Chapter 1
"The prophecized... four?"

"Sir!" yelled an eager soldier of King Tratus' legion. "Four villagers have now been chosen and rounded up in the room behind us. Would you like me to bring in Queen Esayal, Prince Jaspin and Princess Kulayla?"

The King stood up and worked out the wrinkles in his robe, than sat back down. "Yes, send them in."

The guard hollered something in a different language and a door to the King's right swung open. A women gracefully walked in. She had a flowing emerald cloak lined with white fur and a green robe covering the rest of her. She was very pretty and her skin was pale but attractive. Her hair was blonde and tied in a bun so she could wear her crown properly. Following behind her walked in a younger lady. She looked to be in her twenties and had majestically long blonde hair. Around her was a blue robe and on her forehead she wore a silver tiara encrested with sapphires. Not to far behind her was Prince Jaspin. He walked nobely along with a blue cape following behind. On his head, covering most of his short blonde hair was a silver crown, also encrested with saphires.

"Welcome friends!" said Tratus, standing up from his seat. He walked over and hugged them all once over and motioned for them to sit down at the large table to his left. He sat down there aswell.

"As you all know we have a problem. We are missing a prophecized warrior. Our priests only found four of the many who were summoned." he stated. The rest nodded and Queen Esayel spoke up.

"It is a problem we cannot worry about. With or without the fifth prophecized one, we have to send out what we have. I'm sure they will find the fifth eventually."

Outraged, Jaspin slammed his fist on the table. "How can you be so sure?! This is our whole world we are protecting!" His sister, Kulayla, grasped his arm and calmed him.

"You are too much like our father, Jaspin. There is nothing else we can do. We have to set the four out on their journey." she said.

"So it is settled than." Tratus explained. "We send out what we have."

About a day later, men and women from around Dae'mora gathered around the palace in Treada City awaiting to see the five Crystal Warriors. From a balcony up high, the four leaders of Dae'mora stepped out. First, King Tratus stepped forward and haulted the applause and cheering with a wave of his arm. He spoke loudly to all that could hear.

"Firstly, we have a Minstrel from a small village located in the most northern parts of Treada. Please welcome, Naminé Valentine!" he shouted.

Everyone broke out in applause and watched as a girl with whitish-bluish hair walked out of the castle doors. Tratus stepped down and Queen Esayel stepped into where Tratus was before.

"Next we have a Knight all the way from the wilderness of Valera, please make way for Yavela Dubrin, formerly Yavella Maekros!"

Once again, every cheered and anxiously watched another girl with short brown hair walked out and stopped beside the Minstrel. Queen Esayel walked back beside Tratus and watched as Prince Jaspen took her place.

"Now. We have a Priest raised in Piot Monsetary itself, Andro Piot!" he started claping and the audience did the same when a pale, blonde boy trudged out and stood beside Yavella. Prince Jaspen turned around and let his twin sister step forward.

"And finally, folks. Last but certianly not least, an Archer from west Haydeseu... Rain Avella!"

The audience roared and clapped as the final person, a girl, stepped out beside the other warriors. King Tratus once again stepped forward.

"We have one final announcement before we let our Warriors go." he shouted. Whispers and murmers of the confused crowd could be heard. "The priests of all 3 nations could not find a fifth Crystal Warrior. So, for now, we only have four."

Everyone seemed so confused, some understood, others were frustrated. Regardless, the band played and everyone watched their heroes walk down the path and out of the city. When the warriors were out of sight, they all looked at eachother and sat down, pooped.

Andro felt nervous as he stood on the platform above the multitudes. Never had he been so important to so many people, and never had he stood before so many cheering, expectant citizens. A knot of worry rose in his chest, but quickly subsided once his name was announced. However, it did not wash away completely ? in the back of his mind, the wonder of the fifth Warrior persisted in twisting his mind away from the moment. He inhaled a breath to calm himself, and felt an instant of tranquility play over his soul as he exhaled. Silent bliss expressed itself across his countenance as the four began walking down the path.

?Hello, I?m Andro Piot. I?m pleased to meet you three ? may I be so blessed as to receive your names?? He turned his head to the trio, addressing them all in his gentle tone. His greeting was received with mixed emotions, as their faces betrayed. Skepticism of his intentions, a good first impression, or vague interest, were what he could gather from the instant of emotion the three warriors showed. In turn, they all introduced themselves politely, perhaps far too formally for the occasion, and a fair deal of small talk and pleasantries were exchanged before the conversation died down at the mouth of the Vedalia Forest.

