Your Guitar & Setup

Whoooeee! Been a long time since I started a thread.

Anywho, who else of my fellow OB members are obsessed with guitars like me? Tell your current or dream setup. Include any thing a fellow guitar maniac would enjoy.

My setup:

Guitar: Epiphone Les Paul Standard, cherry sunburst finish, 2 Alnico Classic chrome humbuckers, chrome hardware, or Fender Standard Stratocaster, 3-tone sunburst, white pickguard

Amplifier: Vox AD50 50-watt (tube simulator), 12" Vox Original speaker, and a Vox Pathfinder 15-watt practice amp w/ reverb

Effect Pedals: Original Crybaby wah-wah, Big Muff Pi Fuzzbox, DigiTech Screamin' Blues Overdrive/Distortion, Danelectro Hashbrowns Flanger and PB&J Delay.

I stuck with Vox amps since they have that classic British roar, but can deliver really nice clean tones. The AD50 has great on-board effects, while the Pathfinder can be really loud for 15 watts

I wanted the bite of single-coils, so I chose the best in the single coil buisness: the Fender Strat. Say what you will, this guitar can scream thru the Vox, and with the addition of the Screamin' Blues or Big Muff, this thing becomes a monster.

As for my Les Paul, what else can I say? Perfect tone, perfect looks, and perfect neck action make it the classic it is. Epiphone really wowed me.

My pedals are good too. The Crybaby has been a standard since the '60's, so why not stick with it. The Danelecro pedals were cheap and are worth twice the value I paid. I'm glad I spent 20$ on them both. I bought my Screamin' Blues pedal a few days ago and it really adds alot of gain, harmonics, and sustain to my playing. It also makes some wicked feedback when needed. The Big Muff doesn't work, sadly, but it really fuzzed when it did.

I think I have a pretty good rig.

PS2 hooked up to TV.
Guitar Hero disc loaded.
Guitar Controller plugged in.
Ready to jam.

Ok, I really don't own a real guitar. I'm a wind musician myself. I play the sax.
But guitars have always held a certain gleam to me.
When I was little my dad took me to a Twisted Sister concert. Who couldn't love guitar after something like that?

At my house I have some pretty generic stuff. I should start by saying that I am really really broke constantly.

I have a New York Pro guitar that is basically a knock-off of a Fender Squier. It's black and white and I don't know much else about it, it came bundled with a small Danville amp for $150. I trashed the amp and got a Peavey one that is twice the size, which still isn't saying all that much, I think it's three feet tall, I don't have anything to measure with currently.

As for pedals, I have this cool Digitech pedal that you can program with eighty different settings and select from them. I also have this really nice Metal pedal that my friend sold me, it's really worn out, the labels are ripped apart, so I honestly have no idea what it is. Very nice distortion.

When I feel the need to play a good guitar, which is actually quite often, I just walk to my friend Rachel's house, which has a studio set up in it. She has two Epiphone Les Pauls of different colors and basically a bunch of equipment from your dreams. She also has some nice bass guitars and an electric violin, but they haven't invested in a drum set, sadly. I love her house.

That's about it.

Me and my friends have a pretty good setup between us. I have my Ibanez Bass Guitar and a Marshall 10 Amp (although I should be getting something with a little more wattage soon enough).

My mate Dan has a Les Paul with a Marshall 30 Amp, and a nice FX Pedal (I don't know what make it is), and my mate Ant has a Brian May Signature Guitar with a Vox amp (not sure of the wattage) and a multi-FX pedal, it has around 50 different effects on it I think.

Anyway, I have only been playing for a year next month, but I have also played the sax for 6 years.

I almost forgot my Peavy Backstage Chorus 20. Its really nice. 20-watts, 2 channels (high and low gain) , an extra-gain boost, EQ and voicing controls, chorus and spring reverb, and two 8" speakers. You can get some really Pantera-esque overdrive or Marshall distortion. It runs a pretty wide tonal gamut. My dad got it for free from my second cousin. The only downside is that some of the knobs are pretty sensitive, so adjusting the reverb or something will feedback a little. But it's no big deal, just a minor inconvienince.

Wildfire electric guitar
Drive amplifier

...='( it's so naked. It's not even a popular name brand. Oh well. The package only cost a hundred dollars and it's lasted quite a while. I haven't been fortunate enough to ever be able to buy a good pedal, nor a better amp. However, since I don't play concerts yet, I'm afraid this will have to do.
