It's time to start the music. It's time to light the lights. It's time to raise the curtain on the muppet show tonight!

How many people remember this show? Just to show a good pair of hands I certainly do. I have grown up to this and I don't feel sorry for it. Concidering after I was born this show was on before the foul being known as Barney the Dinosaur entered television. As for the muppets and I do mean the muppets and not Seaseme street (sp?) Today I came to realise that the muppets were so much more not mature but more of a all ages then the SS gang. The SS gang consisted of always trying to teach the feeble minded...errr... the young while as the Muppets just kept us laughing with The Great Gonzo's amazing stunts and Fozie's classic: Awaka waka waka stand up comedy.

Not to mention the star guests. However I hate to admit it but I do not remember any of the men or woman who were the guests but the muppets all showed a good familiar face. I am not ashamed to say I am a fan to the day I was born to the day I die. I know favorties should not become a topic so I will just say my favorite is none other than the swedish chief himself. Muppets I find helped me though my entire childhood and I hope my future children will enjoy it as much as I do. What are your thoughts on the Muppet show or any of their films?

My brother got Season One of The Muppet Show on DVD for Christmas, so we watched some of that today. The Muppet Show still rules. It caters almost perfectly to my sense of humor, haha. Some of the jokes are a bit dated or a bit too corny, but the pure awesome of the Muppets keeps the laughs flowing most of the time. From the first disc I've enjoyed the Ruth Buzzi and Rita Moreno shows the most. Great stuff.

As for my favorite Muppet... Gonzo was always my favorite growing up, but now it's either Rowlf or Fozzie. Rowlf is just cool as hell, and Fozzie is hilarious whether his jokes are incredibly corny or just plain bizarre. I think I'm leaning more towards Fozzie at the moment. It's incredibly rare that I don't laugh at a Fozzie joke. Then again, Rowlf has "I Never Made An Onion Cry," which is an awesome song. Hm.

Well, Sesame Street really isn't comparable aside from muppet usage... lol.

In any case, I bought the season set the week it came out, which was at least a few months ago now. I watched all of the episodes in a matter of days and really enjoyed it. I didn't recognize all of the guests, but I did know most of them. The DVDs have a nice trivia extra feature that tells you stuff about all of them while you watch the episode, which helped with some of the more obscure stars on the show.

I was actually pretty excited that Disney was rereleasing a bunch of muppet films this past November... but I've not gotten around to buying any of them yet. I think they included The Great Muppet Caper, The Muppet Movie, Muppet Christmas Carol and Muppet Treasure Island. They didn't release Muppets Take Manhattan for whatever reason.

Unfortunately, they put fullscreen and widescreen on the same DVD and I guess the transfer is not all that special because of it. I'm rather hesitant to buy any of them now.

I remember having numerous debates with my cousin on just what exactly Gonzo was.
He's a whatever! ;)

I just received that for Christmas today from my Gramma...I now remember why I love it. The humour is just right for me, not stupid or crude. Yes, at times the jokes are a little obtuse, or corny...or filled with puns...but I love it, it's just right. Especially Statler and Waldorf, they remind me of my Grandpa.

Of all the Muppets, I think my favourite is Zoot. I cannot honestly tell you why, but he is.

And...that's all I have to say.

I used to LOVE the muppet show where you could see behind the curtains where they were are messing about and the star guest was messed about...those two old men who were always sat on the balcony seat were quite funny...

I remember going to Florida about two years ago and going into unversal studios and watching a show to do with the muppets where the room had be compleatly re-made..it was a 3-D show was really quite amusing...Ahh i miss those shows...now we have stupid low-quality shows to fill saturday mornings....

OMFG, I love TEH Muppets. They ROX my Sox. LOL.

Now with all joking aside; I abosutely loved the muppets and used to watch it whenever I could. Unfortunatly I was born a little before they were taken off of Normal TV over in Australia. Which was Unfortunate indeed but my mum and dad had tons of tapes of it so I was sufficed with that.

My favourite Muppet as no doubt either the Sweedish Chef, Animal or the Saxophone guy. I loved all three of them.

Muppets rock! I love Kermit the frog and Gonzo, they were my favorite characters. I always tried to find out why Miss Piggy liked Kermit so much? She was a pig for G's sake and he was a frog, a frog I tell you people. XDDD :animeswea

My brother got the first season on DVD for Christmas, and although we've only watched the first disc, I'm absolutely loving it.

The first sketch is still to my mind one of the best (the one with the dancing cow-things, I'm not even going to attempt to spell the name of the song they sing here, because it is not even a real word).

My other favourite sketch had to be the one with Zoot playing a saxophone solo, that consisted of one note every dozen or so bars, and he then ended up accompanied by a small hairy guy who played a bell.

I think one of my favourite Muppets is Animal, purely because, even though the gags involving him are just pure stupidity and slapstick violence, they can make me laugh just by making Animal do his famous wide-mouthed laugh.

So, to summarise, the Muppets are teh awesome.

Mahna Mahna doo doo doo do doot.... the cow things don't seem to like it when he improvises and scats, do they?

And Zoot gets SO agravated by the Mahna Mahna guy...so agravated to the point where he causes explosions to come from his saxapone...'tis great! Hee.
