This planet contains things valuable to all races of the 40K universe. It seems a great conflict will brew over the lush backwater planet of Harkan. Where will you stand? THE RACES If the race appears in WH40K, you can play as a character in it, although some races might be harder to write for, such as the Tyranids or the Necrons. Links are provided below for each race. Make it sound like a name fitting of the race. Race: Choose one of the races listed above. Rank: Where your character stands in your race's army. For instance, an Eldar character could be an Exarch, Warlock, Farseer, etc., or a Witch Hunter character could be an Inquisitor Lord or Sister of Battle. Gender: I hope I don't have to explain this one to you. Age: Some races age differently than others. Orks probably develop younger than humans, Eldar develop at a rate similar to elves, and Necrons probably don't age at all, what with being in metal bodies and all. Armaments: What weapons your character uses. Codexes can be a great help for this and the Powers section. If you don't have a Codex, which is likely, then try to make it sound believable. Powers: If your character is a Psyker or has any special talents, list them here. Appearance: If you feel like describing it, fine. I've given you a bunch of links to each race, so you could browse the Miniatures Range section for that. Or, if you've painted your own and feel like sharing it with us, go right ahead. Personality: Another fairly obvious one. Interest in Harkan: Why is your race interested in the planet of Harkan? It could be that there's some kind of material there your race needs. It could be that your race would just like it as an outpost to refuel and plan strikes into enemy territory. It could be just for the love of fighting other races, if you're an Ork, or that you want to strip the planet of its biomass to fuel your hive fleets, if you're a Tyranid. Be creative, but keep it plausible. If someone else before you has listed a reason for their race's interest and your character is from the same race, it's okay to be lazy and take theirs, but try to be original. There are factions in every race. MY CHARACTER Name: Farseer Ulannan Iendan Race: Eldar Rank: Farseer Gender: Male Age: 476 Eldar years, relatively young. Armaments: Shuriken Pistol - Standard issue short-range pistol that fires sharpened discs at deadly speed. Witchblade - Eldar psykers carry potent force weapons known as witchblades, which may take the form of a spear, sword, or some other weapon. Ulannan's is a sword. Rune Armor - Eldar Farseers and Warlocks are covered by protective runes and sigils that use psychic energy to ward off enemy attacks. Powers: (Taken from the Eldar Codex) Eldritch Storm - The Farseer may summon a corona of crackling energy which strikes out with arcs of lightning and hurls enemies in all directions. Mind War: The Farseer reaches out to attack the mind of an enemy in a desperate mental duel. Appearance: Ulannan (Second from right) Personality: Ulannan, for being so young for a Farseer, is surprisingly level-headed. However, he can be gripped by periods of rashness and take unnecessary risks. This is very dangerous, considering that, as a Farseer, he must guide his people to safety and victory. He hails from the Ulthwé craftworld. Interest in Harkan: The Eldar of Ulthwé are running low on the mysterious substance known as wraithbone. They need this substance to construct their weapons, their armor, their vehicles, bodies for mighty warriors encased in soulstones, even the craftworld itself is made out of it. On the backwater planet of Harkan, a substance has been found that is remarkably similar to wraithbone, with the same level of resilience and conductivity. The Eldar need Harkan to harvest this material and thus perpetuate their dying race. THE RULES It's a rule in Otakuboards that you make your posts understandable. I'd like to take this a step forward. Please try to spell and punctuate correctly. It ruins the feel of a story to see jarringly misplaced commas or blatantly misspelled words. And if you just plain can't spell to save your life, maybe consider playing as an Ork.
Jake of Bodom
Name: Naglfar the Viking Lord Race: Chaos Rank: General Gender: Male Age: 38 Armaments: A Runesword of Khorne (I invented this - just picture something similar to Abbadon's sword) and a Runeshield of Khorne (I invented this as well - it's a big ol' shield with runes around the edge and a big gold horned skull in the center). He also has a giant two-handed Khorne-gifted battleaxe strapped across his back. Powers: Wind of Chaos, Daemonfire (I invented this one - it's a column of fire that bursts forth from the palm of the psyker) Appearance: Naglfar is a thick, towering behemoth of a man. To look upon him is to behold the essence of grim and battleworn visage. His armor is black with gold detailing, and he dons a huge, billowing cloak of wolf fur. The spikes that protrude from his shoulderpads and through the cloak are only shadowed by the huge horns that rise from his helm. Personality: Albeit the fact that he is a follower of Chaos, Naglfar has a strong view of honor. For example, he only uses melee weapons because he believes guns to be a dishonorable cop-out. He actually doesn't mind war at all, like any self-respecting Chaos Space Marine, especially since he is a patron of the Blood God Khorne. Background: Naglfar is known as the Viking Lord, a name given to him by Abbadon the Despoiler himself. After the Horus Heresay, Naglfar and his retinue were recognized for their skill in battle. Naglfar and his band of warriors followed a code set by an ancient group of warriors from the Forgotten Age on Terra. These warriors were called the Vikings. Despite their brutality, the Vikings had a true sense of brothership, as do Naglfar's Viking Legion. Thus, Naglfar was named the Viking Lord, and his troop was christened the Viking Legion. Their allegience with Chaos is unstable, as they do not actually worship any of the Gods of Chaos. Khorne offers them gifts because of their prowess in battle, and that is their only tie to Chaos besides some of the effects the Warp had (Naglfar's psyker abilities, for example). An extra note - you may notice that Naglfar's age is only 38, but he was also part of the Horus Heresay, which occurred over 1,000 years ago. Only a few years after the Horus Heresay, the Naglfar and the Viking Legion were sent on a remote mission to take out a Daemonhunter outpost, but where hurled into the depths of the Warp in a major psyker malfunction. Their bodies were held in stasis for more than a thousand years. When they were finally released, they hadn't aged a bit. Therefore, when Naglfar emerged, he was still only 38. Interest in Harkan: Naglfar and his Viking Legion are looking for a world to call their own. Many of the Chaos factions have outposts and planets scattered about, and the Vikings deserve their own. Abbadon has challenged them to take Harkan as their residence. It's a lush planet full of wildlife and raw materials that could severely aid in their pursuit of glory. The most significant reason Abbadon chose Harkan, however, is the fact that it is a planet that is about to enter war - a war between all major races looking to utilize it for their purposes. In the name of blood, glory and honor, the Viking Legion charges toward all opposition. Harkan will be theirs.
