Retribution
Neon Genesis Evangelion: The Children The pilots of the Evas are human children ? no older than 16, and yet, they are forced to bear the burden of the world on their shoulders. The magnitude of their actions affects the entire world daily. They have no choice ? they are drafted into service, and expelled when they are washed out from their intensive use. They are the saviors of the world. ?Welcome to NERV. You are here because you have passed our aptitude test with flying colors.? The children nervously glanced around the room, wondering when they had taken the test, what NERV was, along with a million other questions. ?The aptitude test was not a written examination; rather, it was the result of approximately fifteen years of constant surveillance on all Japanese youth. You were tracked, every choice you made factored into how compatible you were with the current Evas. As of now, you are part of NERV.? The man saluted them crisply, and handed each child their identification tags. ?What if I don?t want to pilot an Eva?? ?Shut up, girl! You should be honored that we were chosen to protect the world!? The children degenerated into chaos, debating the morality of declining to protect the human race for the sake of their own happiness. The shouts were ceased when they heard the voice of Gendo Ikari. ?I will not tolerate my pilots fight one another. Your enemies are the angels, no one else. You have forty-eight hours to move into your new apartments on NERV grounds,? he finished, and walked out of the briefing room, without décor or ceremony. ?You heard the man, move! You being training in two days, so you might want to settle in first. Welcome, to NGE: The Children! This is going to be an RPG based in an alternate universe of Evangelion? meaning any events occurring in the official version are now void, save the First Impact. The main story of this RPG will be the pilot?s struggles, both mentally and physically. For your information: As for the format of the RPG once we get to playing, it will be in Chapter format, but with no posting order. The characters in the chapter will be listed, and only they can post within it. There will be an objective to complete for me to end the chapter? and usually, it won?t be too hard. You will be starting out by beginning your training. This will be brief and skimmed over, as this isn?t the most important part. Once the pilot?s training is completed, pilots will be dispatched to combat the angels. Only 5 pilots (in total) will be selected, so make your sign-up good. I will allow for people to sign-up for other positions within NERV, but no one can be Gendo. Please note that by signing up for these other positions, you will probably experience very little activity? there?s nothing I can do about that. Sign-up Sheet Name: Japanese only Age: I expect around 13 ? 16 Appearance: An image is good, but descriptions get bonus points. Eva?s Appearance: An image is good, but descriptions get bonus points. Personality: In-depth, please. Insecurities: I will be using this to decide exactly what angels you fight, your training, etc. Biography: Quality over quantity Defining Moment: A very important moment in the pilot?s life. Make it evident why this is important in their life. I?m not looking for cryptic meanings here. Thanks, and work hard on these! I intend to post my sign-up here soon.
Sakura
OOC: I didn't expect you to have it up so fast, Alex. I'll do the rest later, when I think of it. EDIT: Sorry it took me so long, I'm not proud of it, but I'm pretty satisfied, if I think of changes to make, I'll edit them in. EDIT2: Changed the appearance of my Eva. Let me know if I should change anything. Name: Sakura Chiméiteki Age: 16 Appearance: Here. Her complexion is a medium tan due to being outdoors a lot. She stands at about 5'6" and has a medium to strong-ish built from athletics, sport and gymnastics. Sakura wears all types of clothes, though she usually prefers different kinds of pants and shirts, but she doesn't have anything against skirts, dresses and tops. Eva?s Appearance: Here, but navy blue in the dark red sections, and a pale blue in the lighter red areas. The grey and black sections remain as they are, but all the yellow bits are silver. Personality: Sakura's a fun girl that loves to hang around with her friends. If you ask any of her friends to describe her, most would say understanding, funny, loyal, and brave. Not many know the dangerous side of her, which comes out when she's angered greatly by someone. Sakura hates to lose, which makes her a fierce competitor, always trying her best to win when the odds are stacked against her. When fighting, she can become a completely different person, more cold. But that's only if she's in a deadly situation. If it's a normal battle she still likes to joke around a little. Sakura hates to lose at anything, including fights and battles. Insecurities: Sakura has a fear of failure and a hatred of losing, and thus makes her always wanting to win and succeed in everything she does. Biography: Sakura was born in Tokyo-3 and had lived there her entire life, not knowing much about what lie beyond besides what she heard or learned about. Sadly she never knew her mother since she died a few months after she was born, because she had a brain tumor. She lived with her father who was always busy since he worked a job as an engineer at NERV. When she was young her father always told her to win in life, and since that was drilled into her head, she slowly grew a fear of failure, she had to win. As a child, when she lost at anything she would throw temper tantrums. Her father realised what he had done to her and explained that she couldn't win at everything, but to try her best to win, and accept it gracefully if she didn't. Sakura understood, but she still has a bit of a breakdown if she loses. If it's something small, like a simple game they're playing, she isn't too bad, but if it's more complicated like best in the class, she has a breakdown. To this day she still works her hardest to be the best at everything she does, Sakura often gets awards for being the best in her subjects which she's proud of. To her, the reason behind why she wants to win is to please her father and make him proud of her. Defining Moment: A little Sakura of 4, sat on a couch and giggled as she played with her daddy joyfully. He tickled her, the corners of his eyes wrinked with a smile. He wasn't very old, but the tired face and lines made him look much older than he was. Suddenly he stopped and sat Sakura up, looking very serious. Sakura cutely cocked her head to the side, watching her father's change in mood. "Listen to me, Sakura. Win in life, and get a good job. Be special, make sure everyone knows and remembers you for doing something great. Promise me you will." he told her. "Daddy, what do you mean?" "Just promise me!" he stressed. "I promise." she said quietly, she didn't understand at all. As the years went by, he kept repeating the statement and asked her to promise him, she did so, still not understanding, but when it came to it, she wanted to win, and she didn't know why. Two years later A now 6 year old Sakura sat at a table in school where they were playing draughts (checkers). The boy playing using the black pieces jumped up from his seat, punching the air with his fists, cheering as he won the game. Sakura growled and pushed the board to the ground, sending the pieces everywhere. She started to scream loudly. "No! I won, I have to win! I always win!" she shouted. "Nuh uh, I won, and you lost!" the boy taunted. Sakura gave a sort of war cry and tackled the boy, smacking him as she pinned him to the ground. The teachers pulled her off him and restrained her as some others took care of the boy. Sakura had angry tears dripping down her cheeks as she struggled against the person that held her. She had to win, her daddy said so. Sakura sat on a chair with her arms folded, she was in the Principal's office and he was calling her father. He hung up and told her that he would be on his way. She sent a glare at him and turned her head away with a 'hmph'. 'Daddy told me I have to win. And I will.' she thought silently, her eyes blazed with the competitive desire to win.
Lionheart
Name: Akira Otori Age: 14 Appearance: PIC Eva?s Appearance: PIC Personality: Akira is a friendly guy to talk to. He seems to never run out of something to say in a conversation. His heart is pure and kind, only during battle is his dark side shown. He turns to a stage of berserk against the enemy when pushed over his limit. If you had to pick a spot to find him, his room would be a good guess. He is mostly found sitting on his bed, thinking hard about his unknown past. It seems he has two sides to him, one a friendly kind kid, the other is a ballistic monster in battle. Don't get him wrong, he loves to take down enemy scum, but he hates to turn into the beast that overtakes him. Insecurities: He fears in battle, not to get too much out of control. He always had dreams of going into berserk and never getting out. Another is going berserk and turn on his one teammates. He could vision seeing his own teammates blood flowing off his hands. Biography: Akira Otori to him, he has no parents. Though he could remember hours of the experiments from the government. Training over planes, combat, fire arms, etc. Akira was being made to be a weapon, but one day he was able to explore the nearby city after one afternoon training. He saw there was life outside of the government walls. That night, he snuck out and escaped into the mountains. He traveled far into the days. He saw life and the world during those days, but due to the lack of food and water, he collapsed at the edge of a unknown city to him. He woke up that next day, under the roof of NERV. Defining Moment: [Not known to Akira] His mother and father died during a government sweep over their small village. Mainly for land, They saw the 4 year old, Akira had strength when they killed his parents. He was able to knock down a soldier. They took him in and did many test on Akira. Jokopoko