?Do we know how to make it out of this forest? Perhaps a directional to lead us to the nearest town for provisions??

?A very good question? I have no idea,? Andro replied. They eyed one another, hoping a solution would appear. They lacked the time and means to turn back for such information, and they were dispatched ill-equipped due to the gravity and importance of the situation.

Ray was used to attention. Back in the Capital City of Haydeseu as a hunter, she'd gotten the publicity and gold and the other stuff that came with the peoples' attention. It had never bothered her then. But now, in front of practically the whole kingdom, her knees felt weak ad she couldn't even wave to the crowd below like the three warriors before her had. She just meakly hobbled over beside the young man that had been introduced before her.

Ray watched in silence as the king finished his announcements. She never was one to pay close attention, but when she heard they were missing a warrior she was puzzled. Why hadn't they told her before? This was her first time meeting with the other three, and she wondered if she was the only one not let in on the full story. But their confused faces rid her of the thought.

Then, the four of them were hurried down the stairs and out into the courtyard to walk down the path and out of the city, the crowd's noise and the band's music filling their ears.

It took almost half an hour to get out of the sight of the city, and Ray was tired. She hated walking. Riding was much better. She was a bit embarrassed that she was the only one that seemed to want a break, so she stayed quiet. Suddenly, the only young man in the party spoke up.

"Hello, I?m Andro Piot. I?m pleased to meet you three ? may I be so blessed as to receive your names?" he asked.

Ray raised an eyebrow, somewhat skeptic of the man's behavior. He sounded quite like a gentleman, but she'd heard it before. And very rarely did their motives turn out pure. But she gave him the benefit of the doubt, being one of the five -- or four, as it had turned out -- warriors of prophecy, and awarded his question an answer.

"My name is Rain Avella, as you heard, but I prefer Ray. Besides, the last person to call me Rain is dead now, anyway." She glanced around with a curious look at the shocked stares from the rest of the company before realizing how what she'd said sounded. "Oh no, I didn't killed him! I'm just saying that I don't really go by the name much anymore.." She mentally punched herself, feeling her face warm up as she blushed at the stupidity of her first impression on the others.

The other two young women answered his question as well, and sounded much more dignified and mature than Ray had. Sulking, she fell behind the others, bringing up the rear. There was another long stretch of walking, where the three in front of her talked amongst themselves and a good deal of pleasant laughter was shared, before she felt herself bump into one of the other girls of the company.

"Oh! Sorry.. Wasn't paying attention," she sighed. It turned out Ray had run into Naminé. The way she responded was very polite, making Ray feel even more awkward. She didn't fit in with the others, and she was being strangely quiet and shy, when normally she's the loudest and most friendly in a group of people. "Maybe it's this whole.. weight of the world on my shoulders thing. I hate pressure," Ray thought to herself, grunting quietly. Then she realized that the four of them had come to a halt, and wondered why they'd stopped.

Looking up, she saw the large trees that shadowed the path into the Vedalia Forest. Yavella spoke first. ?Do we know how to make it out of this forest? Perhaps a directional to lead us to the nearest town for provisions??

?A very good question? I have no idea,? came the reply from Andro. The warriors were quiet, but only three were thinking about what to do. Ray, on the other hand, saw no problem with walking straight in. It took the others a moment to realize that she had disappeared from behind them and was already on the path inside the forest.

"Where are you going?" came the expected shout from Naminé.

"Into the forest," Ray called back.

"But.. we don't have a plan! Or food, or water, or a map, or.. or anything! We don't even know how big the forest is," Yavella yelled after her, but Ray wasn't planning on stalling anymore. As stupid as she knew she must have seemed just charging in with no idea of what she was doing, her gut instinct was telling her it was the best thing to do, and her gut hadn't let her down yet.

"The others can plan," she thought, "and it will be my job to start moving." Pulling her bow off her shoulder and gripping it tight in her hand, she continued down the path, slowly starting to feel more excited about the new adventure than she had all day.

OOC: To the rest of you, I hope you don't mind the way I had my sulky character interact with the rest of yours. But if anyone has an issue with sending her straight into the forest, PM me or tell me in the Underground, and I'll edit it. And I have no problem with you dragging her back out, either, lol.
