"And here, ladie's and gentlemen, is the next round of the Dead End Cup between the cyborg Deus X and condemned felon Richard D. Riddick.

"Deus X is a known murderer, destroyer of government property, and death-row inmate. He's outfitted with a cybernetic implant called the 'Eye of Deus,' giving him his Ace in the form of heightened sight and the ability to create violent illusions. He uses a sword, and calls himself something of a master swordsman. He's here to get out of jail, and maybe make a name for himself in the process...? He's been handicapped by not being allowed to use his sword.

"Meanwhile, we have Richard D. Riddick, or just Riddick, a convict who was signed up by his Corrections Officers due to his violent nature. They probably hope he'll end up dead on the ground. He can see in the dark, a rare feet, and uses two large broadswords in battle. He's said to be violent, rough, and utterly deadly - just the kind of man we like in the D. E. C. Just like Deus, Riddick has been banned in the use of weapons for this fight.

"The two are fighting in a pitch-black, spherical arena filled with pitfalls, traps, and some doo-dads designed to give enemies a taste for where they are. The ground is solid metal, perfect for sound-conducting, and so are the walls. There are numerous infra-red cameras set up around the area, giving the audience full view of the action.

"Well, fighters ready? Go!"

Riddick pulled off his goggle quickly and looked around in his night vision, taking in his surroundings, touching the floor and walls feeling that it was really a metal material.

Damn, not gonna get around with out making some noise. He thought as he crotch walked through the arena, looking at the floor as well as the open space, remembering that the announcer had said their were traps and other things to hinder his abilitys. He heard a jingle in the quiet dome, by reflex he tried to grab one of his swords, then remembering he didnt have them. He looked at his hands in the dark.

Guess I'll have to kill with my bare hands again. He thought once more, he wasn't paying attention to his one step and set off one of the bells that were as alarms and instantly looked around. He saw something move into his line of vision then vanish, he growled lightly and tredly lightly once more, watching everything closely as not to kill himself before he even managed to see his opponent. He walked around carfully, trying to minimize his total sound and sneak up on his enemy.

Where is this bastered? Riddick whispered to himself, he heard bells again that came from behind him. He turned swiftly and saw quickly a person sneaking up on him, he smiled lightly and the person vanished once more. Riddick followed, but soon lost him in the darkness, he then continued his slow and intising hunt for the one that would get him to the next round.

Deus smirked slightly as his opponent tripped the bells. He listened closely, mentally judging the distance apart, and quickly understanding his location. Once he thought he knew his opponent's location, judging for movement and pace, of course, he flitted around. His opponent could see in the dark? Let him catch the sight - it would let Deus know what direction he'd be coming from.

He's barehanded, like me. Convicted felon - probably been in plenty of prison scraps; he'll fight dirty, and be good at it. He can see in the dark, that's his advantage, but I can make it mine to a certain extent. Sight limits perception, after all - and a straight line isn't always the best course.

The cyborg edged away slowly, taking steps to make as little noise as possible. His heat-rader remained off - it would do him no good navigating, and he didn't want to fall into the trap he was trying to create for his opponent. No, he had to simply remain on guard and rely on his other senses. The smell of sweat and adrenaline, the feel of movement and body heat, and the sounds of boots clicking on the metal floor; those would be his sight.

He ran his hand across the smooth ground in front of him like a blind man with his cane. He wasn't going to stumble into any pitfall, nor run into anything too noisy. And he was thankful he did, as his hand slid across the edge of what felt like a sizable indentation into the metal. Tripping into that would've made quite the racket, and him an easy target.

...There's an idea...

Slowly, carefully, Deus leaned down and untied one boot, slipping his foot out and stepping back down lightly. He proceeded to pull off his long coat with much more care, and brought it down to wrap it around the shoe. He lifted up the small bundle and quickly tossed it into the pit, sliding out of the way on his bare, quieter foot.

Come on, Riddick...find my little surprise.

Riddick heard the clunk of something dropping into a pit, at first he though it was Deus. But quickly disgarded that thought.

No ones stupid enough to fall into a pit so quickly, and this Deus seems to be smart enough to avoid me. I'll have to think more of tactics then prison fights, this will be interesting. Riddick thought to himself as he smiled. He walked slowly, carring his cloak as not to disturb anymore bells. He came to the pit where the noise had come from and looked down into it, only seeing his coat and boot. He shook his head and turned to watch his surrondings.

