Roxie Faye
Skateboarding is definitely harder, in my opinion. I've been skating (roller staking, blading, and ice skating) since I was four or five. I learned to ice skate first, even before I rode a bike (which didn't happen until I was eight - I was so embarrassed. ) My sister had a kiddie skateboard, too, and I tried that. It was really hard. And it is really hard for me to skateboard. I actually can't do it. *_* So yes, figure skating is much easier. I mean, in general terms. Of course when you get to the experts in both these categories (professional figure skaters doing triple axels [actually, since the axel is the only one you go into forward, that's got to be MUNDO difficile], or professional skateboarders (like Tony Hawk doing some crazy move), nothing is easy. But in general terms, I find figure skating easier. I think it's in my blood. My dad used to play hockey (some idiot smashed up his knee and it's never been the same. Hockey is violent! :P ), and my sister was ice skating by the time she was three, and she used to take tons of lessons... but those are another story. And I was ice skating really young, too. I'm sure that if a bunch of people in your family skateboarded, you'd be better at that, you know? So yeah. For me, ice skating = easier. ^^ P.S.: I'm supposed to like the Pittsburg Penguins, so here goes: "Pittsburg Penguins Rule!"
Gavin
Interesting, most interesting. Having tried in vain to acquire the skill of skateboarding, as well as injuring myself quite badly attempting to ice-skate I would have to say that both are equally difficult from my point of view. However if my arm was twisted, I'd have to say that I think ice-skating was probably the more difficult, and painful, of the two to attempt with any kind of success. I don't know whether it was the skates themselves or the just my own complete lack of coordination when my balance is thrown, but for the life of me I left with more injuries than any rugby match I've ever played. The same could really be said for skateboarding as aside from just rolling on the damn thing, I've never been able to do anything impressive with it. IceRose
I tried figure skating once but gave up on my first fall I like wtching the sport and currently have a crush on the world champion from Russia, but yeah my opinion is that both sports are hard, require discipline and are really hard to master. I also tried skateboarding once and let me tell you, is better to fall on ice than pavement.
Stark
I'd have to say that Skateboarding is harder. Since I was a kid I was always on Roller Skates and Roller Blades, and Figure Skating is similar on a fundamental level. I haven't done it much, but when I have I'm pretty decent at it. Besides, I grew up where it got pretty cold in the winter. I think I can handle the ice rink fairly well. I've tried Skate Boarding, to no avail. I can't figure out how to use that thing for the life of me, and I admire my classmates who can use it. Oh. MistressRoxie? Anything Pittsburg is the bomb. Goodbye, Face
I have a friend who is a speed skater, I also have a friend that is a figure skater. Speed skating was really easy for me to pick up, I was apparently a natural or something. However, I simply do not have the body for figure skating so I don't do anything beyond skating around on the ice. However, if I can lend my opinion on anything, it would be that skateboarding is quite difficult. It took me a year and a half to get good at just getting around on the board, and then another half a year to do my first ollie. Luckily, I haven't broken any bones, but I have come close dozens of times. On a few occaisions, I thought I was going to die. However, it's great for getting your adrenaline pumping. I usually put a cd in dad's sound system in the garage, set up a mini ramp at the bottom of my driveway, and then just go for it. If you're bad a skateboarding, don't even think about snowboarding. That was one of the worst mistakes in my life... :animeswea
Ryan
I would say that both are difficult, just because I can't ice skate or skaterboard without falling on my face, but if I had to choose one I would choose skateboarding, because I tend to fall down more attempting that than ice skating. I have nothing but the upmost admiration to those who are able to perform one or the other or both, because of their high difficulty level. Raquel
Well, it depends. People who have been ice skating first will say skateboarding. And vise versa. In my opinion? Figure skating. I have weak ankles! ^.^?
Shadow Blade
Figure or board? I have to admit that they are both are hard to learn, and not as easy to obtain the talent for either. Figure skating was always hard for me. I suck so bad at it that I can't really manage to stand up straight for 15 minutes without falling on my face, making a huge fool of myself. However skateboarding I can do. In the beginning even this wasn't easily accomplished. I had to have balance and good foot work, before I started. When learning to skateboard I obtained a lot bruises, but kept trying. To this day I'm not really good, but hey I can travel around and do a few tricks. So in my opinion they both are hard to do.
