Hey I want to know which do you guys think is better. Naruto or InuYasha? I can't decide! I like them both. My fave girl character from InuYasha is Sango. My fave guy is Kouga! My fave girl from Naruto is Sakura and my fave guy is Sasuke. :catgirl: I just can't decide which is better though. InuYasha has more action but Naruto has more comedy. I dont know what do you guys think?

Well I love both...They are my fave animes....

Well I've decided to go with Naruto, because I find it has a better storyline, with better battles and jokes. Inuyasha just seems a little repetative. Sometimes I get bored of it. Don't get me wrong, It's one of my faves, but my opinion stands.

Fave characters of Inuyasha:

Girl: Kikyo

Boy: Seshomaru

Naruto characters:

Girl:Sakura

Boy:Sasuke(LOL we have something in common)

I really enjoy both animes. I am a big fan of Naruto and was a fan from the first time I saw it. To me Naruto is very full of humor and lots good action with many great fight seens. I have only seen a few episodes of InuYasha and thought it was a very good quality anime. But because im biased and havn't seen enough of InuYasha, then ill have to say Naruto.

Naruto.

Inuyasha is quite good, however the 18 year old canine still acts immature. On the other hand Naruto has charaters that act more mature than their actual age. At any rate the question was sort of tough. If it was Inuyasha aganist another anime I would certainly chose the canine hero.

I love inuyasha. It was the first anime that i got into. I have to say that kagome and inyasha are still my favorite characters (out of any anime i have ever watched.) Ihave been watching anime for years and no other characters catch me like inyasha and kagome. Don't get me wrong i like naruto to but the characters just didn't catch me like inuyasha. :animenose

OoOOo, this was is tough. I love inuyasha with it's intense story line, but Naruto's SExy Jutsu get's me everytime.. Hmmmm.....I have to say I love Naruto more just because I've seen more of the episodes then Inuyasha. ANd, Inuyasha makes me angry sometimes with the way Inu treats Kagome and Kikyou(Despite the face that I dislike, not hate, her)
I would definitely say Naruto. The Inuyasha storyline has alot of cliches, and is extremely repetitive. Naruto, though more childish, could really go anywhere from what I saw, so it has kep me hooked.
Oh...I agree and disagree with you.

Naruto is definitely better. Yes, I agree about everything you said about Inu Yasha.

But Naruto is DEFINITELY NOT CHILDISH.

If you've only seen the dub, then I can understand that and well...you need to see the sub.
It's beautiful. And far more heavy. Especially later. The blood and gore is all gone in the dub. It only seems childish because it's on Toonami, which means it's edited.

Here are my favorates:

Naruto male: Kakashi-sensei
Naruto female: Sakura I guess

Inuyasha male: Sesshomaru-sama and Naraku
Inuyasha female: Kikyo

Yeah, I agree, Naruto is DEFINATELY not for little kids. In English, they really made it kiddy. Like everytime Naruto says his corny new catch phrase"Believe it!" he would say "Damn it!" Also, kakashi would curse, and so would Iruka. I really hate the new english version, they cut out a lot of blood, and words. They should have brought the show to adult swim instead of toonami. :animeangr

Also, Naruto is way better than Inuyasha, a ninja beats a dog half demon anytime.
(well, maybe) :animeswea

I've only seen the first few episodes of Naruto, but it seems a lot more immature and juvenile than Inuyasha, especially if you watch the original Japanese episodes. Inuyasha does get a bit repetative, but I still like it better because it deals with more serious topics and plot lines.

I disagree.
I think neither series is very mature and I think the reason lots of people prefer one over the other is the approach they take at entertaining the masses. Though, don't get me wrong. Although I say neither is mature, they both deal with issues beneath the battles and 'adventures' they go through.

Inuyasha is a girl's anime. It deals with relationships and love. One major staple of the series they never get rid of is the Inuyasha-Kagome relationship. They constantly talk about it and even created a love triangle by throwing in Inuyasha's old girlfriend Kikyo.
Even if Inuyasha is on a quest to find the mystic shards, the journey is not important, it's the relationship between the characters male and female characters.

On the other hand, Naruto is a boy's anime. It deals with different issues than Inuyasha. Inuyasha had a romantic undertone but the Naruto series pretty much forgot about romantic relationships except for the occasional clips of this couple or that. The main character had a crush on a girl, but it's quickly forgotten and hardly ever brought up again.

Where Inuyasha had relationship issues, Naruto deals with loneliness issues. Uzumaki Naruto is trying his best to become acknowledged, and many characters are dealing with similar issues of loneliness and dealing with the lack of family. They seem to be a mirror and comparison to Naruto the same way Hamlet was mirrored by Fortinbras and Laertes.

