Corey
Yo. Peep dis, holmes. College ain't everything them haters be sayin' it is, yo. Tha mindset be way diffrent, cuz. Just about all tha peeps that get their learn on, are actually there to learn, yo! It be totally diffrent than that bogus highschool BS. *shakes head* Whoa, I don't know what that was all about. Anyway, college is a lot different. You don't get a lot of the people that go there just because they have to, like in highschool. When I go to class, there's always a kind of 'good mind vibe' that makes you instinctively ready to learn. And as for the indecisiveness, yeah, everyone goes through it. You have no idea how long it took me to decide on a career goal.

Well I am in college and I am older than everybody else, but I had the jitters too. Of course my college has its party animals but it is nothing like those movies. I mean you have to keep your grades up to keep your funding and most of the time in my case-your tests are my only grades. No assignment grades or anything. The teachers don't make you come to class-although some may deduct points for you not coming. Most of the time the losers drop after the first week and the rest are ready to learn. You'll be fine. It's a nice experience. I mean look at me-I found the OB!

Anyway, like you said, everyone goes through their litle freak out phase when thinking about college. To be truthfully honest, while they are very different, it's not as bad as people make it out to be. True, there are a lot of new things that you're going to be experiencing (if you live on campus,) like living in a dorm with a roommate and waking up on time for all your classes and such, you might have to make new friends, and the cirriculum and expectations will be different, but it's nothing all that trauma-inducing (depending on how you adapt to change, heh).

A bit tougher, and you do still get people who seem to not want to be in class...usually because it's an required general education...*Shakes fist at Marcoeconomics!* You don't have the snotty groups walking around as much (maybe a little if your college of choice has houses I.E. fraternities and sororities) Work level is quite a bit harder. If you were one who got great grades without much effort...well...I would advise effort in college... And as for your indecisiveness...it's pretty normal...I have already switched colleges because my first choice (although close to home, cheap and alot of friends went there) was not holding the major I wanted. Also..if you are on a big campus like me...you get wicked awsome exercise!

IceRose
I'm a senior too, I moved during half of my senior year to North Carolina from Florida, it was a tough change for me but its not the first time it has happenned. You see, I'm graduating in January 20th . My parents basically trained me with one thing in mind "You don't go to college, you are nobody" that has gotten me exhausted lately, I mean I applied for more scholarships than I can count on and already been rejected from some colleges I applied to, is tough and the worst part is that to get in state tuition one has to live one year or more in the state, I only have 2 or 3 months. :animesigh . I took Macroeconomics in FL before I moved but then I could not enroll on the course because they didn't offer it in NC they messed up my transcript for my last 2 high schools andmy stress levels are high enough but at least I keep a good perspective. 2010DigitalBoy
I'm not entirely sure if I want to go to college after school or ever for that matter. Then again I am only a highschool freshman. Of course, the main determining factor resides on weather or not I get published by the end of highschool. As for me, I'm a freshman in College right now and this is my first semester. I don't go to a University but a community college that's suppose to be the best in California. It's hard but only if you don't pay attention in class and don't do your work and fall behind. I use to stress about what I wanted to do because my father kept pressuring me to "make up my mind" about what career I wanted to pursue. One word of advice, don't listen to what others tell you. The right decision comes in time. The beginning of the semester, I overloaded myself with too much to do and too many classes so that I could transfer early to a University. It's definately not worth it to worry because the more you do that, the more your just going to burn out. I had to drop some of my classes because I was so stressed out. Another bit of advice is to take some classes outside GE and start to get an idea of what you like to do. I decided on an English Major but that could change anytime. Just know that MAJORITY of people in college, change their majors atleast once. For the most part, I like it a lot better then Highschool. I have to admit though, I like picking the higher classes because there are more older and mature people. For some reason, I can't stand some of the kids that just get out of highschool because they think they are really mature when their not. But I guess that's just me. Don't worry about it, it'll be fine. I know exactly what your feeling. Besides if you don't want to go to college, that would be fine also. Besides, I'd just like to point it out there that college is NOT for everyone and your not a loser if you don't go.
renayiiq
I'm a junior and I know what I want to do. I just know that it's gonna take me a long time to get into college. I'm not involved in any sports or anything that could get me a scholarship. I'm kinda poor. Occasionally, my family has money, but my dad is very horrible at saving. I have no way of getting into college right when I get out of high school. I'm going to be working at McDonald's for quite a while until I can conjure up the money to get myself into college. And then I have to worry about SAT's. I've never been good at tests. In fact, I have a credit-by-exam for French 2 on December 6th, and I know that I'm going to flunk. I've taken the class already and failed it, and I know the material, but I'm very forgetful when confronted with a test. I know I'd never get a high enough score on an SAT test to get in, and I do not desire to join the military because I just...I couldn't take it. I have a serious authority problem and I don't hand out respect on a silver platter. Basically, I'm screwed.

NinjaJedi007
College is totally different from high school. I went from public school my entire life to a somewhat expensive, private Jesuit university. It's so much harder than anything else I've been through. Then again, you work hard, you play hard :catgirl: ^ Most 1st year students do have to live in the dorms. I guess there are some extreme circumstances otherwise but that's pretty rare. Dorm life is fun anyway.

visualkei
I read in a school article once, a guy said that college was the easy choice. He went to college because it was the most available choice. I agree with him. I don't have to worry about working to support myself or my family. I didn't need to immediately get a job. I didn't know what to do with my life, so I went to college to buy more time. If you have the choice of going to college, to get a four year degree plan, don't worry, college is supposed to be a good experience. I don't think it's supposed to help you find the meaning of life or anything. Just kind of aid you in the process of growing up and help you make progress. Don't fret about your future. Just do what you think is right. During my sophomore year I reached my threshold of worrying and freaking out. I changed my major for the hundredth time until it felt right, I started taking life easier, grades aren't worth your physical or mental health. If you can't decide on a major, don't worry, when you're a senior, the school will force you to pick one. =P Remember, you're only a high school kid. You have the rest of your life to get where you want to be through planning AND mere accidents. Hehe. I've always told myself that if things don't work out, I can always go back to school and change my life. Good luck. =D

(nice program between highschool and college) I know it's different than highschool, or any other school level at that matter. I'm just freaking about getting in..and knowing, that's the lifestyle I can live for the next 4-6 years of my life. Yeah, general classes, I call them "basics", I might attend UAA (university of Alaska, Anchorage) I used to live there, I know they'll accept me...and basics is okay there, for what I heard.
