AlishaKitten
I do like all kinds of music but I usually go for R&B or sometimes I want something more heavy I'd go for rock every now and then. I love R&B because the songs are just really sweet and the rhythem is smooth so it's easy to your ears. It's soothing to me. If I have an off day or somethings wrong I usually just put on my head phones and listen to R&B. I love Ashanti and Usher. The music's just soft. I like to listen to it when in a relationship. As to my off days where I listen to rock it's usually when I'm just mad or I'm pissed at something. Or if I have a problem with family peer persure and what not it's up to rock to make things better. The lyrics and beats much more up paste so it lets out all my anger or whatever I hold inside. Well hopefuly that was good and you dont get your thread closed
Corpse Torcher
new to the boards so Figured hey this will be perfect for my first post..since well I love music. Anyway my favorite types would have to be Metalcore(black metal death metal) and some grindcore as well. Once in awhile I'll throw some hip-hop in the mix I won't lie :-P but Rock is where its at! Cat
I listen mostly to pop rock or the 80's rock bands like Billy Idol and AC/DC.:D The reason I listen to these guys is that there is so much of a difference in modern and old rock. In the old rock they sing about the true rock soul. I do still listen to bands like Green Day, My Chemical Romance, and The Killers. But I like the older rock better. I also like to listen to country music like Toby Keith and Blake Shelton.:D I listen to this music when i am feeling down or i need a song to lighten up my day a bit. There are some songs that are just so fuuny like "I Wanna Talk About Me" and "Some Beach".
Jakehammaren
I love Metal. I mean, real, true, honest Metal, not what the general public thinks is Meal. Slipknot is not metal. Korn is not metal. No, I mean Metal! Metal's about being awesome and having fun. Metal is about slaying dragons and guitar solos! I love Metal in every way. All types of it (well, I don't like Doom Metal too much... it's a little too slow and depressing). My favorite bands are (in no particular order): Children of Bodom Finntroll 3 Inches of Blood In Flames (older stuff, before they turned on the "Suck" switch) Ensiferum Nightwish Opeth Into Eternity Vintersorg Kamelot Luca Turilli Kalmah Yngwie Malmsteen Elvenking Warmen Amon Amarth I just know I'm forgetting something, but oh well. I'll add stuff later if I remember. Man... too much to list! I just get totally lost in the world of Metal. There's something about just closing your eyes and letting a Children of Bodom song just wash over you... there's nothing like it. And listening to Yngwie Malmsteen rock out classical music on electric guitar is just sublime! Or feeling like you're in the middle of an epic battle between, oh I don't know, elves and demons during a Nightwish song. Or dancing a trollish jig during a Finntroll song. Or wishing you could play guitar like Alexi Laiho :animeswea. That's my favorite type of music (which makes sense - I grew up on Classical/Orchestral music, and Metal is Classical's closest relative believe it or not). And if you don't like Metal, send me a PM. I bet nearly anything I can find a Metal band that suits your fancy. Most people who dislike Metal haven't ever actually heard real Metal. Sad, but true :animecry:

LadyOfColors
i like rock and gothic-rock because this style is my imagination of a wild and free life that i wish to live but never would. my fauvourite bands are "nightwish" because i like tarjas voice, i wish i could sing like her, and "vanilla ninja" because the 4 estonian girls make good rockmusic and their voices, espacially lenna´s, are very powerful and they sound very, very good. Goodbye, Face
I swear there's a new favorite genre thread every week... Anyways, I love Hardcore, and in extension, some Metal sub-genres like Black, Death, and Symphonic. I also love progressive rock, which is a bit of a new thing for me. I tend to stay away from the bands that everyone is listening to and listen to more ecclectic stuff. What I like most about hardcore is that nothing repeats (usually). I like more of a sporadic song structure that isn't limited by randomly repeating certain lines. I guess I'm weird. I like metal bands that do something different, I dislike bands like Lamb of God (ducks for cover) where every song they do sounds almost exactly the same. I was in pure bliss when I heard As I Lay Dying's "Distance is Darkness" for the first time and all of a sudden a guest female singer started singing at the end. It's little things like that which make some bands rock. I like progressive rock when I want something speedy and not heavy. Something about high-pitched vocals speak to me too, the whole package just wow's me. My favorite bands include: Circle Takes the Square -Hardcore Beloved -Emocore Swift -Emocore Saosin -Emocore He is Legend -Southern Rock/Metal Kylesa -Metal/Punk Circa Survive -Progressive The Sound of Animals Fighting -Progressive All That Remains -Metalcore It Dies Today -Metalcore Glass Casket -Hardcore Between the Buried and Me -Hardcore KILLWHITNEYDEAD -Metalcore Every Time I Die -Hardcore Rifles at Recess - Hardcore There, I changed it, Jake. Lafleur
As my signature says, Rock is my Life. Classic Rock from the Golden Age, or any of the lingering talent from that time, is what I love. I don't know what it is about it that I just love. It's mostly the sheer soul of Classic Rock. I can't explain it... I just can't. Everything about Classic Rock appeals to me. Favourite Bands/Artists in no Particular Order: RUSH The Guess Who BTO The Tragically Hip Dire Strait The Beatles The Rolling Stones Queen Daivd Bowie Creedence Clearwater Revivla Deep Purple Trooper Triumph Uranus Another type of music I love is Folk, or Folk-Rock if I can get it. IceRose
I really don't know what kind of music I prefer, I mean I don't know how most of the groups I listen to are depicted as....I like Nightwish (they kicked out Tarja *cries*), Within Temptation, Apocalyptica, Gackt, Malize Mizer, Do as Infinity, My chemical Romance, Fall out boy, Andrea Bocelli, Linkin Park and Alter Bridge. I really like the bands from outside the United States, I guess its because its different and not the usual lyrics.
