James P. Galvatron
Is there a age limit for how old or young a theotaku member can be cause I have seen some old people on here myself I'm only 16 though. I always wondered what was the age of the average Member I have seen people 13 to 38 maybe 40 and I have wondered who is the oldest member and is there or has there ever been a age limit on this site. Panda
Since this is a question concerning the site itself I am going to move it over to the Suggestion and Feedback Forum. On topic: I would have to say there is not age limit here. Anime fans who want to socialize with other fans should have no age limit. It is much like the people you can see attending conventions. Everything from parents with newborn babies, kids, teenagers, adults and senior citizens. TheOtaku is much the same way. That is one of the great things about anime, there is no age limit to the fandom. On the site I know of members in their 50's but an exact number I am not sure about. DeadSeraphim
Considering the minimum age to use myOtaku is 13, and to access any of the services on theOtaku(or, at least, submit your own stuff) you have to be a myO member, I'd say there is an age limit. If you're under 13, you aren't supposed to be there. That said, I'm not aware of any maximum age limit, only a minimum, so, your grandmother could use the site and abide by the ToS no problem. lol There's no age limits on OB, to my knowledge.
Horendithas
I can see why there would be a minimum age limit, as the law requires one, but one saying if you are so old you can?t be a member or like anime? That just seems ridiculous to me. I don?t think age will ever change my love for anime. I?ve run into a few sites where it?s mostly teenagers and I?m sorry to say that they pretty much ignore anyone older; it just gives anime a bad rap when you do that. Besides, I know that Panda is an adult, imagine attempting to tell her she was too old. I would proably bonk the idiot on the head for her. Its actually one of the things I like best about this site as I don?t know a lot of adults in my area who actually like anime. I have more online friends than I do in real life who like anime. Besides I just can?t imagine a place that is so well run and put together would be so foolish as to limit themselves by placing an age limit on membership. Other than the one that by law requires you to be at least 13 years old.
Gavin
Interesting, most interesting. As René has already stated, the minimum age to join OtakuBoards is supposed to be thirteen, however we do have a good number of members who were under thirteen when they join and are under thirteen at this moment. Personally I think it's a good idea to have a minimum age for the site, even if it can be easily overcome, as it prevents very young people from being exposed to either subjects or details which they are too young to be exposed to. I don't even recall there being an upper age limit to OtakuBoards and I don't see a need for one, if a person of forty wanted to come to the boards or any other part of the TheOtaku network then age doesn't really matter. Off the top of my head I have no idea who the oldest member is, and until I started to learn a few years back that there were people older than James and Adam here I would have said ether of the two. I'd take a stab at who I thought was the oldest, if I thought it wouldn't end in my bloody torture and death for being wrong.
