Haunting Experiences (and advice)

Have you ever had an extra terrestrial or haunting experience? Care to share?

Personally, mine started last night. You see, my grandma bought us a fancy new phone for Christmas. Last night we were using it for the first time and we missed the call. So my dad hits redial and it was just playing a tone for a while then he said that he heard some freakish voice. He let me and my mom try, each of us hitting redial, waiting for a minute or so, and then hearing the strange voice. It was no language I've ever heard, it was like someone was talking backwards in another language or something. We jokingly amused that it had been a call from hell or something.

Just a few minute ago, now morning, I heard a phone ringing downstairs. What was strange was that the phone next to me, in the computer room, wasn't ringing. In fact, the only ringing phone was the new one. I picked up the one next to me and found it was my mom.

"Hey, could you check on my dresser around this skirt and try to find my keychain?"
"Um, mom, for some reason only the new phone was ringing"
"I'll investigate it later, could you find the keychain?"

So I went downstairs, looked around a bit trying to figure out which of the dressers in my parent's room was hers, and finding no skirts or keychains on any of them. So I headed upstair and picked up the phone again.

"Erm, what precisely am I looking for?"

There was no answer.

"Mom?"

Then suddenly, and louder than before the freaky freakin voice came on! I panicked and hung up and she never called back. To make things worse, my parentsare not home and my bros are asleep.

So, what are your strange experiences?

That's definately weird! We get silent phone calls where basically the phone company is doing a routine computer call sort of thing.

I've had a few strange things happen, but the more recent ones are with the two people that haunt the land my house is on (we know it's the land cause my house is relatively new). One is a girl in a brown dress - a typical pre-Victorian wedding dress. She's a poltergeist, which doesn't mean she's aggressive but very emotional and able to interact with our plane of existance (i.e. she throws forks around -.-). My mum saw her once or twice and talked to her thinking it was me (eventually she realised it couldn't be me cause she has long hair). Saw her in broad daylight too.

The other one is a guy who I've seen. He's not evil but he's not good news either. He's also more recent I believe from his dress style - this century perhaps. I just saw him outside, standing next to some bushes with his back to me, looking at the houses across the street. Never seen or heard him since.

My aunty had a terrible experience with a ghost that was standing in the middle of the room staring right at her. She thought it was a burglar until he vanished into thin air.

I've only had one.

I was living in Pennsylvania at the time, and I was in the seventh grade. One winter morning I was up doing my usual routine--wake up, take shower, dry hair, eat breakfast--when I heard the doorbell ring. It was a school day, and I was doing my hair, so I assumed somebody else would get it.

No one did, because the doorbell rang again. "Could somebody get that?" I called from the bathroom, hoping that my brother would hear.

Again, no one answered. The doorbell rang a third time, and by that point my hair was dry and I was annoyed. I marched up the stairs (The house was a split level and partially underground) and looked through the peephole.

Snow there, and nothing more.

I backed away, thinking, not for the last time, that I was going insane. Then I laughed as I went upstairs to eat breakfast.

We sometimes get phone calls where all that happens on the other end is a series of random clicks. Apparently it's something call centres do - they have random number dialling machines which dial every possible combination of numbers, and every time someone answers one (i.e. every time one turns out to actually be a telephone number) it gets logged in the centre's database. Next time the centre's hired to cold-call everyone in the country, they'll call up those numbers.

So in short, when we get phone calls with clicking on the end, they're usually followed no more than a week later by "have you considered the benefits of double-glazed burglar alarms?"

I've got a tale for you.

About three years ago I went to visit a cousin living just outside of Lousiville Kentucky. Now about twenty minute from his house was a place called waverly sanatorium. I'm never heard of it before now but later research would show it's highly noted as being haunted, but let me continue (Look into it yourselves). So he tells me this and I think, pfffttt. At the time I was as much a sceptic as anyone you'd ever meet, so I decided to go and see what stupid little thing that made ti haunted.