Bwahaha tie in Shakespeare. xD

Minor quibble: Both Inuyasha and Naruto are shounen (Naruto runs in Shounen Jump, while Inuyasha runs in Shounen Sunday). I can see where you would get the impression that Inuyasha is aimed at girls, but its primary target audience is--much like Naruto's--male. Plenty of shounen anime deal with relationships, romantic love, etc. :)

As for the original poster's question... I'd take a Togashi series (or maybe even Bleach, depending on how it goes in the future) over both of them. Between the two, I suppose I like Inuyasha a little better, but I've also seen more of it.

As far as I knew, the Japanese word for damn is "kuso", so "datteyabo" (Naruto's Japanese catchphrase) wouldn't translate to damn it. In fact, most fansubs go over the top with cursing which wasn't in the Japanese version. They cut out hardly any blood. Honestly, who cares that Iruka isn't coughing up blood when there's still blood on his leg and back? In fact, the show would actually be the same on AS. Viz made the TV version intended for AS, but CN wanted it on Toonami, so they aired it there. They did not make it any more kiddy than it was in the Japanese version. You are allowed to like the Japanese version more, seeing as it has better acting as well as better OP/ED themes, but the actors will be the exact same in the uncut DVD release. So either accept that Viz did a good job handling the show, or that Naruto just isn't that mature or deep.

EVA Unit 100, I praise you. ^^
A lot of the complaints with the dub have been surrounding exactly what you said. There exists so many of these sub-obsessed "otaku" that I just ignore it, but you say everything I want to about the dub. It was a good dub.

Hm. Fair enough. ^^ That and it has the same creator as Ranma½ and Urusei Yatsura. For some reason though, when I wrote the post I thought Takahashi was a Shoujo mangaka...

Okay, scratch "Shoujo" from my essay and just assume that Naruto and Inuyasha deal with different issues xD

Oh and like you, my choice is regretably with the series that I've seen more of.

Did you even read the two posts above yours!?!

And if all the stuff you think is "good" is blood, cursing, and shipping, you should probably have said Inuyasha is better than Naruto, given that it has more of that stuff even in the uncut version.

Oddly enough, Dagger, I'd probably have liked Inu-Yasha a lot more had I have seen less of it. Like other Rumiko shows, it had a lot of clever concepts and funny characters that supported it as a great show throughout the first several episodes but as it was apparent that things weren't progressing at all in a show that supposedly was focused on a specific goal and character development and eventually it became good for nothing other than drinking games unless you watched it sparingly and ignored the overall story arc entirely. Naruto, already started developing the storyline even in episode 1, and seeing as the story of Naruto tends to be more exciting than Inu-Yasha's IMO (don't know about what you think), that can only be a good thing. Yes, the show does have a lot of glaring flaws that its insane fans won't admit to, such as the drawn-out pacing in some episodes and the crappy filler arcs, but overall a Naruto marathon entertains more than an Inu-Yasha marathon, so overall Naruto wins for me.

Haha, it's a lose-lose choice for me. But I bailed out on Inuyasha right when it was starting to get really wearisome, so what I ended up seeing was essentially the best chunk of the series, when everything was new and fresh--before it became clear that they would pretty much never reach their goal.

That's not to say I feel significantly more positive about Inuyasha, but I appreciate the idea of the journey and of the mixing-up of past (Kikyo) and present (Kagome) lives, if not always the way it plays out. It's an interesting and slightly unusual set-up for a series of this type.

I've tried Naruto a few times but it never grabbed me. I don't like how it looks visually, I don't like the whole ninja thing or the techniques, I don't like the characters, I dislike knowing that if I did choose to follow it, I'd run into more than my fair share of filler, etc.

I feel no need to start it up again, waiting to reach what people call the really good parts, when Yu Yu Hakusho had me at one episode and Hunter x Hunter had me at one and a half. That's just the way my tastes run, I guess. *goes back to watching Chapter Black*

That is very true. Longer story arcs like so tend to lead more filler, especially when the series was only mediocre in the first place (the whole ninja thing is the most original thing ever  ). Yu Yu Hakusho is the only exception I have ever seen, it's action is so fast paced and non-stop but it manages to last 100+ epsiodes anyway.

I'd have to say I like Inuyasha more than Naruto, though from what I've seen of the former, it may change.
Mostly because it was one of the first ones I've ever seen, and it grabbed my attention from the start. I like how Inuyasha gradually changes from the beginig towards the end, though on the surface he still acts immature. As well, the other characters grow and change, and you grow to understand them. For instance, when I first saw Inuyasha transform into his pure demon form, I nearly had chills. Or when Sango's one brother was controlled by Naraku, I felt hate toward Naraku. An even better example is when one finds out Naraku was the one who intigated the death of Kikyo, and they overlay his voice in the flashbacks where he was disguised. It's that kind of thing that makes Inuyasha an awesome anime.
However, I have not seen much of Naruto, so I can't make a really good recomendation.