He can't be to far, he set this trap about a moment ago. I wander where he is..... Right then, Deus jumped from the shadows, kicking him in the chest. Riddick moved back on to the edge of the pit, balancing for his life. He looked at Deus and the pit, he regain balance and looked Deus in the eye. Bad move on his part, Riddick head suddenly jerked and images of the cell mates he had killed started to appear. Each of them taunting him, mocking him, saying he was nothing but low life scum, he roared and it echoed through out the dome. Deus smiled as the illusion took hold.

"I looks like your mind is weak, and you fell for my trap. Convict or not, you still lose to me." Deus approched, making his way ready to push Riddick off to his death. Riddick gripped his head and shook it violently, he focused his vision and blocked out the images. Focusing on Deus voice, Deus soon came into focus and Riddick grinned. He lunged for Deus and tackled him to the ground, he growled in his face.

"Weak am I?" Deus quickly got over the shock of Riddicks mental break and flipped him off, Riddick landed on his hands and feet, slidding on the metal. He stood up right and charged Deus, Deus was ready this time and they locked hands and tried to push each other. Neither of them losing or gaining ground, both of them groaning, both squeezing eachothers hand hoping their grip would be strong then the others.

Riddick quickly released his left hands grip and spun around, hitting Deus in the back of his head with his elbow. Deus went down, but quickly shot his leg out knocking Riddick off his feet, both were on the floor. Trying to stand back up, Riddick and Deus were at eye level again, but this time Riddick threw his cloak in Deus face and moved away from him.

He will not get me again with his damn illusions, I must keep him on the edge, throwing him off when I can. Riddick thought as he took of his boots and held them in his hands, moving slowly again, hunting Deus once more.

Deus snarled and threw the cloak aside.

He's stronger than I suspected, especially of the mind. But...he won't beat me again. That, he can be sure of.

"You can see in the dark, can't you, Riddick?" Deus called out. The darkness was quiet and unyielding, but he knew he had the other man's attention. "Well, I must warn you...so can I."

A simple mental command, and the world was splashed with color. The ground and walls glowed a faint, deep blue. The cold glow surrounded him, and he scanned slowly for the lightest hint of red or orange. Heat...no matter what this warrior was capable of, he couldn't turn himself to ice. Night-vision let Riddick see Deus in the gloom, but Deus had an edge; the aura of slowly disappating heat, dull red fading to deep violet, that could be seen around any object. He was hiding, but it wouldn't work.

In a flash, Deus raised his leg and sent his other boot flying off into the darkness, letting out a loud clash of noise. Riddick's heat-shadow flickered and moved to the other side of his hiding place. On silent stocking feet, the cyborg moved his feet in a skating motion, sliding towards his opponent. He let his hand swing out to grab the pole Riddick was hiding behind and swung around with his foot raised high.

There was a satisfying sound of bodies colliding, and Riddick fell forward onto the ground. Deus kneeled down on the man's back.

"What now, Riddick?"

Riddick growled and twisted and Deus knee came off and spun quickly and jumped back on his feet. He grabbed one shoe from the ground and threw it at Deus he caught it and threw it down, Riddick threw his other shoe a second later, the moment it left his hand he charged Deus. Deus caught it and was about to throw it down when Riddick tackled him and knocked him to the ground, Riddick growled his his face again.

"That hurt, I don't like it when I get hurt." Deus smiled lightly.

"Your a big guy, you'll live.... Mabye." Deus said when he flipped Riddick off again. Riddicks face was serious and darkned. He jumped at Deus again and they rolled to the ground, Riddick trying to grab his throat while Deus trying to break free. They broke free from each other and Riddick swifty kicked Deus in the chest with both of his bare feet. Deus lost his breath for a moment, Riddick found a chance to try and get him, he ran and reached for his throat, Deus had recovered just in time and barely avoided Riddicks hand.

Growled and ran back into the darkness, Deus turned quickly looking for him with his heat vision, Riddick came in again trying to close line him. Deus saw him in time and avoid it as well. Deus also managed to knock Riddick off balance for a split second, Riddick recovered and ran into the darkness.

He attacked a second later and grappled Deus, Deus managed to lift Riddick off the ground and straight up, Riddick quickly switched the advantage and held Deus up. He fell backwards and slammed Deus into the metal ground, Riddick jumped back up and stood over Deus for a moment.

"Hurts doesn't it." He patted Deus on the stomach and ran back into the darkness, avoiding traps once more. He got deep into the darkness and rubbed lower back.

"Jesus that hurts." Riddick said as he swiftly made his way around traps and bells.

