Had to write this for my English 101 portfolio. We had to write a description of Heaven or Hell through actions and the senses of touch, sight, smell, hear, and taste. Comments are greatly appreciated and desired.

I opened my eyes and gazed up into the sky and at the environment around me. Everything was black and white with nothing but different shades of gray in between. Horrible stenches came across my nostrils and made me sick to my stomach and almost gag; the strong smells of sulfur and of rotting flesh. I searched for the nearest exit wanting to get away from those ghastly smells. A blood-curdling scream of a woman kept me frozen in my tracks as I rapidly looked around for the cause or woman, but couldn?t to any avail. Finally finding my ability to move, I rushed about in a state of utter panic looking for the nearest exit. Seeing a building to my right, I did not waste any time to enter its bloodstained doors. The moment I entered, a wave of cold air washed over me sending a shiver throughout my body. This wasn?t a tall building, but it was almost twice as wide, wide like a warehouse.

Inside there were many doors and rooms. So many I felt dizzy just by looking at them all. Entering the nearest door, I spotted several people sitting at a long wooden table. On closer inspection, I noticed that the table had plenty of food. No one was eating, and they all had their arms stretched out. It seemed odd that they couldn?t bend their elbows, nor did they seem to want to feed each other. Noticing my stomach growling, I grabbed a loaf of bread, ripped off a piece and put it in my mouth. I coughed and gagged, spitting out what looked like sand and maggots. I turned pale at the thought of almost actually eating that. I dashed over and grabbed a golden goblet full of water. The moment I took my first sip, I dropped the goblet in shock; it hit the floor in a loud clank, blood spilling from its hold.

Backing away nervously, I turned around and ran out of the room and into another. I screamed and stood on top of a steep cliff. There was a big fierce fiery pit burning below, its flames reaching extraordinary heights and threatening to singe my clothing. Trying to get away, I tried to run to the door. I slipped, and fell into a pit and into the flames. I screamed as darkness consumed me as the fire burned my flesh.
