have nothing to do, my inspiration would be gone, my life would probably get really chaotic. I'd most likely become more rebellic than I already am. So I would definitely have to be put in the loony bin.

Let me quote the great Gloria Gaynor on this:

I will survive.

By that time, a new animation style will be in and I will be raving about it. I would have moved on, that is, assuming I live to see the day anime and its related franchises die out. But I assure you, them reality shows will die first. Anime had outlived Disco; it will surely outlive Survivor.

I would do absolutely nothing, as I know it won?t die. Rather animation will simply evolve as cartoons have ever since the first one was aired on TV. I think that with the advancements of technology that anime will change quite a bit over the years, but it will still exist. And if I don?t care for the changes then I will always have my DVD?s and Manga?s that I already own to enjoy.

Hm if everything that I'm reading/watching died midseries I would be to say the least mad. Only because I'm the kind of person that will hate a series but read it till the end because I have to know what happens. So I suppose I would make a mini journey to the holy land a.k.a several select manga-ka's homes, ask them my questions, get answers and feel closure. Ha, I'm so weird but it's the truth. As long as I can know what was going to happen I should be alright...

I don't think it's going to die out ever though, there will always be fans of anime.

A world...without anime? I hope that never happens in my lifetime or my kids lifetime. I would go insane to the point where life isn't important anymore. Hm...maybe not. Well if anime ever died out (which would never happen) I would take interest into art to regain the interest of the people who once where into anime. Would that count? I think everyone who is crazy about anime would go insane but then that would mean you have nothing better to do. I mean think about. To many people devoted their lives to anime and without people would just lose it. People should have many different interest beside anime just in case it does sooner or later (which in my case is never) anime does die out. As for me, if anime does lose its flavor I would be more interested in writing books or acting. So people who are crazy about anime, find other interest so anime doesn't lose its taste. ;)

Yours truly,

Well first off I don?t think anime will ever really die. I agree with Aaryanna in that it will just change as time goes on.

However if for some bizarre reason it really did die then I would start creating my own even if it was only a story I could write. I?m sure if I looked around I could find fellow members who could draw and so forth and before long we could bring it back if we really wanted to.

We would start with creating manga and go from there. It?s kind of hard to kill off something that has so many fans as either they will demand it continue, which does work as millions of fans objected to star trek being ended and as a result it ended up airing an additional 25+ years, and if our demands weren?t met then we would probably band together to re-create it ourselves.
