A new anime that has been recently revealed to the public. The anime started to air in Japan about a month ago. I am still not quiet sure on how to spell it, it might me Tenjo Tenge or Tengo Tenge. Anyways when I witnessed this anime it was...amazing, unreal. Consists of action, and comedy. This anime is kick a**. Check it out if ya can. And if you know what I am talking about, write up about this anime in here.

I started watching this anime back in April so it's been around for longer than a month (I believe it started to air sometime towards the end of March). I'm up to about ep 13 and so far this is an enjoyable anime but not the best I've seen (as of now). Regardless, the show has started to pick up some steam off late with the memories arch giving some good background on some of the main characters of the anime. The Ryussegan (sp?), as you will learn if you watch the show, is one psyco technique. TenTen loosely reminds me of Real Bout High School but it is a bit more "hardcore" in my opinion (more violence, fanservice, and such). This is definetely something to check out if you're into the fighting genre of anime. TenTen gets a little serious at times but it's also mixed with a bit of comedy to keep viewers entertained (as I said there is some fanservice ;) ) Geneon picked up the rights to this a while back so DVDs will probably be out next year or sometime in the near future. Overall, TenTen is showing a lot of promise to be a good series and hopefully it'll live up to this expectation.

tenjou tenge was definately an addicting one for my roomate and i. we watched the first six episodes back to back, and were like okay this is really good. she went home and returned with 7-24. my saturday night was from 800pm till 200 am, with no break, finishing the series.
unexplicably we both really enjoyed the series but at the end still ended up saying, wait, what was the point again? the plot is fun but is rather confusing. they start you in the present for the first six episodes. episodes seven through like 20 all take place in the past. they have to make sence of what is going on now, by showing you what happened in the past, the past being two years ago. however in their revisitng of the past the
elder takayanagi is different so when you return to the present you say to yourself, this guy isnt to blame... so why is he NOW the bad guy?
however this aside we both really liked it. fun animation style and plot, interesting charater interactions, and yes plenty of fan service. it's only let down is a rushed ending like that of NGE, its not an absolutely horrid ending, you will survive, but you wish there were more. hmm must be time for a fan fic fixing the end =^_^=

I was watching this series a couple months back when [a-s] was doing subs for it, i got up to episode 21 and then it seemed like [a-s] vanished into thin air. I had pretty much forgotten about this series up until now, has the series been licensed? I'd really like to see the last 3 episodes.

I've seen 26 episodes including the OVA's and I must say this show is such a huge disappointment. This show was so promising until the big plot holes starting showing one after another. The only good episode in this shounen fighter is the first one. After that, the animation got lazy and started using Samurai Deeper Kyo's style aka stills with streaking flluid.

Most of the characters including the main ones felt extremely empty. This also ties to the plot holes because you have characters who have an illusion to play a role but in the end they just turned up razor-thin.

This show is so horrible I would place it right next to Ninja Resurrection.

Highly recommended for torture. :animeangr

EDIT: I suggest you read the manga instead.

I must say that the anime was great but it seems to have no great reason to watch. I have seen all 26 episodes and thought that the manga was a bit better then the anime. Even though it was also funny in many parts, it was still something I would have never watch if I was bored.

I know this might be a little off-topic to say...but I am glad I am back to this forum. I lost the link here a long time ago and I am glad to be back. :D I hope I can have a great time just like I did when I posted here last time in April. :animeshy:

This had to have been one of the worst animes I ever saw. The amount of fanservice was unbearable and all the "good" fight scenes were broken up by bad attempts at humour. You need to look no further than the last episode of the series to see what i'm talking about...

I'm tempted to read the manga though, as i've heard that it is more coherent than the anime and the flashback arc doesn't seem as drawn out and mindless as it was portrayed in the anime...

I was watching Tenjou Tenge Ultimate Fight (the sequel to the series being released in an OVA format) in hopes that it would bring closure to the series but two episodes in i'm really just expecting more of the same garbage I saw in the first series.

Well... There was a good fight or two in the OVA, and the original series did have some decent fight scenes as well but truthfully the series went from good to bad to worse, and i'm just crossing my fingers in hopes that the OVA doesn't do the same.

Upon going off to Vacation, I found this really cool anime. Tenjou Tenge is a shonin anime with a mix of love...and I guess hentai... :animeswea Yes I'm pretty sure perverts would like this one... Anyway, I've only seen 24 episodes, and I think that's how long it is anyway, but I'm glad it was good without being too long. :animesmil

The series is about Nagi Souichiro, and his friend, transferring to Todou Academy looking for a few fights. There, they meet Takayanagi and Maya, two very powerful fighters. Maya and Souichiro get into a fight, and Maya accidentally sends Souichiro flying into the Womens Showers. Inside the showers, Souichiro wakes up from being unconsious, and meets Natsume Aya, Maya's little sister. And lets let the romance begin. :animesmil Souichiro is one to turn away from Aya's love, though we sorta get the point that he sorta likes her back. The whole series is mainly about Fighting, Love, A little bit of comedy, and such. This is definitely one of meh faves. :animesmil

I thought it was funny that Takayanagi was
rejected by Aya, and she married Souichiro,
whom didnt even like her. :animesmil Souichiro-sama is definitely my fave character. Issat bad though? Cuz I really loved it when Takayanagi wailed out on him in the second episode..oy...