Lesson time. For those of you who don't know what a santorium is, it's a place where they would send the mentally insane or those with highly contagious and dealdly diseases to prevent an epidemic, even though it rarely worked.

Anyway, so during this places high point in the thirty's, it averaged a death every hour. So when we get there the building is coverd in graffiti. Painted all over the place. Everything form gang symbols to pentagrams, the whole bit. So the first place he took me was, of all the things to find a place like this, was the gift shop. Yes, they actually had a gift shop, which sounds like a sick joke, but I swear to god it's true. He look around there for a little bit, I notice that the room is a little cold, but big, dam, run down buildings like this tend to be. So we go on, our next stop is much more fitting of such a place, the morgue. He go in there and it's got all the panels on the wall, all the drawers where they kept the corpses. Most are too rusted to work, but one can still slide. So my cousin pulls it out and dares me to lay on it for a second. It was just some corpse cot so I got on it and laid there for about ten seconds and got up and we closed it back up and left.

So we started to go up the stairs. This place has five floors, each comes with it's own tale. But as we go up I notice the numbers 5-02 all over the place. So I turn to my cousin "Hey what's up with the number 5-02." He tells me that on the top floor, the fifth floor(Duh), that one of the mental patients escaped and killed a nurse in the bathroom up there and that was room 5-02. So I tell him to take me there, since it's suppose to be the most haunted area on the property. So we go up there and I visit the infamous bathroom stall this nurse was supposedly killed in. Were there about five minutes, nothing.

So we get ready to leave the room and go back down stairs. Once were on the staircase, we hear a loud and sudden grind. This like loud thud. My cousin loses it and runs the whole way back to his truck out front. I'm a bit startled, but I decide to see what that noise was. I end up all the way back down at the first floor, and I go to the morgue. Once in there I see the table me and my cousin were playing with has creaked it's way back out of it's drawer. Not alot, maybe six inches, but you know enough to notice. I think maybe it's on springs so I look inside and see nothing there, no springs.

I look around again and look to the graffiti and think so kids are playing around here like us. I know the thing didn't come out on it's own, I had a hard time making this thing grind back inside the slot. So I push it back in and turn to join him, at this point I'm just tired and want to go home. At this time I have my back to the drawer, I'm standing in the only doorway in. I hear the thud again. I turn quick and I see the drawer is back out again and screamed "F#%* THIS PLACE!" I take off running and run out to his truck, run over the front in and jump into the flat bed in the back and tell him to just floor it. I know that sounds weird, but I went in there a sceptic and came out a full on hard core believer.

OK, as it would turn out, the reason I heard that message is because its the "If youd would like to make a call, please hang up and try again" message. We heard it first because the redial button doesnt work on the new phone and so we were jus waiting for a long time. The time this morning, my mom's employee had hung up and called someone else so by the time I got back to my phone it was playing the message. Still doesnt explain why the hell its so warped O_o

My gameboy got possessed while I was playing crystal version. All of the sudden all my pokemon turned red and their levels switched to 9 when they were in 50, I put them to battle with 80 levels and they beat them with one attack, it was creppy. My friend was with me and we decided to just play as many crosses and stuff as we could find in the house on top of the gameboy. Up to this day I haven't used it. That is one of the times, there was another time when I was in my room, I was at home with my little brother, I turned on the lights on my room and head to turn the t.v., when I look above the t.v. I see the shadow of a hanged person. I was creeped out, I took my bro and we ran to my dad's job (which was 2 blocks away).

Did you ever use a Gameshark Pro? I had used one of those on my Pokemon Red (I had a level 98 Venusaur, no Rare Candy) and it screwed up sending me to this strance area which was closed in and looked like a garden and I was invisible and couldn't move. It took me forever to figure out that it was because of my Gameshark Pro which, before I peeled the label off, had a warning stating COULD DAMAGE POKEMON GAMES or something like that. I was FURIOS, needless to say.

i have a great story to tell . ok so about 4 or 5 months ago my uncle, my grampa, and were coming home at night from a hunting trip in michigan ( we live near chicago ) and we're driving past resurrection cemetary and we see a woman in a white dress, at which point my grampa grabs his shotgun out of the back of the van because hes a real ghost buff and he knows the woman is resurrection mary . so i go for my gun too just as a precaution and then she disapered into thin air luckily my who while driving got a picture but it came out all blurry (like most ghost pics) . and thats my story.

