Video game songs

I've heard so many good things about I Am that I just have to hear it.

As for me, I'd definetally pick Live and Learn: Sonic Adventure 2 Battle. This song, with it's 80's metal style, is simply amazing. The guitars are great, the vocals are great, and the lyrics are great. Its just... great! The lyrics have also helped me before...

That's all I can think of for now, since that song blows almost everything else out of the water.

For pure nostalgic/retro value, you can't beat Megaman music. There's this awesome band called Electro Quarterstaff that made a metal cover of one of those songs, called "Dr. Wily". It's epic.

Tetris music also rocks. It's all ding dee dee ding dee dee ding, dee dee ding dee dee ding, dee dee ding ding ding ding... You know how it goes.

For beautiful instrumentality, I love the music in Shadow of the Colossus. Usually the music will come in/change at three different times. When you're facing a Colossus but you haven't gotten onto it yet, the music is quieter, less intense, a bit more cagey. Once you get on the Colossus, the music suddenly gets faster, more intense, usually with soaring violin lines and such. Then, once you defeat the Colossus and the death cutscene plays, it turns to the most mournful lament you could ever hope to hear. Very moving game, and the music helps that.

Another game that I thought had excellent music, from what I heard of it, was Advent Rising. Epic music, epic storyline, epic aliens, epic graphics, but, sadly, less that epic gameplay.

A band that I really like is DragonForce, and if you hear their songs, then you'll see why I mentioned them in a thread about video game songs.

I really love the Kingdom Hearts soundtrack. <3. It's just absolutely beautiful.

HOLY CRAP. Last night, at this Battle of the Bands thing I went to, one of the bands played the Legend of Zelda theme song!! I started eating my sweater (I had all ready eaten it when they were playing Wish You Were Here, which made me think of Rasputina) and jumped around in my seat, shrieking. It was amazing. <333

The best videogame music would come from a small series we call "Metal Gear Solid". Always gets the adrenaline pumping, especially that track which kicks in everytime you're discovered. And I remember how I used to deliberately kill Snake just to hear that clip that plays everytime he dies. Muhahaha!

Lol. Two days ago I was just sitting around at college and my friend started randomly doing this. Needless to say, we ended up going in to a little duet. I even started bringing in bits from Mario 64, and bobbing up and down slightly in sync with pitch changes. :animeswea

But yes, I've already mentioned my love for MGS2 and 3 (theme) music in this thread.

Good stuff..

Gotta love Final Fantasy music. The songs form FFX are awesome, namely that one from the kiss scene, and also, of course, Otherworld. I mean, Otherworld is a metal song in a Final Fantasy game, how awesome is that??? The short version in the final boss fight sucks though...

FFX and FFI both have amazing battle music. FUNNY STORY: At my last school (which I only attended for 2 weeks) for some reason, every morning whenever I looked at my bus' door, the FFI battle music would start playing in my head!

Well, there are some of the classics like Mario and Zelda that I know won't leave my memory for a while. As for slightly newer games, I really enjoyed Final Fantasy IX/X's soundtracks. They sounded very pretty.

This game hasn't debuted in the U.S. yet, but I love the theme for it: Drakengard 2's Hitori, by Mika Nakashima. It's a really pretty song (like the rest of her works ^^) and it really seemed to fit well with the mood of the trailer. Although I hope the actual battle music for the game is better than the original. It made me want to shove a spoon in my ear >_O

I like certain songs from the FFX-2 as well. The Farplane Glen and the Zanarkand Ruins are two of my favorites. Square-Enix had a good taste for their game soundtracks.

I also like some of the music from the Dead or Alive series. The techno remixes of Kasumi and Ayane's themes are great.
