ChibiHorsewoman
What can I say? I need a topic. So I'm curious- what have you been in past Halloween lives? I remember one year I was a cat- a cute black cat. My mom made the costume complete with a hood containing ears and a tail. It was nice and warm in that costume. And I had to be since I live in Western NY. I was so cute. I also remember being Shy Violet when I was five. For those who don't know- Shy Violet is from Rainbow Bright. She was one of the Color KIds. My mom made that costume too. I still have it in my closet. I haven't been anything too interesting lately. But last year I dressed my daughter up as a duck and one of my friends went as a dragon. She made the dragon costume with her dad's help. So now I'm wondering- what everyone else has been. Were you something boring and traditional like a fairy princess or a robot? I remember one year my brother was a bear. SaiyanPrincessX
Halloween was so much fun when I was little. I miss trick or treating. I stopped sixteen I think. Not because I wanted to, but because I just wasn't able to. Now my mom says I'm too old. I could pass for 14 or 15, but my brother being as tall as he is would totally give us away. ^_^; - I was a Rabbit when I was I think four - a Clown once - a Grape in first grade, yes this was weird. - Pebbles - Cat - A hippie when I was twelve - Princess at thirteen - Baby when I was fourteen - A cat again.. - Among others I can't remember right off. My mom would always dress my brother and I up as something cute, or fun, rather than scary. My brother was Ace Ventura one year, that awesome. We put one of those stuffed monkeys from the Zoo on his shoulder, it looked like Spike. ^_^ I love these 'past' threads. Memories are so fun.
Annie
I have a horrible memory when it comes to simple things, but I'll see how far back I can remember. One year, I was a hobo. It was the easiest costume ever. All I did was take an old shirt and rip it in places, did the same to an old, baggy pair of jeans, then I went outside into the dirt driveway (oh, this was when I was still in Oklahoma, mind you) and rolled around for a bit..>_> The bad thing, Oklahoma's notorious for having really cold Halloween nights, so I had to wear like three layers of clothes underneath the rags. But that was a fun costume, lol. Another year, still in Oklahoma, I was a firefighter (go figure, since I was one). Only, I actually wore the gear...and I will tell you, I was not cold that Halloween. The gear itself weighs (all together) in at about 60 pounds. The bad thing, I didn't get very far in town before I decided I couldn't walk anymore. But I did stay warm and got lots of candy. And, if we happened to get a fire, I'd be prepared. I've only dressed up for one of 3 Halloweens here in New York. That was last year, and I was at an adult novelty/Halloween party. It was...interesting, to say the least. I can't tell you the details of what that party was about, but I'll say there were tons of skimpy costumes. Mine wasn't too revealing, but it was hot. I was a dominatrix..and I still have the whip and handcuffs to prove it. :animenose (And no, no one gets pictures..so don't even ask.) This year, if I had to work, I was planning on a morbid Tinker Bell. I don't know how I would've done it, but that's one of 2 ideas I had. The other idea, and what I more than likely would've done, is to be Allison Goldfrapp. If you listen to Electronica (or you're friends with peopel who do), you know that she's a very tiny woman with curly blonde hair..and has a great voice. Everytime I see pictures of her, or her music videos, she's usually wearing over-the-knee boots and some form of lingerie. So, I was going to get a wig, and dig around in my underwear drawer for the rest, lol. Pretty simple outfit, I'd say. I wonder how well that'd go over at work O_O But I don't get to find out. I'm not working on Halloween, pity. And I have no other reason to dress up..so oh well.
Retribution
Eh, I can't really remember all of my costumes, but I'll try to list some. - Frankenstein. Jeez, I still have the mask, and when I put it on, breath hard, and walk rigidly, my little brother (age 5) freaks out. Good times, good times. - Robin Hood. He was cool like that - nuff said. - Peter Pan. And yes, I did in fact wear the tights. Beat that. - A Karate Man. I just wore my Gi and belt, and got candy. I think I did this costume a few years running because it was so easy to do. - Batman. I just remembered that I was Batman one year, sitting here typing this up. Anyway, my friend was Spiderman, and it was a fun night. - A Soccer Player. This was my lamest costume by far, as I just threw it together a few minutes before my family left to go Trick-or-Treating. This year, I'll probably do my homework and eat the candy that my family gives out to kiddies.
Shinmaru
I barely remember any of my old costumes. I recall going out as Shredder from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles one time (it was a really, really horrible costume, though), and I went as a vampire victim another year but that's about it for old costumes. A couple of years ago I went as The Invisible Pedestrian. That was basically ripped off from a Saturday Night Live sketch where Dan Aykroyd played a really sleazy toy salesman who was being interviewed by a completely disgusted Jane Curtin. One of the toys that Akyroyd brought out was a Halloween costume called 'The Invisible Pedestrian' which was basically an all-black outfit. I thought that the idea was hilarious, so I used that for my costume. Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately lol), the street lights were out in full force when I went out trick-or-treating so I was very visible. And nobody asked me to explain my costume, either. :( Last year I went out as a ghetto pirate. I actually found a pirate pimp hat in a thrift store, and without that hat the costume would not have worked even a quarter as well. I got the idea when my mom told me that my brother was dressing up as a pirate, and I wondered what a modern-day pirate would be like. The costume was modern, but the way I acted was basically a rip-off of Captain Jack Sparrow. :) Here's a picture of my costume from last year if you'd like to see it. Not pictured: The fork I used as my sword. En garde! :D
Gavin
Interesting, most interesting. At nearly nineteen it's been probably three or four years since I last went Trick-or-Treating, and given that I live in a small village the rewards for the night have never really been great. I've never been one to wear anything very out-of-the-ordinary, even at Halloween though I used to put a fair bit of effort into actually getting them to look the part. Going from latest to earliest as best I can remember, the list goes something like this. IRA Member: Having just entered Transition Year in High School, myself and a bunch of friends decided to put a military twist to the costumes for the Halloween party, with the exception of any idiots who thought coming as Nazis would be funny. Now before someone jumps down my throat saying that my being an IRA member wasn't all that different, my costume was based on the original IRA from the early Irish War of Independence and not the modern paramilitaries. Basically the costume itself was just some old style clothing borrowed from an uncle and a long coat belonging to my grandfather. Vagrant: Like Annie's hobo costume this merely involved dicing up some old dirty clothing and mussing up my hair a bit, added accessories included a bindle and a torn hat belonging to my dad. The costume was a little too successful for my tastes prompting several "poor thing, here's some money" responses from people. That costume came two years before the IRA one, as I was ill the entire week of Halloween the year after my vagrant costume. I can't accurately recall the list in proper order beyond these two, but those costumes that I do remember wearing included a ghost, which involved a sheet with eye-holes. One of the Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles, Leonardo I think, Dracula with a plastic mask and cotton cape and finally a zombie skeleton with a rubber mask which I found exceptionally hard to breathe in. All and all at eighteen I'm quite happy to give Halloween a skip this year round.
