Trans-Siberian Orchestra

So, I just went to a concert on Sunday night for Trans-Siberian Orchestra. The name was vaguely familiar, probably because when December rolls around I keep the TV on Sirius Holiday Music, and they play some songs by them occasionally. I went because my dad wanted to go, and I really wanted to hear some live Christmas music (especially Carol of the Bells). However, when they started performing, I was completely blown away.

Their rock opera was amazing; every instrument was equally beautiful, especially the vocalists. By the time they were simply performing a set, the awesome music and the incredible light-show had me thirsty for more.

I don't own any of their CDs yet, but I plan on getting all of them and the one that's going to come out next year. They remind me a LOT of Nightwish, without the one operatic vocalist (they had four men and three women, but they can sing so much more than opera).

So, what are anyone else's opinions of them? Someone as meticulous as me definitely reccomends them, if you haven't heard them and if you like symphonic metal/Christmas/classical music.

Cool very cool! I love Trans-Siberian Orchestra! I love the way they mix rock and classical music together. I wish i had their CDs, but my mother keeps buying me Mainheim Steamroller. Which they're okay too. I love classical music anyway so I really like TSO!You have very good taste! :catgirl:

How'd I know you'd be a Trans-Siberian Orchestra fan, Ailes? ;)

TSO is incredible! No-one plays Charol of the Bells like they do. No-one. And, if I'm not mistaken, they helped Metallica with their (IMO) best album ever, S&M (Symphony & Metallica).

The reason TSO might remind you of Nightwish is the fact that they helped establish Neo-Classical Metal as we know it. They might not be a Metal band per se, but they were pivotal in setting the pace for that style.

You're so lucky to have seen them live! They play absolutely beautifully, as you said. I'd kill to see them in live concert!