Name: Kazuki Sho. Age: 15. Appearance: Click here. His normal clothes have a more serious undertone and he doesn?t feel comfortable wearing casual clothes. Kazuki is roughly 5? 6? but is still growing. EVA?s Appearance: Click here. N/B: This is in actual fact EVA Unit-04 but I?m hoping it?s alright to use it as this is an ?alternate dimension? so Unit-04 here may be Unit-00 etc. Personality: Kazuki is the epitome of an over-achiever but he doesn?t see this as a bad thing. In his mind he is the best around so the only way to get better is to set his goals so high he can?t achieve them and so he makes himself better. Many people see him as a big-headed fool who thinks he is simply the best; though he doesn?t agree with them Kazuki doesn?t go out of his way to quell these rumours. The reasons being he doesn?t have the time and he knows himself they aren?t true. Kazuki?s grandfather and father were soldiers in the Japanese Army so he sees it as a family tradition to be a great fighter which is why he sets himself up as the bests and acts so superior around others. His insufferable nature makes it very hard for others to get to know him or make friends with him, not that he minds of course. He sees friendship as a distraction to the new challenge of the EVA-Units so he feels it?s best to avoid it. The only people he truly cares about are himself and his family but most notable his little brother and sister [Twins]. Kazuki and his father have a good relationship but it is not as good as the one he shares with his mother and siblings because his father hasn?t played that much of a role in Kazuki?s life what with the his military service and now Kazuki being sent to N.E.R.V. Despite this Kazuki always thinks of his father while fighting in the hopes that it will give him the strength to battle on. Insecurities: While on the surface Kazuki appears to be utterly calm and collected he is actually hiding his true feelings and emotions. He has a fear of rejection as he has never had a really relationship with people outside of his family, coupled with this is that he is constantly worrying about the well-being of his family and is all too aware what will happen to them should the Angels defeat the EVAs. Being around fellow teenagers is a new challenge for him as it introduces a whole new set of social interactions that can go wrong. Biography: Kazuki has been brought up hearing tales of the his ancestors exploits in the wars before the Second Impact and so he has always been a keen history buff as well as an oppression with the Army. Though it was a rare thing for his father to take Kazuki with him to one of the military bases it did happen on occasion, when he did Kazuki was always fascinated by the operation of the military hard wear and the drilled precision of the officers. During his early childhood he would always be playing with his toy soldiers, building the model kits of air craft and drawing pictures of himself in the future as a top class fighter pilot in the hopes of making his father proud. When Kazuki was eight his mother gave birth to twins and they were named Akemi and Yuki. With the arrival of his brother and sister Kazuki had found the inspiration he needed to force him beyond his dreams and make a really attempt at being a military officer. Upon entering school Kazuki found his attention often wondered while in class because he was day-dreaming about the military and being a great pilot. These plans may have come to fruition had it not been for the death of his mother. Unknown to almost everyone his mother was one of the researcher working at the Japanese NERV branch. She and her team were experimenting on one of the newly designed Evangelion Units, in a mix up she became trapped in one of the experimental ?plugs? and died within the Evangelion. After his mothers death Kazuki became much closer with his brother and sister because he felt it was his duty to protect them now, given their father was away for much of the time. When NERV called on Kazuki to undergo aptitude tests to become an Evangelion pilot at first he was reluctant to leave his siblings but soon his sense of duty and the ever present lust to protect his country returned. By grim coincidence, or calculated risk, Kazuki was paired with the Evangelion Unit in which his mother died. Defining Moment: Many believe that it was the death of Kazuki?s mother and his fathers long absences that drove him to grow up as fast as he did. But those close to him know that the true moment that has defined Kazuki was the birth of his brother and sister. It was in them that he saw the innocence and purity of human life and this feeling has been a driving force within him as long as they have been alive. His choice to protect them after his mothers passing further engrained this belief into him. Now that he is an Evangelion pilot he continually thinks of them while he trains and knows that it is for there sake, if nothing else, that he must prevent the Angels from enacted the Third Impact and destroy the human race.
