:catgirl: Absolutely not. I like what I like and just because somone says that an anime is crap-doesn't mean it is. I judge for myself and if you don't like what i like then whatever that's your opinion!
if you had a favorite anime, and you read another opinion about it and the person just really said some crappy things about it. would you let that persons opinion affect the way you feel about that anime?
Um, NO. If I like it, I like it. If they don't like that I like it, they can go suck their socks. :D

I've a tendency to become an over-zealous fan so anything bad I read/hear about my object of fanaticism will probably end up being ignored by moi. I *might* consider reading/hearing it again once my fervor dies down but by then, it's often too late to change my views.

Though if what's said is about an anime I've yet to see, the commet teds to stay with me and ends up ruining the whole experience once I actually get to see the series. Amplifies all the bad stuff, yeah?

No, after all it's only an opinion. Why would I allow someone else's opinion to change how I feel or think about something.

Even if it's something I have not seen I still prefer to find out what it is like for myself.

Besides there are plenty of anime out there that I do not care for and I would hardly expect others to not like them just because I do not. That just seems kind of immature and childish.

No, I would absoulutly not let it affect me because
I wouldn't care what someone else's opinion is. I'm
not saying my opinion is always right but if I like it
I like it, so just deal with it.

^Yeah, I mean, I'm not really a yaoi fan, and I hate it when people try to make a character that way. Take Dio Eraclea from Last Exile for instance, though it is a possibility that he is in fact gay, if you look at where he's coming from, and where everybody else is coming from, and take his friendly personality and his fascination with Claus' piloting skills, I think he just doesn't realize that he's a little too obssessed, perhaps, or just oblivious to the fact, like he is about many other things...
But still, I don't let it effect me, I still love the character. :D

Honestly. I wouldn't really care. I mean it is there opinion afterall. (I find it a waste of time to argue with someones opinion.) I am one that tends to dislike animes other people like, but I give legitimate reasons why I don't like them.

I understand that good and well. The thing is is that I don't have the same interest that others have. I try to state it as nicely as I can, but they always take offense. So.... Let's just say I stopped caring >=).

I go to a school where there are alot more who dislike Anime than there are those of us that like it so I myself am used to things like that. I have learned that people have their opionins and it doesnt really matter what they say. If you like that Anime than theres nothing they can say or do to stop you from watching it or liking it.

I never let other peoples opinions of anime effect my view of it, I think that kind of think is stupid & pointless, it's not going to shape my thinking no matter how convincing they are, we are Otakus, you can't easily change our opinion about anime, stick to the facts.

just about every anime I watch has been put under fire(no joke) and I know it isn't my taste thats the problem.

Heh, I wouldn't really call myself an otaku. (I'm not that dedicated) lol.

We'd probably cross paths later on down the line. I mean, the way you sound makes it seem like all the animes you like, everybody else gotta like it. So just about every anime you like has been put down.... Big deal. I've said it before. It's probably because those that down your anime don't have the same taste as you.
If it's my favorite anime then I wouldn't care what anyone would have to say. If it's something that I haven't seen yet then yeah I'll consider the opinion... won't believe it 'till I actually see it though.
Yeah, I totally agree with you there, NinjaJedi.

Anyways, opinions on what other people say don't really matter to me as much as they think it should. If I did care what other people's opinions were, then I wouldn't be the person that I am today, you know??

Well, if someone gives a crappy opinion on an anime that I really love to watch, then I would say, "Hey, whatever you say, that's your opinion, but honestly, I don't care." Like, one of my friends knows that I totally love Fullmetal Alchemist and Fruits Basket, so everytime I talk about it, he always has to say something bad about it, like, "Oh, that show is so totally lame," or, "I can't believe you watch that." He just has to let everyone know that it's not a good show, but I really don't care what he says because that's his opinion.
Now, if it's an anime that I haven't seen, then maybe I'll listen to their opinion. But, I won't solefully agree with it until I have seen it with my own eyes. If I have and didn't like it myself, I'll agree with them.

In the end, no, people's opinions don't really matter that much to me. If it did, then I would be doing stuff that depends on people's opinions, which would be so totally boring. :sleepy:

I wouldnt change my opinion on an anime jsut because some disagreed with my opinion or said that the anime really sucked....If I like it, I like it, but jsut because some one doesnt like it doesnt mean Im going to critise them, instead I would want to hear why they like or dislike the anime and then I would explain why I like or dislike the anime. Although we may not change or minds at least we can see why they had that opinion about that anime....well at least thats my honest opinion ;)

To answer the question I would probably consider the persons opinion, if it was seemingly a logically constructed opinion, and then compare it to my own feelings of the show. If I still liked to show, then it just goes to show how much I truly liked it! If I find my opinion of the show wavering, well obviously I didn't like it as much as I thought I did. Typically though if you really enjoy something, and truly believe it, then your opinion of it won't be swayed easily.

And yet I still think it is important to pay attention to other peoples opinions so that you may appreciate the said series in a multitude of different ways (in different "lights" to to speak).
If you've seen LE then,
Dio most certainly is not gay, regardless of how he acts for there is nothing to support that he even might be.
Simply because we have personality stereotypes for sexual preferences does not mean the said character is of a given sexual persuasion. In LE specifically
the relationship with Dio and Luciola for instance is mentioned in quite detail toward the end of the series
, again it was
simply his personality.
In many Japanese movies (non-anime and anime alike), male characters are what we would call "metro sexual." While this isn't fair to the Japanese to say that all desire seeing metro sexual male characters, however it is well known that it is a growing trend with Japanese young men to act feminine. This is considered cute, desirable, adorable, and creative. Some like it, some don't.
