Hey out there.
Awhile ago, I got the box set edtion of Zeta Gundam, a series I have been wanting to see for a long time. I just finished it, and I can see why it is hailed as one of the best Gundam series ever done.
Zeta Gundam is the sequel to the original Gundam series. (0083 works as Zeta's prequel.) In Zeta, it takes place a few years after the one-year war, and the Earth Federation has a speical military police force called the Titans. The Titans are are bullies, and coruppt, doing what they see fit to hunt Zeon sympthisers, and rebels. To demeonstrate their power, the Titans nerve gassed an entire colony, killing it's inhabidance. This lead to the creation of the AEUG (Anti Earth Union Group). They are a force of former Federation troops who are fighting against the Titian's tyranny.
The story revolves around a young Newtype named Kamille Bidan. Kamille has a bad temper because of his femine name, and picks a fight with a Titans pilot because of it.
At that moment, the AEUG snuck into Kamille's colony to steal three prototype Gundam Mark II mobile suits from a Titan's base. Kamille gets caught up in it, and joins them as their newest pilot.
The show is pretty dark, I got to say. I wasn't really exspecting that, but it makes the show better than I thought.
Have you seen it? What do you think?

Zeta is definitely one of the best Gundam series with a good balance of action, character development and plot. The animation may look aged but the story is far better than many newer series. Zeta Gundam has a highly likeable cast of characters. They are the stars of the story. The plot is fast moving with little stock footages and flashback scenes. The action is possibly the best in all Gundams with interesting mechas design and innovating technologies. Zeta may not be as dark as Victory or as delicate as Turn A; but, it stands on its own as a masterpiece. There is no line between good or evil as they are the same in Zeta Gundam.

Being a fan of Zeta for almost 20 years, I highly recommand it to anyone who enjoy good human drama and great character developments. I am kind of disappointed that the opening songs are cut from the DVD release.

I also highly recommand to all Zeta fans the three new movies of the series. I am very impressed by the first movie. It is well written and well made.

Yes, I agree. Zeta is one of the better series *kills Gundam X ninja style.* It was one of the biggest series I wanted to watch, other than SEED. Unfortunately I stopped on about Disc six or so. I'd gotten the rest of the RahXephon series and finished up SEED as well so I kind of lost motivation to sit down and watch the series. Now with school and work I've hardly had any time to sit down and watch some anime. Heck, my EVA series is going unwatched too T_T

However, I really am wanting to watch V-Gundam when it comes out. Like Qukey said, its one of the darker series. However it also is done in the sense that the pilots are still just kids and are trying to stay alive at all costs. Its David vs Goliath conflict style is nostalgic of Z gundam. I mean come on the Gryps War was one of the best portrayed events in the UC timeline. Mass murder, people willing to do anything just to get ahead. It was all done in the series. Granted the sequel to Z was more light hearted it still was a great series too.

I thought that Yoshiyuki Tomino did a great job. Though it seems like he put 100% of his emotions into the script, characters, and mindset of the whole series. It seemed very angry and violent. Sooo many violent deaths and heartbreak. So yes, its a definete must see if you're going to get into the UC timeline. Now all we really need is Victory Gundam and ZZ Gundam to comeplete the entire UC timeline. We have all the others readily availible to us. Personally I hope when V comes out it'll have a soundtrack with it. I mean the series had orchestral scores that were very good and considering it got a FULL YEAR of air time in Japan must say something about it.

ZZ is famous for is lighter tone in the first half of the story. There are quite a bit of comedies in the show, with the Zeta-Zaku being the most famous. The second part of the story becomes much darker but it is still far from the atomspheres in zeta and Victory. Anyway, ZZ has a great story on its own and it is too underrated IMO.