Retribution
Joko, your Eva is quite alright with me - you could be the Third Child for all I care. Name: Miyamoto Keiji (last, first) Age: 15 Appearance: [link] Keiji is blessed with his mother?s jet-black hair, which he took the liberty of growing out. His eyes are a very dark brown, and nothing special to look at, but his face grows on those who study it long enough. Many would not consider him outright handsome, but above average in the looks department. His frame is not muscular, but athletic and toned from playing soccer on-season, and training off-season for the past eight years. He stands at about average height (~5?8? in Japan). He can usually be seen wearing white or gray, with accents of navy, and is fond of cargo pants and t-shirts. Eva?s Appearance: [link] Keiji?s Eva (nicknamed Oni) is not exactly a conventional one ? rather, it hovers by utilizing the propulsion generated by it?s own AT-Field. The luminescent lights seen in the crevices of Oni are powered by the same source. Personality: Keiji is the type of child who would quietly accept the suffering if a bully were to shove him around. He hates social clashing, and prefers if the machinery were to operate smoothly with little friction between egos. Therefore, he has adopted the philosophy of a servant, and decides to do what is asked of him, rather than try to fight against it. Whether he wants to do it or not, he will usually follow his orders verbatim. He is not a socialite, but he is not a hermit either ? he internally craves acceptance, and attempts to receive it by following orders. Insecurities: Keiji is afraid of death, more properly the death of others rather than himself. One might diagnose him with a fear to lose those who are important to him, but in all reality, Keiji is much more self-less than that. He fears for civilians, for people he doesn?t know, and is afraid that in the rare instance he can serve them, he may fail them miserably. He will let others survive at almost any cost, be it even his own life. Biography: Keiji was born into a middle-class home, him being the oldest and only child of the family. His father was a computer technician, and his mother was a public defender for Tokyo-3. Keiji was smart, but not a genius, and received high marks throughout his school career. The first third of his life was happy, innocent, and carefree. He got excellent grades, his family was not struggling, and the future seemed to be an open road laid out in front of him, waiting for him to divide and conquer. When Keiji was five, his mother died from breast cancer unexpectedly. She was making a miraculous recovery, and right before his eyes, his mother was ripped out of his life forever. He and his father never quite recovered from the loss; they moved to a new house to escape the memories of his late mother, and Keiji enrolled into a new school. He stopped caring about his social life, and withdrew himself to his father; he became a pushover, the quiet kid in the back of the classroom that no one talked to. He always got perfect grades, though, which surprised everyone. No one understood how such a quiet child, who experienced so much loss would be able to salvage his life and maintain his scholarly path. His life continued in the same monotonous fashion through high school as well, with the only modification to the daily bore being soccer practice, which his father recommended to him to relieve the stress from his life. Defining Moment: ?Daddy! Look! I got a one-hundred percent on my test!? Keiji?s young eyes danced with the lights of exuberance as he gazed at his father, waving his test in front of him. ?That?s ? great, but we need to talk about something very important.? His voice was soft, downtrodden and weary. His son?s eyes darkened with the fear of anticipation. A piece of Keiji screamed with fear at the tone of his father?s voice. His mother was in the hospital because of breast cancer, but she was expected to recover within the month. ?Is it mommy?? When the response did not come immediately, his eyes welled up. ??Yes. She died last night from the cancer. It?s just you and I now.? Then, the unexpected happened. The pillar of his life, his strength and sanctuary crumbled underneath him. His father began to cry inconsolably, quaking with the bouts of grief washing through him. Keiji wanted to weep with him, to morn his loss, but he could not. ?It?s my fault, isn?t it? If I had just kept telling mommy to get a check up ? why did I let her stop me? I just ?? Keiji looked at the floor, at a complete loss for words. As his father cried in the background of his mind, he slumped onto the floor and curled up into fetal position. His mother had died when he was only five. Starwind
Name: Toji Asaki Age: 14 Appearance: Eva Appearance: Actual Eva four pic. Just call me the fourth child. For those who don't know the series, like then, this one not only comes with a prog. knife, but also it's arms ar capable of extending to little over twice there normal length giving it great reach and striking, stabbing power. Personality: He's a little withdrawn. He's not heroic or even always kind, he just feels obligated to be here. He keeps to himslef alot, and hides behind his smile to keep others from prying into his thoughts. He's not shivalrice, but he does feel think he's obligated to be kind to women. He shows little interest in th eopposite sex, but others tell him that will come soon enough. He agrees with people alot, simply to avoid conflict. He apologizes even if it isn't always his fault, yet another attempt to avoid conflict. He's weak and is often taken advantage of, this is why he so easily agreed to take on this mission. He may not talk much, but he hates being alone and is easily depressed. Insecurities: He is afraid if he allows himself to disagree with someone will be alone again. He thinks eveyone hates him and can feel the eyes of others digging at him whenever he is forced to be in a public situation. To hide this he smiles and jokes to keep others from digging into him. He's afraid of being alone, even when he sleeps. Bio: His parents left him when he was quite young. The two of them fought alot and both left, leaving him to himself. This is the reason he avoids conflict, he believes it will leave him alone again. After his parents ditched him, he went to live with his uncle. He wasn't very nuturing and was even abusive at times, he spent lots of time in depression and even contemplated suicide for quite some time. He was always a star student in school, and was admired by his teachers for his seemingly happy personality and behavior. In actuality he is easily hurt and keeps him self emotionally cut off. Be that as it may he still doesn't want to be alone. When he was in high school, the school became aware, due to the scars and bruises, that his uncle was abusing him and quickly took him out of his care. He ended up living with one of his teachers. It was just a way to keep him from dropping out or ending up dead. It was at this time he took up the violin and continues to play though he's not very good. he took lessons for a while, but stopped after they called him to Tokyo 3. He doesn't want to be there, but the said he was the only one, so he did it anyway. Defining Moment: For him it was his parents leaving. This has left him with the feeling that conflict will drive people from him, so he finds is easier to agree then to argue. He thinks people hate him since they left him because they were fighting. The truth of the matter is there arguing had nothing to do with him, but he felt the backlash anyway. When they left him, he lived alone in that house for a week. He was 4 years old. It wasn't til the movers came to the house to gather there things that they found him huddled in a corner, starved and dehydrated. He was coverd in vomit and tears. This moment left him in his state and caused the events that would only further the damage in his life.
