It totally freaks me out whin boys cry. Like, if my boyfriend cries over anything, I would soo break up with him, not to mention anime. sbsp13668
I don't know many animes that I've cried for but Full Metal Alchemist would have but I didn't because I was watching it with a friend :animeshy: But I rememer that when I was a little kid and I saw The Lion King for the first time I cried when Mufasa died! :catgirl: Poor Mufasa :animecry: :catgirl:
Riku
How can you think it's awesome!!??? It totally freaks me out whin boys cry. Like, if my boyfriend cries over anything, I would soo break up with him, not to mention anime. But if girls cry, now that's a different story... :rotflmao:
Umm... no offense, but what if your boyfriend's mother had just died and he had been crying for nonstop? Would you break up with him then? You might have not meant it that way, but other people might think of it like this so, sorry if that's not what you meant.. Anyways, no, I don't think that it's wrong for guys to cry over anime because they aren't heartless beings, you know; they're people, too. I mean, heck, if any guy saw FMA and they had soft spots for things sad, then they would probably bawl over where Shou turned his daughter Nina into a chimera because that was soo sad. I mean, hey, I did. In the end, if I was watching anime with my boyfriend and me and him were crying over something that happened, I would actually feel glad because he thought it were sad too. But, if guys cry a little too much over EVERYTHING, then I think that they've gone a little too far, you know?? :animeswea :animesmil

But if girls cry, now that's a different story... :rotflmao:
Since no one else is really as offensive as I am, I'm going to have to ask a completely different question from what this thread is geared to (participating in it, I think I have the right to). How old are you exactly? As I've mentioned before I think guys getting emotional over animes is the same as a guy getting emotional over movies. There are movies which are meant to be emotionally heart stopping, are these movies only for females? Well that would hinder the market quite a bit now wouldn't it? Is it fair to say all the guys who do get emotional or occasionally shed a tear are pansies for doing so? I hardly doubt it, but you're welcome to your own opinion. However saying you get freaked out when a boy cries, that's a little absurd - undeniably you'll see men cry in your lifetime, I'd get over it. As someone recently said on the thread, what if it was over a real life issue, or how about a documentary dealing with horrible real world disasters. If the boy shed a tear, you'd up and leave him? That's horrible I can't possibly believe that a mature individual would do that. I know many girls though who do not like being in a relationship where the man seems "inferior" emotionally (I know how horrible this sounds, but it is true), but in those cases either the female never would have gotten together with the male or probably just laugh in his face if he cried... she wouldn't go so far as to break up with him over something like that. Certainly wouldn't be freaked out because of it. I don't know? that comes across as either immature or downright twisted to me.
Kenshin DX
Crying is ok but sobbing over an anime is a litttle over the top. Dont get me wrong animes are powerful and I get teary eyed sometimes but to sit and sob for 2 days non stop is over doing it. Dont let fictional chacters break your heart. Not like it matters, I don't judge a persons character based on how much they get upset emotionally. I just think it's rather strange to hang onto things like that, books, movies and the like. The way I usually am is if I'm really touched by a book I do get a little emotional when recalling it: a sudden feeling in my chest, a smile to my face... but no, I don't break dow and start crying over such recollections (after all, if we were to all cry over recalled events we'd be an utter mess - though of course I realize RL loss of any kind is a bit more devistating). Shi no Tenshi
Personally, I don't like it when guys cry period. If they do, it should be for a very good reason, like someone close to them passing away. I don't think a cartoon is a good reason for a guy to cry. I've never cried watching anime and I'm not some hard core, tough chick. I think it's good for a guy to be OK with crying, but not at the drop of a hat.
I feel the same way. Personally, I think it's weird to cry about a completely fictional scenario, besides, there are plenty of other ways to display emotion and sensitivity rather than crying over an anime ;D The things I usually get teary about are those horrific disaster's in the news - like that earthquake and those people who are bearing the winter with nothing but the clothes on their back. In fact if it didn't affect me directly or in some other way I'm completely devoid of emotion. This is because the media shows these scenes on such a regular basis that it kills all emotion. Using 9/11 as an example, the Tv stations showed the event about 20 times a day for a week straight that it lost all effect and I began to not give a damn at all. Fiction is something different. You get to know the characters, what makes them tick, their emotions. You find the characters you like and you dislike, the ones you can relate to. This is why I find it easier to get emotional over anime and books rather than over real life events that don't effect me.
Twilight_Kioku
i love chobits, but i never remember crying while watching it. other shows i defitedly shed a tear over...Elfen Lied, Haibane Renmei, Gunslinger Girls(if ya think about it), Fruits Basket, FMA... probably some of the .hack// stuff, but its been so long, i dont remember :p. oh, Saikano, how could i forget that one myself, i think animated shows are better at portraying emotions that live actors, which is probably why i dont get very sentimental towards them. i just shiver, like im perminantly cold, or something. Cute may not be the word but a bit feminine on the inside... a bit only.... ;) . Guys, animes are animes, they're drawn anything they do, they may even kill each other without any clear reasons. Dying is natural, if you cried because Spike died, then thats not logical, because Spike will still die even if he didn't die on an Episode, for example, he is already 87 yrs. old and has cancer, then he still dies, from natural and ailment causes, his funeral is all blurry, END. If you cried over a dead anime character, revive it in your own piece of parchment and create your own anime or manga. Oh yeah, I need a full explanation on what a Manga is. :D :D :D I don't know, if you like girls with cute, nice and sweet feelings that like boys crying, then cry whenever the Closing Part is shown and say "It just ended, I'll have to wait again, and I still won't know what will happen.. :animecry: :animecry: :animecry: :animecry: . Please help me overcome this matter... I can't take the suffering..... Help Me :animecry: :animecry: " P.S. I need help on how things work on OB, pls.
