Sage Kaley
Well I didn't see a thread for this but I've been wrong before so forgive me if this is another of those times. Now then, has anyone else read this manga? I'm not sure if it's coming to America or not but it's very interesting. I've only read the first volume but I'm hooked. It's about Allen, an exorcist who is trying to stop the Akuma demons. Allen seems to just be wandering around, sort of reminds me of Fullmetal Alchemist in a sense. It's hard to say much without running into a few spoilers but it is good, though it is very creepy. I personally love that though. In the first chapter alone
a priest's wife is killed by a falling cross just as he tells her that God would never betray those who believe in him. Ouch. Talk about morbid (and ironic)
For those not willing to read that part (I don't want to spoil it after all) let's just say it's creepy. Very very creepy. For what I'm reading, the whole manga is this way. Especially how the Akuma are actually formed:
sad morbid and ew, shoving the skeleton into the body like that, wow.
My friend has recently sent me the remaining volumes (what has been released anyway) so I hope to see even more strange things. The main character is very cute and full of angst and I tend to like that in my manga men ;) The one odd thing is the main bad guy.
He's one weird looking guy, he's a clown thing and he's always got little hearts floating around and yeah, just weird
So then, any other readers of this interesting little gem? Lindus
I *love* this series. Actually, it was licensed a bit back, by Viz. I'm definitely looking forward to that release. I really love the art style of the manga and like you said, there's kind of an FMA vibe within it. I've heard that people that liked that series liked D.Gray-man as well (I could be an example of that I guess XD). While the newer chapters seem less appealing (to me), it's still a very nice series. I especially like it when Ravi made his debut. He's my favorite character by far after Komui XD If the series manages to get back to how it was for the first 40-or-so chapters, I'd be ecstatic, but it might take a bit for it to get out of it's little funk. Not to say it isn't great anymore. Just.....not *as* good a read as it was near the beginning. :animesigh

Tatsubei Yagyu
Has anyone heard of D. Gray-Man? It's been around for over two years now, but I haven't heard anyone really mention it, which makes me sad, considering I think it's really good. Here's a main summary from Wikipedia, as I can't really provide a good one off the top of my head... :animeswea :
The plot revolves around Allen Walker, an Exorcist, in the midst of an imaginary 19th century Europe. Allen is a member of the Black Order, which contains Exorcists, connected with Vatican. The mission of the Black Order is to stop The Millennium Earl, an evil ghoul intending to cleanse the world by destroying all the humans in it in the manner of Noah's great flood. The Exorcists themselves are special people gifted with compatibility with Innocence, a divine substance created in the ages past to combat the Earl's minions, the Akuma. It is said that there are exactly 109 units of Innocence scattered around the world. Once an Innocence finds its compatible person, it will evolve to become a weapon to fight the Akumas.
So yeah. It's currently on Chapter 96, but I'm only on 21, the third volume, but I love the manga so far. That's why my current Avi and Siggy are of Allen Walker. :D Anyway, if anyone checks out this manga (or has already), share your opinions here, as I haven't really heard much of anything, anywhere...
It's been a little while, but others have read this, enjoyed it and then posted about it. So with that being said I've merged your thread with the existing one on this manga. Next time be sure to take a peek at the directory before creating a new thread. ;) ~indifference
Ooooohhh... :animestun Sorry about that...I didn't even check. :animeblus
Meggido
I'm really enjoying the manga. I've currently read all the available chapters. I however started reading this just before the first ep of the anime was released. When I do that I usually try to stay with the anime in my reading like I am for Death Note but for this I had to read ahead. In recent chapters though I'm a bit disappointed that we don't get to find out information on certain characters history.
Guest BlackandWhite
I loved this series, I just started reading it a few days ago. I really liked John, the poor baby. And I agree that it has a bit of an FMA vibe to it, the main chara Allen Walker reminded me in looks and almost everything else of Edward Elric, which I don't mind, because I <3 Edo. Ikillion
I'm actually suprised that
Jasdebi didn't attack (well so far) in the same way that they both did seperatly
. Yet what everyone wants to see more of is Tyki and Road -eye sparkle- I'm really impressed with this series so far. It really does remind me of Full Metal Alchemist (only better), yet this is possible because of the similarity between the two. Arms, children in an army like force, et cetera. I really wonder if
Skin Boric is really gone for now because of what Yuu did to him, then again I think that Yuu is dead too. He wasn't my favorite (since Lavi pwns them over) but it is sad in some way.
Tatsubei Yagyu
Damn, I can't stand not being able to read spoiler tags!!! Stupid Ikillion...lol :p I'm only at the part where Allen's on the train with
Lavi and Crowley
and beats the crap out of those dudes in poker. And then,
one of them turns out to be one of those Noah Family dudes.
From what I hear, cool things are to come, so I'm gonna go back to reading soon. <

Haibara
I've been watching the anime and I absolutely love it. I can't wait to read the manga, I'm going to look for it the next time I'm in the bookstore. Hopefully it will be there if not I think I'll cry. Meggido
let's see if I can build up some conversation again. With the manga on a 5 week break currently I thought I'd ask people their opinions on the latest chapters so far. what do people think about a)
Chaoji being a compatible innocence user and what do you think it may be,
b)
General Cross' appearance and the fact he has two anti-akuma weapons,
and c)
the Millennium Earl's appearance at the end of the latest chapter?
Well anyway my opinions on the above questions. a) I think that
Chaoji being a compatible innocence user seem to be more circumstantial, more of a let make sure everyone's safe a little longer so as to introduce General Cross.
So far there doesn't seem to be any other point, at least not yet. b) ok
we all knew that General Cross would probably be awesome with all the build up that we'd been getting but I wasn't expecting him to be anywhere near what he is. I love the fact he has 2 weapons as it sort of shows that he is as powerful as we'd been led to believe. The fact that they are two different types is nice, and yet i found his entrance somewhat unusual with the skeleton thing.
c) as for the last point. A nice way to end the chapter and yet it kinda feels like we may be getting close to the end of the manga. there also hasn't been any mention in a while about
The 5th Noah who disappeared or defected even though the anime is giving it's own rendition of who the 5th Noah is.
Maybe we'll find out soon in some big twist of fate.
