I know the OB will undergo changes sometime in the future, so I guess this is a request. When you send someone a PM, that little request for a receipt is really irritating. I want to know why that's there in the first place, and can it be removed when the revamp happens?[/size]

[color=#4B0082]Looking through the options, I can't find anything about this. So I think you're stuck with the pop-up, unless we upgrade to a newer version of vB and an option for it has been added.

Besides, is it really that hard to click yes or no? Or just tap the Enter key? It takes maybe a second's time, and I, at least, find the message tracking to come in handy at times. Usually in regards to checking whether or not someone has read a warning sent to them. So if it were to come down to having a pop-up or having message tracking, the pop-up would stay.[/color]

[font=trebuchet ms][color=33333]Personally, I would really like the pop-up to change so that "okay" is not the default choice for message tracking. I find the pop-up at the other end ("The person who randomly IMd you requested a read receipt! Confirm?") to be far more annoying.

I would be really happy if the choices read:

Having "Cancel" being the no-thanks choice right now is a Bad Thing because it looks like you're canceling the entire PM... thus encouraging more people to request read receipts that they don't really care about.[/color][/font]

[size=1]Why not just have it automatically track messages, and send read receipts? That way, people don't get the popup, they don't need to worry about it, and they can't shirk Des' wrath by saying "Oh sir, I never read it [please don't kick me]"

Personally I don't use the Private Message system all that much, unless I'm sending out draft RPGs or more recently as a Legionnaire Team Leader sending out PMs related to the mission. 95% of the PM I send out don't have read receipts, and while it is a little tedious to have to click "No", I'm not really that bothered by it, as Des said it takes less than a second to do. Lore's idea is my personal favourite of what's been described so far as I think a lot of people are mistaking the "Cancel" for cancelling the message.[/SIZE]

[font=Arial][size=2]My problem is that once I've gotten to that stage, I look over the PM while considering if I want a read-receipt, and then I find something to change, so I try to get out of it, but hitting the little x just says no to the receipt...so it sends anyway. [/size][/font]

As mentioned though, it would appear that this isn't do-able yet. Maybe in a future version though. Seriously though, in previous versions of Virtual Bulletin it used to do exactly as Baron described; automatic tracking with no pop-ups. And I always found that to be great, so I wouldn't mind going back to that at all. Problem is, I can't find [i]anything[/i] related to message tracking in the admin options. There are some options for what's allowed about PMs themselves, but not a one for the tracking of PMs. So at this point, nothing can be done about the pop-ups.[/color]

Either way, it was very unintrusive.

People commonly complain about this nuissance and I know that a hack was released on vbulletin.org a some point that allows you to disable the pop-up.