Nothing much has happened to me. Well there was this one time...

Me and a friend were doing one of these city tour things; they drove us around in a Hearse to all the supposedly haunted spots around Des Moines. It wasn't too interesting, except in one house where there was a bunch of candles burning, and one of them started flickering. There wasn't a breeze, and none of the others which were right next to it were flickering. Then we went into another room, and some lady said something about a weird shadow. When we got back into the first room, the candle that was flickering was out. Kinda strange, but nothing to write home about.

My brother says there was a particularly nasty spirit in a grave yard near his old house, but he had an arrangement with it. Then again, he's kinda more sensitive to these things than most.

Stuff like that used to happen to me all the time when I was younger. Not so much anymore. I used to see all kinds of weird things. Like the ceilings would drip blood only I could see, or random hands would just pop up from the sides of my bed. I would close my eyes for about 5 seconds and they would be gone. I heard all different kinds of voices which would just call me by my first name. Now, I very rarely hear an out of place noise, and that's about it. One of my friends tried the whole bloody mary 5 times chant. He got to about 3 when his TV came on from it's own accord and was nothing but static. He never finished the chant or tried it again. One of my other friends heard a story from one of her friends. Her friend was having a sleepover. When they had to go to bed, they went to turn off the glitter lamp in her room. But it wouldn't turn off. Her friends' mom even verified that it was in the off position, but still on. Later they heard footsteps walking around in the hall. They called out to see if it was the mom, but got no reply. The footsteps stopped outside their door...which is the exact time the glitter lamp finally turned off.

And this is a link you may all find very interesting about ghost legends...if your computer has sound and can play videos.

That is scary as **** and I am going to have a hard time sleeping tonight. I am a hardcore believer in ghosts and that kind of stuff scares the crap outta me. I always get really into this stuff dispite being terrified of it. I've always kind of hopes a ghost would come and have sex with me like in Scary Movie 2 XD I know it sounds stupid, but wouldn't that be cool?

Yea it is! I really get into all the ghost and killer kind of stuff too. I have some books on it. Also one of the reasons I'm so hooked on scary movies and stuff. Did you check out the link? Now that is also scary as ****. It would definitely be interesting to have sex with a ghost. Would that even be possible? I suppose two ghosts could do it.

Wow, all of you have some pretty interesting accounts.

None of the stuff I've seen is TOO big but I guess I'll recap some of it anyway for fun.

Well, to start off, when I was a LOT younger, there were a few times I'd find myself waking up in the early morning hours to random voices calling my name.

Another time, I forget how old I was, but I woke up in the middle of the night to that humming noise of a firetruck/large truck coming from outside my room. Along with it was an eerie, yet faint orange/red glow in the hallway. It was a little brighter than the night light in the bathroom, so the light from it was shining through my doorway so I could see a bit of it on the wall. By this time I had turned my head away from the door, my head under the covers only peeking out. (the whole thing just REALLY creeped me out for some reason) To top it all of, moments later it seemed as if something was standing in my door, blocking most of the light and I just had that feeling like there was some kind of presence.

Other odd situations relate to this little path we found in the woods. There are tiny old cabins surrounding the path, and we've gone into the only accessible one quite a few times. The first time we really explored it, we all heard this loud animal-ish noise that sent us running. Another odd experience we had there was when my sister, a friend, and I were going to explore the other area of woods next to the path. When we got there, we realized getting into the area would be kind of difficult, so right before we were about to leave, my friend's cats ears perked up and a few seconds later we heard a quiet voice saying "Help me!". We were outtt of there right then.

