TailTactics
So from what i hear people are actually dating inside the boarder of the OB and some serious relationships such as an individual to flying halfway across the country to visit him/her result of it? Huh, would have never guessed.

gwynva
Getting married online??? This feels so creepy. It almost feels as if you can also marry any character you like or play etc. and one step further you would not even need a real person but only your imagination. Whatever, but really dating with someone from OB may be nice since there are not many people around with the same obsession and/or not to see this as weird... Yet, never tried. indeed never even thought about it 'cause i have my little group of anime-lover friends that we often meet. Even if i date with one of them it will be only after spending some time in the real life environment...
Kirika
Dating/Marrying someone from the boards? I dunno. It sounds pretty uncomfortable to me. I wouldn't mind making good friends here though. :animesmil
Pumpkin
I always thought like Panda and thought that OB marriages were just all in good fun except for of course Imi & ULX's case I suppose. I don't really think I'd be seeking a relationship with someone from OB as that seems kind of strange to me, but I do know I have made some friends over time here. And yes it's been awhile since I've visited OB since I happen to be so busy with college right now. I've lost contact with those people but they know who they are. I hope to be coming here more often soon. I still haven't found anyone on OB that I really bond with yet unlike I have on many other forums but who knows? It might just happen. All in all, I think most OB marriages are just a fun thing. By the way, ThoraxtheImpaler even though I haven't been here too long, I remember you as That One Odd Dude in one RPG I was in. Just thought I'd point that out.

I never exactly went looking for a relationship online, ULX and I have known each other for well over a year now and over that time we've found that we have so much common ground and feelings just naturally grew. *shrugs* My mum has great faith in the relationship (as silly as that may sound to some of you), which is why my Christmas present this year is to go to Seattle and stay with ULX for two weeks. It's a test, ne? Stranger things have happened. ^_~ *sends ULX love points for being such a sweetie*
2010DigitalBoy
I was never in said RPG... Anyway, I think these internet relationships are cool, Imi, good luck with that. I just can't imagine what it will be like... do you guys know what eacht other look like?

I just can't imagine what it will be like... do you guys know what eacht other look like?
Err... duh. You know, couples, in general, know what each other look like, even if it started on the internet. I have roughly 60-something photos of Hevn, two videos of her and some soundbytes, personally. And I'm always bugging for more, cause I'm a romantic idiot. It's just kind of expected when you can't have physical contact. On another note, I think it's funny that you went out of your way to get a 'girlfriend' (I put it in quotes cause it hardly seems you're fo real) - I mean, geez, I knew Hevn for six months before we became a couple, and we were always, always close before hand... but you bitched and moaned about being ignored for a good five posts, have someone pay you some attention, almost instantly become 'us' and then can't imagine meeting her IRL? I don't know who you're fooling, man. lol I was making plans to fly to Hevn within hours... [Note: I do remember you, I just never found you especially interesting - you only seemed to post in Play It, and my games interest is like, 1... out of 1000. C'est la vie.]

I seem to remember you sending me a PM with your sign-up. Must have been thinking of someone else. So, yeah...I haven't ever heard of you. What a shame. And of course we know what each other look like. There are webcams, photos. I have an album of ULXs pictures and am at this moment in time on webcam to him. Also, we talk on the phone quite a lot. Having an online relationship doesn't mean that everything is hidden. ULX knows more about me than anyone else does, and I mean that. (I also agree with René in...well, everything he said.)
Solo Tremaine
I think the success of online relationships depends a lot on the age you are when you're in them, who you are in the first place and various other niggling factors. In a sense, I've been in three online relationships (at least, three long-distance ones). The first was probably more of an infatuation on my part which I didn't fully understand; I just wanted to spand hundreds of hours talking on the phone for ages with someone I'd found who shared my interests. By the time my second relationship rolled round, and I'd gained proper use of the internet, I was able to talk cheaply more often with someone I gained a very strong attachment to (who was on OB), but at the time I didn't really know how to be in love with someone, despite the fact that she was someone I felt closer to than anyone else I knew. The problem was that all of a sudden, I couldn't handle a lot of the responsibilities that came with being in that relationship, and the fact that I couldn't physically be there for her when she needed me was incredibly distressing. It caused me a lot of stress and in the end it was broken off. We're still friends, though ^_^ That's what's quite nice about falling for a friend- if you're lucky, you'll still have the interests in common that you begin with to fall back on. My third relationship was with an OBer, heh. That was great for the most part- the distance was greater, but at the same time I'd matured and knew more what I wanted and had a better idea of what I was supposed to do. But it didn't work out; I blame myself for that. But even so, I'm not a person who can withstand a long-distance relationship. At least at the moment, I wouldn't be able to cope with it. I have no problem whatsoever with other people having them. I think they can be a really great way of forming a relationship as, assuming you're honest and open with each other in the ways you need to be, you really get to know who you're falling in love with, and you get to see the physical, real side of them as and when you meet up. It's almost like meeting a friend of a friend when you first meet someone you've spoken to on the internet for a long time. You can see bits of their written personality in the way they talk and act, but there are things you'll do in person that you'll never be able to portray online. Hence, you get to know them all over again, already knowing that this is someone you know and love. So to answer the original question... I have, but I don't currently ^_^;
XxmoraiNAKIxX
I think dating online or anything is really unhealthy, and i'll feel terribly bad for the child.. it's not gonna work out for most of the ppl, since ppl here often changes their attitude. Annie
I've been in an online relationship with Parabola a little over two years now. We've had it rough from time to time, but we've learned that there are things we can't control. For us, it's all about acceptance. We realize we're long distance, we realize that either of us may date other people, and we've come to accept that. Once we learned how to accept our relationship status, it made things a lot easier. People can tell me that they don't think my relationship with him is healthy for me, or that it's not a good idea, or whatever--but I tell those people to bug off. I don't care what everyone says, I know my relationship, and I know that he and I have something no one can ever understand. Well, perhaps Jamie and Trevor might. ^_~
Gelgoog Pilot
I remember those old days...both before the marriges...and after...I sadly...never found anyone on here...*shakes fist* Not that it matters...Besides...then I'd feel all wierd if a person i knew close by wanted to date or vis versa...I'd have to break it off with one of them...probably the online one since the other is more tangable. I fell more for the Otaku family trend...as you can see by my sig. Well actually it all started when someone told me I was on there list or whatever so I decided to keeo one of my own...and that wasn't family I was a bodyguard of Avalon...we knew eachother well from a different forums
