Well, if anyone is interested, I just saw the announcement teaser trailer for X3, the third and final X-Men film over on this website, but just to warn you, it does run on QuickTime only, so you will need to download it if you don't have it already.

So, watch the trailer and any opinions can go here, I guess. I think I will quite enjoy Vinnie Jones as the Juggernaut, who, incidentally, doesn't look as goofy in the film as he does in the comics (by that I mean they've gotten rid of the big red helmet and things), and Angel looks pretty cool as well.

Another one who I think will please people is the appearance of Dr Hank McCoy, aka Beast. I was a little weirded out by the image of Beast in all his blue-furry glory dressed in a suit, but I guess all will be revealed on the 26th of May 2006!

Well, that trailer's really got my excitement going. It looks great, and I'm glad to see it doesn't look as if it's lost anything from the second movie. I only wish the first one was better, now ^_^;

I didn't know this was going to be the last one, though... in a way I'm kind of satisfied, as it shouldn't run into the same problems that the cartoon series did. There's only so much you can do effectively without drawing it out, after all. Three's a good number.

Still no Gambit, though...

Well, I did hear tell of Gambit being in this movie, although only really as an incidental character. So hopefully we should get at least a glimpse of the legendary Remy LeBeau.

Also, this may be the last X-Men movie, but it won't be the last set in the X-Universe. I have definitely heard things about there being at least two spin-off movies, featuring Wolverine and Magneto respectively. There is just too much of the X-Universe to leave undiscovered.

Although, back to X3, I am hoping that they do the whole Phoenix thing well, because I don't think the whole "extra-dimensional being from space" thing really worked too well.

I pretty much wet myself a little bit during this trailer, it looks freakin amazing. I was really impressed by both beast and angel, and cain't wait to see how well they do the whole flying thing. Because they really haven't had anyone fly in any of the previous X-Men's, not counting Storm floating in the elevator shaft while fighting toad or Magneto hovering on a small iron disk. So it will be interesting to see how well they do it.

And the thing I am most excited about, the fast ball special. Yes, it's finally here, the legendary move that have made fanboys spluge there pants for years is finally making it's way to the big screen, and I can't wait. I just hope they give colossus a Russian accent this time around.

Just read Phoenix: End Song, and you'll find out just how well it worked. The Phoenix being a cosmic entity is the essense of the character, if you take that out, it just means that Jean herself has cosmic powers which defy death and require the eating of suns to sustain, which I think is far less compelling than her battle with the Phoenix entity for control of her life.

Wow, trailer was great! I can't wait to see another good Marvel movie (didnt even BOTHER with fantastic four).

And as far as beast goes, well, maybe a suit and tie is more natural to him then you think. I read a few months ago that the best would be played by Frasier himself, Mr. Kelsey Grammar.

A few notes:

-Halle Berry finally has a decent wig on, this time. The wig in X2 was pretty good, but they added these touches of yellow/blonde to it that I just didn't like. Also, it's nice to see her do some real flying, for a change.
-Kelsey Grammer looks great as Beast. He's blue as all get-out, and Grammer himself has the perfect voice for the character.
-Juggernaut is a mixed bag for me. Vinnie Jones' muscle suit is a little jarring, but I'm so glad they didn't use his wok-helmet.

Actually, I like the explanation given in Phoenix: End Song. The idea that Jean simply has cosmic powers and that the Phoenix isn't a separate entity is pretty clever. It means Jean isn't simply a tool of some higher power, and explains why the Phoenix Force always comes to her. Of course, it also means that Emma Frost and Mastermind gave Jean a split personality when they tried to control her, and the Dark Phoenix was Jean being driven insane. It makes sense, and it finally gives a reason for Jean to accept the blame for the Dark Phoenix's actions-- something she's been doing ever since her clone died.

And with that said, I like the direction they're taking the Phoenix in this movie. I'm not quite sure what'll drive her mad, but based on the trailer, it looks like
Jean levels an entire city
.
