Guest mangadraw4ever
I'm new here but I just wanted to ask a question. I'm pretty new at drawing manga and I got a few books on HTDM. They show me in the first chapter that when I draw the head, I first have to draw a circle and then I put a line for the eyes etc. Well, I have a hell of a time doing that and it never works out properly. It's not because I draw it wobbly or crooked, I got all the necessary templates and stuff for the circles curves and whatnot, but I just cant get the thing right. I then tried to draw without using the books chapter 1 methods, and found it a hell lot easier for myself to be able to draw faces. I was easily able to draw the eyes in center and the mouth ears etc. but not use the method that I think all manga drawers use. I was just wondering if all manga drawers use the circle method for faces and stuff and if so, I guess I'll just have to get used to it. :animesigh
Jewel 4 Souls
I have played with drawing some anime. I found free hand sometimes easier than trying to get the right shape. But using half of the a shape works. Another thing is a lot of, I mean a lot of patience and practice, tell you find you own drawing style. So keep your easer near and you pencil sharp. Good luck......^_^
Syk3
While this thread does have to do with drawing, since it's primarily manga I think I'll move it to Manga Workshop.
Chikara Kokoro
I found the same thing to be true when I started drawing, but once you get into different perspectives and drawing the whole body, the circle thing becomes vastly important. I personally would have very hard time without it. It might be better, if you are just starting out with drawing, to draw the circles, even if you don't like it now, to be sure that you don't have to retrain yourself later when you find you're messing up more as your skill improves. kitsunekami
ok, the "HTDM"(as you called them) books don't help you at all. i think you will find yourself much more succsesful, especially later on if you start out on your own without using a book.