0ber0n the Neko
Name: Keitaro Ashima Age: Just recently turned 16 Appearance: He is 5'8", 130 lbs, and an excellent athlete. He has black eyes, and dyed red hair. He wears a leather jacket and shades just about everywhere, and has access to a motorcycle that he obsesses over. It was his dad's bike, but he never talks about it. Eva?s Appearance: Keitaro's Eva is a somewhat noble figure, strongly contrasting with Keitaro's outward appearance, but deeply aligned with his inner self. It resembles a european knight, donning a spiked war-helmet, and a bright, silver carapace. It has a retractable heated sword at its his hip, which is especially useful for penetrating an Angel's hardened core. Personality: Keitaro is an interesting character. He characterizes the traditional "bad boy", and is known for his skill in a brawl. He rides a motorcycle to school, refuses to wear his uniform, and every girl in the school has a crush on him and his dashing good looks. He is boastful and headstrong on the outside, but has a very noble soul. He dislikes those who prey on the weak, and will defend himself, his friends, and his family at any cost. Insecurities: He does not appear to have any insecurities, but his main conflict is within himself. He fights back all memories of his father, whose death was an enormous tradgedy, but also an obscure blessing. He has an overbearing trust of others, and this often leads him down paths he would not like to take. His father's schizophrenia is said to be hereditary, and he believes he might be going insane. Biography: His father died in a motorcycle crash when he was ten (The bike was in perfect condition, and has remained so ever since). The crash was presumably caused by a drunk driver, but the true cause is unknown. His father was loving, kind, and merciful, but became a monster. He started coming home drunk, and beating on Keitaro's mother. Afterwards, his consciousness would kick in, and he would revert to his caring state. This would happen over and over. He was finally sent to a doctor, who told them that his father had a critical case of schizophrenia. This could lead him to be violent at times, and perfectly loving at others... with no memory of what had happened in the previous stage. It was a rare case that often proved to be hereditary. (I don't want to exposeany more of the story... I prefer to keep my character open for new routes of thought, if that doesnt bug you much. I think this is a good, basic outline.) Defining Moment: Learning of his father's death, he went into an episode of psychosis that lasted two weeks. After returning from the hospital, his memory of certain events had been obscured. It was then he realized he might have his father's schizophrenia.

When this happens, she feels its her job, as the next oldest female in her family, to try and take care of everyone. This puts alot of stress on her, but she looses all anger and hatred as she looks at the sun going down every night. When her father and mother make up, they normally try to thank Ryoko any way they can. They will make her a special meal, take them all out to dinner, of buy them a gift or two. This in turn makes everyone happy, causing the family to loose alot of their stress. Defining Moment: "Good morning everybody. Its another buitiful day here. Its about four o'clock, and the sun is due up in about twenty minutes." The alarm clock started its normal morning chant, waking Ryoko from her slumber. She slowly sat up, streached, and slipped on a pair of silk pants, and a flannel shirt her parrents had baught her a couple days before. As she walked to the kitched, she could hear her mother and father beginign their normal, morning ritual. Slowly, Ryoko made her way to the balcony, and was able to see the red sun rise over to couds. She smiled warmly as it heated her face. She loved the feeling of the sun on her face, the warm sensation, the comfort. It put her at peace. As she walked inside, her father and mother were yelling at each other, agian. This has been the second time in one week. It was starting to worry Ryoko, but agian, she walked over to her crying sister and sat next to her. "Come now, whats wrong? Is it mommy and daddy? Are they making you cry?" Ryoko asked in a motherly tone. Her younger sister nodded and began to cry in Ryoko's lap. She patted to top of her sister's head and smiled. She looked over at her parrents and they both grew quiet and looked at her. They knew what was wrong, and now they felt horrible. In seconds, Ryoko's mother and father were right there, trying to settle down Ryoko's sister before she woke her brothers. I think that about does it for me.