Deus gritted his teeth and slid to his feet, glaring around in the darkness for any sign of his enemy. The heat shadow flickered back and forth; his opponent was getting wise. Still, not wise enough.

"You're a coward and a fool, Riddick. And next time, you won't break my illusion."

He closed his eye for a moment and stood there, still as stone. He heard the feet behind him but took no notice, not even when an arm slipped around his neck. Riddick's breath was hot on his ear, and his muscular arm pressed tight on Deus' neck. Breath came harder, but he stood cold and unmoving.

"A fool, am I? Maybe I should snap your neck right now..."

In a flash of movement, Deus reached up and grabbed Riddick's arm, leaning forward and pulling hard. The bald man flipped up through the air and landed hard on his back, coughing sharply. Deus reached down and pulled his eyes open, smirking slightly.

"Let's see you get out of this little mind-fuck," Deus growled, and the world was suddenly alight.

Hot, pure white fire shot up from the ground and surrounded the long-haired man, causing long wings of flame to extend from his back and his clothes to blaze, billowing like the robes of a king. His entire body turned into pure, unyielding heat, and the same fire crawled around Riddick, slowly turning the entire arena into a molten pit. Deus stood and raised his hand, a tongue of fire turning into a long, broadsword. He let the tip point at Riddick's throat, and bellowed out in a God-like voice.

"You're time is through, Riddick," he cried, and his voice was a sound as cold and deep as the ringing of a church bell, hot and pure and full of righteous fury. "For your crimes against me, you face eternal damnation."

He pulled the blade back, ropes of flame tying his opponent down.

"In the name of Deus, I end your life. Amen."

The sword swung down, Riddick screamed, and the fires vanished. Deus removed himself from his own illusion, letting Riddick see the flames by himself.

"How strong are you, sinner? Let's see."

Deus watched as Riddick thrashed violently on the ground, until he snapped up, letting out a howl of pain and rage. He whirled on the source of his torment, and readied his fists.

"I've been to Hell already," he spat, and lunged, slamming Deus to the ground. "It's your turn to visit, you son of a bitch!"

Deus shoved him off - the lingering illusion kept him slightly weakened - and slid back, preparing for the next assault. Riddick was angry, and an angry man is a strong man. Unless, of course, his opponent is strong enough to use his blindness. Still, Deus was hurting. His ribs were sore, his back was sore, and the power exerted by that last illusion made a dull ache spread in his temples.

"Come on, Riddick. Let's cut the hit and run, and finish this."

 • 2 weeks later...
Riddick growled and rolled his neck, the popping noise was heard through out the arena. Riddicks anger filled him to the brink, but Riddick knew better then to let his anger take control, so many prison fights taught him better. He clenched his fists and gritted his teeth.

"Fine, we'll cut the crap and finish this now." Riddick could feel his muscles growing sore, his arms were getting tired and his legs were starting to lose strength to support him. His head was starting to hurt from the illusion, it was a very gnarly illusion and it was something Riddick only saw in nightmares but he shook it off none the less, his back was still sore from dropping Deus.

But he only had to hold out for a little bit longer, he knew Deus was experiencing the same effects, either more sever or at the same level as Riddick. He looked at Deus hard.

"Now you'll learned why no one fucks with a prisoner from a triple max prison, a no daylight slam. You'll regret messing with me." Riddick charged and and jumped in the air, kicking Deus in the chest and sending Deus about two feet away. Riddick fell to the ground and landed on his back.

Fuck, that hurt. He thought to himself, he stood up as Deus stood up, Deus attacked and used his weight to knock Riddick down. Deus clenched his fist and gave a strong punch to Riddicks face, Riddick growled and threw Deus off, he then jumped on top of Deus and punched him a couple of times in the face.

Deus caught a punch and twisted Riddicks arm, Riddick yelled. He used his free hand to hit Deus one more time to make him let go. Deus threw Riddick off and Riddick rolled, he slowly brought himself, he shook his hand and rubbed his wrist.

"Got close to breaking it." Riddick growled again.

"I hope you like to be broken." Riddick walked over to Deus and grabbed both shoulders and threw Deus into the metal wall, a loud thud echoed through the arena. Riddick smiled and let go of him, Deus still stood up to Riddicks surprise, he was about to smash him again when Deus punched him in the face and threw Riddick into the metal wall.

Riddick feel to the floor, Deus started to walk away, Riddick suddenly grabbed his ankle and yanked it from under him. Deus fell to the floor and hit his head on the metal floor, Deus didn't move. Riddick could still see him breathing but the image of Deus slowly faded as Riddick passed out.
