Gaming Recommendations

When the new year starts I'll probably buy a whole load of cheap games.... (Not at once) Because I'm like a year or 2 behind.

But before I do, I'd like a few opinions.

The games I have...

Metal Gear Solid 1 - 3
Devil May Cry 1 & 3
Halo 1 & 2
Ninja Gaiden
Onimusha 3
Gungrave: Overdose
Hyper Streetfigher Anniversary
Final Fantasy 8
Dead or Alive 2: Hardcore
Dead or Alive 3
Gran Turismo 3
X-Men Legends
Soul Calibur 1 & 2
Tekken Tag Tournament

Ok... So maybe I'm way behind. Anyways.... Most of the games I'm into are Action / Adventure or fighting games.

A few things I don't care for....

Gamecube, DS, GBA, PSP.... I don't own any of these and don't plan to buy one either.

Gran Theft Auto series.... "shrugs" Don't care for it. So no recommendations on these.

And last but not least.... Let's stay away from the Final Fantasy series. I'll kick the new year off by playing a few RPG's but I still don't care for them either.

Kingdom Hearts is one I've been debating about. I don't particularly care for Disney.... But I hear it's somewhat like Zelda: OoT

Full Metal Alchemist...... Actually.... no I wouldn't like this either. (Lets just say I've seen the gameplay and don't really like it.)

Soul Calibur 3 isn't cheap but I'll get it eventually ^_^.
Drakengard... interesting choice... What's it about?

Xenosaga..... I'll have to rent this out 1st.

Now I know I said I'll try Rpg's out when the new year start but good god.... Didn't say I'll try all of them out lol.

i'm behind in a lot if games too. it's mainly because i wait for them to get cheaper. here's a list :
xenosaga ii, lotr: 2 towers & rotk, digital devil saga 1 & 2, smt: nocturne, guild wars, mercenaries, ico, prince of persia 2, haunting grounds,eternal darkness,zone of the enders 1 & 2, etc., etc., etc.
i'm that behind. i just got my ps2 yesterday, but i can't play it until after christmas because it's a gift from my dad and he already wrapped it. i borrowed my cousin's ps2 and now he wants it back. i have a game cube though.

-Prince of Persia (1, 2, 3)
-Resident Evil 4 (PS2)
-Gran Turismo 4 (not too cheap, though)

At the moment, my brain is dead. So those are all the suggestions I have as of this second. And like you have already been told, Kingdom Hearts is a great game. But whether you like it or not or whether you [I]buy[/I] it or not is entirely up to you.

I just rented Xenosage 2. Don't like it.
It just seem too cheesy.

I'm being very picky with RPG's at the moment. lol (Then again.... I'm picky with games in general lol)

I just ordered PoP1. I'll get 3 when the price drops. I may pass on 2. (Not a fan of metal and that could affect the whole game for me. But then again if the gameplay is smooth then hopefully it'll be a minor issue like DMC3.)

If you like action and are on a budget, I would suggest Burnout 3 (PS2+XBOX) and either Otogi game for XBOX. Burnout 3 is one of the most exciting games I have played, ever, and Otogi is just plain satisfying. If you don't like the gameplay in Katamari Damacy you either A:Have some deep personality issues that make you believe that your games have to be cool OR B: Have a five second attention span. I've never been so satified as when I first rolled up a sumo wrestler.

I have personality issues because I don't care for a particular game.... riiiiight /sarcasm. So what's your point? What you may find great, I may find boring. "shrugs"

Otogi is like Dynasty Warriors right? (Gameplay wise)

I wouldn't really say I'm on a budget. I'm just not willing to spend $50 on a game. (I am very cheap lol)

Otogi plays a lot better than Dynasty Warriors. It definately looks better and even with weak AI it feels a lot more satisfying than Dynasty Warriors.

I'd recommend Call of Cthulhu for Xbox. It's $30 this week at Best Buy. It's a really great horror/thriller first person game that's set in the early 1900s.

I would have to say that a decent choice in the way of RPGs would have to be, If you can find it Cheap, Suikoden 2. Now I know that If I said this at a different forum I would be flamed bigtime but It is the best RPG ever, period.

Since the game is rare then I have to suggest that you get Virua Fighter 4 if you are into a deep fighting game (ie: not a button basher) then you would enjoy it but since Dead or Alive is present then I am guessing that no you don't.

If you like a shooter then go XIII; The game is wicked fun to play (although tough for Newbs to it) and has a gripping storyline.

It's based upon the horror stories of H.P. Lovecraft. The "Cthulhu Mythos" is a whole line of things based on some of his short stories. It's worth looking into... it's been getting good reviews. IGN recently gave it their "Best Game No One Played" award for 2005.

I suggest Shadow of the Colossus.

The only things you might not like about it are the HUGE areas (you say you have a short attention span) and the puzzles which seem to stump a lot of people (though nothing a quick glance at gameFAQs won't fix). I'd estimate its length, if you didn't already know what to do, at maybe 10-12 hours on the compulsory stuff. That's excluding the huge world you can explore.

The Colossi battles are amazingly fun (and also quite simple, once you work out how to get on them) and the graphics are breathtaking - this is the best looking game I've seen this generation. It truly feels epic to play. So if you like awesome graphics and some short bursts of heart-pounding action, go for Colossus. The music rocks too.

Beyond Good and Evil is pretty good. Especially for the price, I bought it new at GameStop for 10 bucks.

personally i recommend DDR any edition for the ps2 or the xbox. you would also have to buy the pad, but's it's GREAT for parties and even if you wanna lose some poundage.(a good new years resolution) but be forwarned....YOU WILL LOOK LIKE A DORK PLAYING THIS GAME!

Capcom Classics (ps2/ budget title/ like twenty games in one) but be forewarned, it is super frickin hard. but it has superb games.

just a few i recommend. but you should definitely research your material before you make your final purchase. i've made that mistake a couple of times and i'll never make that mistake again. buy the type of games you like, but be open to new experiences. you might discover that you actually like that sort of game, you just needed to see what you wanted for that type of game.

I have all 3 Metal Gear games as well as SC1-2. Tony Hawks eh.... I kind got bored of them after 3 but I'll try underground out.

Yea. I make sure to rent before I buy anything. (Probably why I'm very picky and have few games)