Not too much else that I can think of... besides the little side room in the boiler room at this abandoned school. It wasn't really too scary, just odd how nothing was in the room besides a fire extinguisher, standing upright in the direct center of the room.

Gosh, I kinda wish I had experiences to talk about that were as good as all of yours. I'm really into the whole ghost thing, and I have been for a long time. Thinking about that abandoned school again makes me want to find a way in sooooo bad. >_<

Well, and this be a true tale o' high-seas a-hauntin's, I have one I think is rather good...

Ok, so about 4 years ago, me and my shipmates where going out on a fishing trip like we do every few weeks to make a living. The guy who usually is the 'captain' of our ship was sick so he didn't join us for this foray. Anyways, we pull out of St.John's harbour on schedual, but when we get about 2 hours out to sea, we notice somthing's wrong. We're not entirly sure where we are and, as per usual, our GPS system doesn't work (This really isn't a ghost-related thing; our GPS breaks every three weeks or so, right on schedual. But that's a different horror story :animesmil ) so we're not able to find out where we are.

We joked about it for a while, and decided to just go on with the fishing. Than we notice some bad winds start to pick up and dark clouds start rolling in - typical Atlantic storm. So we get our raincoats on and do what any decent seamen do, kept working through the storm. About an hour later, this storm is coming down like a wet, windy hell, but we've seen worse. Visability is basically zero. So all of a sudden, towards the bow, this loud fog horn moans - it sounds close but we can't be sure with this wind. So I drop what I'm doing and run to the bow of our proud ship, holding onto the railing tightly as it pitches around in the storm and such - and than all of a sudden, as the boat decends a rather large wave, I see this ship, right in front of us. It looked like a fishing trawler, much like ours. For a second I swear that I made eye contact with a man holding onto the railing of her. I knew we were going to hit her, so I covered my face with my arms and braced for impact. Than, just like that, a huge rouge wave swept over the bow and knocked me off my feet. I got to my feet and looked over the bow - she was gone.

Well, as I come back to maindeck of the trawler, one of my shipmates (The man acting as captain) runs out to meet me, looking rather aghast and pale. He saw it too. He was the only one though, as the rest of the crew thought that the storm had shaken somthing loose between the ears.

Anyways, just thought that was interesting.

Oh, and I'm pretty sure Queen is haunting me. Somtimes I just randomly start to hear a Queen song - faint and unidentifiable at first, but I slowly start to recognize it (Usually Bohemian Rhapsody or Killer Queen). Somtimes it happens at inopertune times - such as during a movie with friends or out at sea, often promting me to blurt out 'Do you guys hear Queen?' which can be rather embarassing. I'm sure Freddie Mercury is chuckling to himself up there every single time...
So in short, when we get phone calls with clicking on the end, they're usually followed no more than a week later by "have you considered the benefits of double-glazed burglar alarms?"

So that's what that's all about. I keep getting strange phone calls once a week and no one anwsers but the "click" noise and I figured that was what it was for.

I don't like believing in ghosts or any "paranormal" things for that matter. Infact, I'd rather pretend they don't exist if I hadn't seen what an "orb" is. I was walking down my hallway to the kitchen from my house when I squinted and saw a bright light ahead. I figured it was my lamp and kept walking closer when I noticed it was moving and stopped, it slowly floated towards me and then went faster and went through me. It felt like time stopped or as if I were moving in slow motion for only about 1 second but it felt like minutes. I turned around but I could not see anything behind me. That was when I was 12 and since then I have never spoken much about it, because even though I know what I saw, I refuse to believe in it.

There was also a moment where my chair was shaking profusedly when I was on the computer, and I thought it was an earthquake and got up. I noticed that nothing else had moved and asked my parents if they felt it but they said nothing happened. It was just very wierd.

Do I believe in ghosts? Maybe. But I'd rather leave them be. It's all too wierd for me. The dead should be left alone.