Woah o_O

I don't think I have ever seen an anime get such a harsh review, espically one based of a rather good manga.

Well I was origionally going to ask and see if it would have been a good idea to watch this anime. I just began to read into the manga just at around 3:20 am yesterday and I though it was rather good, aside from the rather...explict parts that there are in it. I am begining to wonder just why this couldn't be in the same catergory as hentai.

So yeah, after seeing so many bad reviews I am just probably just see a couple of the first episodes and see how it is. I think the manga should suffice me long enough.

Still just wow :animestun

I know, right?

I read the first couple chapters of it, and thought the manga was great, but heard the manga was bad from a lot of places, and some liking it.

When (ever >.>) I watch it, I'm gonna try not to have the "highest" of expectations, but I'll try to be hopeful. But should I even try? :animedepr

Tenjho Tenge right now is my favourite anime to watch! I think the storyline is intriguing in terms of plot depth. I've seen the main 24 episodes only but i am yet to view episodes 25 & 26, the OVAs.

I think its a great anime but one thing i "disliked" was that around 10 or more episodes contained flash-backs, if not the whole episode was a flashback. I didn't really like the ending of the 24th episode so I hope the 2 OVAs clear everything up!

I've seen the first 24 episodes in Japanese with English subtitles and the first episode in English, they are very similar but personally i enjoy the English version more, but that's just me.

Tenjho Tenge is certainly one of the BEST anime series' I have watched!

I think I should get the Manga to read...

Yeah thats what I head that had killed the series. Although they did the exact same thing in the manga. The anime just stopped and left thes eries high and dry up in the air, while the manga countinued (and from where I am at it did so in a rather fabalous way).

Although this and after viewing the first couple of episodes I say that I am actually rather comfortable with saying on with the manga, If only they had kept the anime exactly the same as from the manga... :animenose

I just finished watching episodes 25 & 26 of Tenjho Tenge and also the "movie" Tenjho Tenge: The Lost Chapters. I'm sad to say that the ending was a dissapointment. It really did not finish the series and left me hanging "on the edge" of what was going to happen next. I really hope that there will be a second series because I do not feel that they did a good job for the ending.

Other than that, it was a GREAT series! I really LOVED all the fighting scenes and I found that the animation was of great quality! Again, I so sorely hope there is a second series! I honestly would be heartbroken (to an extent) if ther wasn't! :animecry:

Peace! :animesmil

Tenjho Tenge anime is pretty good but the manga is a lot better than the anime. It remains the same for the first couple of volumes and episodes but they branch off. Which sucks for the anime since if it truly followed the manga it would be greatness. My gripe is a lot of the mature content was taken out. Yes I know it has over the top fan service but beleive it or not it was a lot more explicit then it is now. It's a shame it couldn't be released in it's full glory. The anime ending sucked even with the OVAs. This is one of those instances where you have to read the manga to fully enjoy the series.

My God the end of this series was a disgrace it brought back bad memories of Getbackers. Id spoil it with markup but there's nothing to spoil. The final battle never happens. No characters reach their potentials and it completely strayed from the manga.

What a horrible way to end a series. The OVAs don't even help.A series that started with so much promise had to crumble into crap.

At least the Get Backers was awesome while it lasted. The ending was not good I agree.

Tenjo Tenge is a big let down. I watched it the whole afternoon and had high hopes when I saw the first few episodes but almost got so impatient when 2/3 of the series showed stuff about the past. It was fine.. but giving an ending like that was just... awful.

When I heard about the OVA, I'm kinda hoping it will make up for the disappointment but after reading the reviews here, I'm really losing what's left of the little excitement I have for this series. lol

Oi! I've never seen this show, but the hype has me a little interested. In any event, I thought it would be important to note that this show is going to be airing on Fuse (yes, the music channel that plays all those damn horror movies) starting June 8th at 12:30. Set your Tivo to record!

I watched the anime and was thoroughly disappointed. It just stops. I don't know where to get the manga nor can I afford it at the moment. I have been searching for the chapters online though but to no avail.

ah OVAs... for a moment i think im saved from a terrible ending in tenjou tenge, and then *wham* i keep reading and my hopes are shattered. to be fair i would have to watch the whole series again, just so i could be madder when it ended terribly, however it might be worth it i think. all i know is i was so disappointed about the "ending" i started to write a fan fic... which i found years later and couldnt remember what was going on so i couldnt finish it./sigh

p.s. all i know is ive seen worse, in fact i refused to watch much of one called "haunted junction" dont ask what its about, i blocked it from memory.

i loved tenjou tenge. there were some very funny scenes in there, especially the abundant fanservice. my guy friends could barely even talk to me while we were watching it, LOL!

most people i know don't like the sudden change in story about halfway through. i liked it, especially considering there was much more bunshichi. :D
