I don't think nintendo will screw up.
When compared to the PS3 and the X-Box360 it doesn't look to good, but Nintendo isn't going for pure horsepower on their new release, they're going for gameplay. You have to remeber they're not targeting a new market, they're appealing to current gamers who can remember playing Mario on the Nes and thing like that. PLus they have a pretty cheap launch price at about £80 ($150) or less. They said £60 ($100) wouldn't be out of the qeustion.
I think the new gen consoles are too far apart to be considered the same generation, Sony are releasing theirs around Christmas 2007 and they have the advantage over the XBox when it comes to the actual console itself. They've seen what kind of mistakes Microsoft have made by rushing the console development, releasing for the Chirstmas season this year, it's got alot of glitches which are prettys serious and should have been sorted before the product release.
If anything I'm looking forward to the Nintendo Revolution and possibly the PS3 release. The Xbox release took me by suprise, but that's as far as it goes for me. I'm not interested in buying one.

I can't wait for the PS3, cause I'm a Play Station fanboy. Which is not to say that I want Nintendo to fail. On the contrary, I hope Nintendo does well. Because I think they are aiming for a different market. The Play Station consoles have always had an emphasis on RPG's and such. With the Revolution, it seems like Nintendo is going more for uniqueness in their games. With the controller layout they have, they'll be able to do a lot of nifty things. So, people who like that kind of uniqueness will be more drawn towards the Revolution. Final Fantasy fans will most likely prefer the PS3.

And if the Revolution really is that cheap, it really won't interfere with sales of other consoles that much anyway.

Personaly I think that PS will be on top once again. PS3 looks amazing but I couldnt care less when its coming out im still playing my PS2. Im also a huge nintendo fan I love my DS. Im not going to be surprised if nintendo revolution bombs thoguh. Im not looking foward to this controller and im sure its discouarging to other people as well. There still hasnt been games presented thoguh so it still has a chance of doing great, however I still am al ittle discouarged.

I'm looking forward to the Ps3 but I'm not in a rush to get it. So far the only games I want on it is MGS4 and DMC4. Other than that "shrugs"

Meh, I've never cared about what console comes out on top. Just produces more fanboyism. (which I really can't stand)

However I do agree with whoever said Xbox 360 came out too fast. I'm already hearing people returning it because of error's and glitches. But that won't stop me from getting it in 3 years. I never did care about playing games online.

As far as Nintendo goes..... I gave up on it a long time ago. To be more precise... I gave up on them after getting Majora's Mask for N64. And I only have about 5-7 games on there. I don't own a gamecube and I've grown out of portables.... So I don't look forward to seeing Revolution's release. (you don't want to hear my reasoning.... I'm sure you've heard it before)

As I always seem to say, it's way too early to be making any judgements about next generation systems yet. Even Xbox 360 - which is already out - can't really be judged just yet. I mean, it's only just launched. We won't really be able to compare it to other systems until it's been out for a while and until the other systems have had a chance to show us a good lineup of software.

I can understand wanting PS3 for some of the sequels that have been announced (ie: it's a no-brainer if you're a MGS fan), but honestly, I don't know how people can make judgements that go any further than that.

And Revolution is also a mystery. Sure, we know that you can play a library of old games on it and we know that new games will be very different as a result of the controller. But we've seen no specific software yet. And nothing has been playable on PS3.

So, yeah. Way, way too early to be writing up your shopping list just yet I'd say. Or at least, it's too early to make any detailed comparisons, except to talk about the philosophies behind each system.

 • 4 months later...
I am also ooking forward to the PS3 launch. I've never played any of the DMC games(if you listen closely, you can hear a thousand DMC fans cry out in shock) so that's not one of the reasons I'm looking forward to it. What I really want to do is check out the graphics for the games. I'll probably end up waiting til the next Ps console comes out before I get the PS3. That's always how it works out for me. I don't even have a PS2 yet. I've played it but I don't own one personally.

If I could, I would buy all three systems. Unfortunately, I am poor, and the cost of buying each new console and one game apiece would cost more than two months' rent.