AnimeFront
My favorite genre is a toss up between rap and metal (weird combo i know). Depending on the day and my mood (which is either cold or mad) it could be rap or metal or both. My fav metal band is probaly Rammstein Slipknot(ppl hate them because they are succesful) Kill christ Heaven Shall burn Hand to Hand Not My God anymore My fav rappers are Ludacris Juelz santana 3 6 Mafia Dem Franchize boys and Monolarch(the only athiest rapper i know, he is cooler for being that) 50 cent sux my dick with his weak asss lyrics. Noodle
Well, I like just about every kind of music.(not that big on country, though) Anyway, if I really had to choose, it would have to be Rock/Alt.Rock. Why, I don't really know. What really got me started on it was the fact that all our local radio stations play pop and bad hip-hop. So, finally, I found The End, a radio station that plays rock, alt.rock, punk rock, and the good 80's and 90's music.Anyway, here are some of my favorite bands: The White Stripes-Really, I used to hate them. Then, White Blood Cells came out and now I LOVE them.Plus, Jack White is hott... :animeblus The Cure-I grew up with The Cure, and now it's pretty much my favorite band(next to the White Stripes) Green Day-Another band I pretty much grew up with(explains my bad swearing habit...D@mn....) Evanescence-What can I say, I just absolutly love Amy Lee's voice Coldplay-Just nice to listen to when I'm in a bad mood or stressed out Harvy Danger-It's a local band, and now they've kinda grown on me The Gorillaz-Again, I used to hate them.Don't know how, but now I love 'em and of course, William Hung-Who couldn't love William Hung? (I am so cool....)
ChibiHorsewoman
I've been buying a lot of cds lately and have noticed that the majority of them are country (Trick Pony, Gretchen Wilson, Maranda Lambert ect) I've also noticed that the majority of CDs in my CD cases and my CD tower are country. So it can be logically determined that I prefere country music. I'm not really sure why I like country more than anything else. But Ithink it could be the songs. You can't go wrong with a song about a woman who's happy she's not getting married and another who's singing about burning up the guy's memory. Especially in my present state of mind. It's not that I don't like other types of music. I like latino for dancing and you can't deny me my TMBG either! But it's country that makes me say: Hey put that back! So now that we've determined that what's everyone else's genre of choice and why?
TheShinje
I like dang near anything! But, I like the christian releases the most, and people tend to group all christian music into one category regardless, not minding how diverse christian music actually is. I mostly listen to the rock/punky type stuff, but I have room for anything else depending on the situations, or my listening mood in general. IceRose
I like Alternative Rock well one may call it that since Rock is considered by some people the 60's and 70's stuff like the Ramones and stuff. Well I like MCR, Fall out boy, Linkin Park, Coheed and Cambria, The Used, Dishwalla, Trapt and others..... from the japanese song division I like Gackt, Malice Mizer, Aki Kudo and DAI. Veritas
I like most everything, I'm not particularly fond of country but there are some songs I like. The majority of what I listen to is rap and R&B, I like it alot because the music can be so diverse, especially in rap. Plus in alot of the deeper stuff it deals with alot of issues I can relate to being half black. I tend not to like alot of the popular stuff but it really depends. As far as artist I really like Tupac, Nas, The Diplomats particularly Juelz Santana, T.I., Shyne, The Game, Dr. Dre, Eminem, Zion I, Nelly, Ice Cube, Kanye West, Jay-Z, Styles P, Jadakiss, DMX, and the list could go on and on for days. R&B is cool when I am in a really chill mood, and just thowing on something that makes you think, so I guess you could say I like some pop, but I like the slow stuff better than the stuff you can dance to. As far as rock goes, or alternative I'm kind of pickier. I really like Thursday, AFI, Jimmy Eat World, Finch, A Static Lullaby, Hawethorn Heights, Garbage, some of the Killers and The Bravery, some 311, Papa Rpach , Lincoln Park, and there is probably a few more. What I listen to really depends on my mood. Also I like Bob Marley alot, I grew up listening to him and ya not much else to say. I also really am fond of Classical music for some reason, It just is so smooth and relaxing to me. Also if I am in a good mood, The Gorillaz and Daft Punk. I just like music, everyone needs a soundtrack to thier lives.

Magus
I'm more of a R&B person. I can't really say that it's soothing on my ears... It's just one of the genres I can put up with these days. Alicia Keys, Usher... just to name a couple are a few of my favorites. I grew up on Rap and Hip Hop back then, but I don't really care about it in this day in age. I'm more of an old school type. (Run DMC and LL Cool J) I also listen to Gospel. (Kirk Franklin, Donnie Maclurikin, Patty Ce Ce Winans... probably spelled a few names wrong) Now this is something I listen to because it's soothing on my ears.