Nintendo will always be my favorite company. I am most looking forward to the Revolution. It is supposed to have different attachments for the nunchaku controller, including a cover in the style of a regular controller. First-person shooters would be more accurate and easily controlled. The possibilities of the online play are also intriguing. Can you imagine how an online swordplay game where you fight like you're swinging a real sword? Or spell-casting by drawing runes in the air? Not to mention the great, exclusive franchises like Zelda and Metriod. To me, the Revolution will offer both new and old styles with more freedom in the genres. I believe Nintendo will be able to pull it off. The DS is doing well enough in the innovation area, and I expect the Revolution to do the same. It will be my main console, but with the low price point a lot of people might make it their second.

I don't have any Sony consoles, but the PS3 does sound promising. The line-up of games is reason enough with Final Fantasy, Metal Gear Solid, and Devil May Cry, as already mentioned. PlayStation rules the console world right now, so there is a good chance of that trend continuing. Depending on how much I really want to play the games, I might save up for a PS3.

Xbox never held much appeal for me except for a handful of games. If I won one in a contest I would keep it, of course, but I have not seen anything that makes me "crave" it yet. Oblivion 4 looks pretty nice, though.

I'm really only looking forward to the Revolution at the moment. I really don't see how the controller could be discouraging. But I'm getting ahead of myself:

The PS3 will go the way of the XBOX. And by this I mean it will be here all of the time, losing a rather large amount of money. I can't think of any way Sony's strategy could work; the numbers just don't add up. It will have a lot of great games, but the hardware itself will lose money for each unit sold. If it is priced too high, it won't sell enough units to survive. Priced at any reasonable price, and it won't be able to make up for the losses with royalties. Sadly, this will drastically effect Sony as a company, as about one half of it's total profit comes from Video games.

I'll return to add the other two later on.

I am stoked for the Revolution. I've always loved how Nintendo doesn't just make a console and say 'Hey look, our graphics are slightly better than the ones that we had last year!' Because Nintendo doesn't focus on making a game ultra-realistic or with the best graphics; they go for the game that is, really, the most fun. I'd take ToS or MarioKart Double Dash over anything I've ever seen on the X-Box or the PS2. I'm incredible excited about the new controller layout. I've seen some of the demos for it and it looks very user friendly and very innovative. Another thing I like about Nintendo is the sheer durabilty of their products - I'm a very abusive guy, and when I lose or forget to save our something I get VERY angry. No way a fragile PS2/3 or X-Box could survive my pure rage.

Furthermore, I'm not interested in a media center that is essentially a computer with all the hardware and guts ripped out, I'm looking for fun - Nintendo has always provided that to me more than Sony or the X-Box ever could.

NINNNNNNNNNNNNNNTENDO!

Last time I was here, I said I was looking forward to the ps3. Well truth be told, I'm just going to stick with what I have now for the time being. (Ps2 and Xbox) I'm hearing prices will range around $500 - $700 for the ps3, and I'm as cheap as they come. Hell, I won't even pay $300 for the Xbox 360. (I didn't pay $200 for my XB or ps2)

Then again, I'll probably end up going for the 360 1st. I'm hearing that it doesn't have any good games.... As far as I can tell, they look pretty decent to me. But then again, I probably don't have good taste in games. I have been growing tired of them as of late. "shrugs" we'll see what happens a little later on down the line.

To this point, I am unimpressed with the next gen. systems. They made such a hype and the XBOX 360 isn't half of what I hoped for it and the PS3 is looking much the same way at this point. Microsoft has traditionally had poor sucess with console system. I personally think the first XBOX was a fluke and there slowly going to slip back into obscurity once again. The biggest dissapointment is PS3. For as much hype as it's gotten, I've yet to see anything that has blown me away. It hasn't hit stores yet, so I'll with hold my judgement until I actually play it for myself. But in all honesty the only one I still have faith in is Nintendo. From what I've seen of the other two, I'll admit I'm worried, but right now there my flicker of hope for the future of gaming.

Exactly... the 360 and the PS3 are the same exact consoles with slightly better graphics... Ooooh, groundbreaking! I love how Nintendo always tries new things and takes a lot of risks. They're not content to just sit there and upgrade the same system and remarket as a new one. That's what I love about Nintendo.
