Renate
This thread will be dedicated to anime and movie soundtracks. ^^ So why do you like soundtracks? What anime and movie soundtracks do you like? And which are the best musical pieces in them? I like the soundtracks of movies and anime I've seen, because there's always a story behind them. It's rare for me to like a soundtrack of a movie or anime I haven't seen. It also gives me inspiration to write or draw very often. My favourite soundtracks are:

Lord of the Rings by Howard Shore - Concerning Hobbits, Many Meetings, the Council of Elrond, The Ring goes South, the Breaking of the Fellowship, the Riders of Rohan, Evenstar, Breath of Life.
Cider House Rules by Rachel Portman- Main Title, Homer leaves Orphanage, the Ocean, Homer returns to the Orphanage, End Credits.
Alexander by Vangelis - Titans, Roxane's Veil, Across the Mountains, Eternal Alexander, Tender Memories.
American Beauty by Thomas Newman - Dead Already, American Beauty, Angela Undress, Any other Name, Still Dead.
A Beautiful Mind by James Horner - A Kaleidoscope of Mathematics, First Drop off First Kiss, Of one Heart of One Mind, All Love Can Be, Closing Credits.
The Chronicles of Narnia: the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by Harry Gregson-Williams - Evacuating London, the Wardrobe, From Western Woods to Beaversdam, To Aslan's Camp, the Battle, Only the Beginning of the Adventure, Can't take it in, Wunderkind.
House of Flying Daggers - Beauty Song, Lovers - Flower Garden, No Way Out, Lovers, Lovers (Mei and Jin), Lovers (Title Song).
Titanic by James Horner - Rose, Leaving Port, Unable to Stay Unwilling to Leave, An Ocean of Memories, My Heart Will go on, Hymn to the Sea.
The Last Samurai by Hans Zimmer - Every single piece
Cold Mountain by Various Artists - The Scarlet Tide, You will be my Ain True Love, Never Far Away, I'm going home, Idumea.
Kill Bill vol. 1 by Various Artists - Bang Bang, Queen of the Crime Council, Ode to Oren Ishii, Battle without Honor or Humanity, Don't Let me be Misunderstood, Woo Hoo,The Flower of Carnage.
Tsubasa Chronicle - Break the Sword of Justice, You are My Love, Hear our Prayer.
Albert Flasher
The soundtrack to The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou is without a little bit of doubt the best soundtrack of all time. The David Bowie songs, many sung in Portuges by Seu Jorge, are fantastically appropriate, Mark Motherbrough's classical compositions are incredible, and the soundtrack itself is just executed so well...
Rhym
The soundtrack to Fight Club is amazing. It's done entirely by the Dust Brothers. There isn't a single track on there that I don't like, I would check it out. The Animatrix soundtrack is another good one, but there are a few on there that I skip over, unlike the Fight Club soundtrack. Oh yeah, and the Team America: World Police soundtrack kicks ***!
Amorphous
The first soundtrack that should be instantly named for any movie ever is as such;

Pink Floyd - The Wall; No, seriously what is there to say about this soundtrack? It's nothing short of amazing. We should all know the story and really it is considerably the best soundtrack alive.
Air - The Virgin Suicides (An Original Motion Picture Score); Very well composed, similar to a style of Pink Floyd in some context but more electronic. It has a very mellow feel to it.
Other then that I've never been partial to sound tracks because most of them are horrible and I am not partial to compliation albums like that or usually anything like that because it is never worth buying. I will usually only buy an album if it is all done by the same artist because then at least I have an idea of how decent it will be. I have been meaning to check out the Fight Club one. mystic-chick
My favourite soundtrack has to for the Queen of the Damned. It has some of the best artists on it. The funniest but no less good has to be for theHi Hi Puffy AmiYumi show. Also the most the most recent one I got was the soundtrack to the musical episode of Buffy-Once More With Feeling- totally corny but somehow good. Well that`s all I have to say so I`ll say good day! :p

Lindus
I've loved movie soundtracks since I was little. I don't buy cd's too often, but I can say that the majority of them is probably made up of soundtracks. This one isn't a soundtrack exactly, but it plays various tracks from movies done by one composer. And that's Yo-Yo Ma Plays Ennio Morricone. I love a lot of the movies that Morricone's been involved with (the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, The Untouchables, Once Upon A Time In America, etc...), and Yo-Yo Ma's participation really makes the music even better. I thought Braveheart and From Russia With Love had some nice soundtracks too. I liked how the Braveheart soundtrack included some bits of memorable dialogue along with the songs. Dances With Wolves was another good soundtrack. I think John Barry does a nice job with non- James Bond movies (though I like those too XD)
2010DigitalBoy
Movie Soundtracks - Kill Bill, Undeniably, in my opinion, the best ever. From the cheesy Kung-Fu junk to the epic chimes to the haunting whistle of Ellie Driver, this album kicks ***. Godzilla, because as a kid, I loved this. Anime Soundtracks - Haven't heard many, but the Rurouni Kenshin ones are all sweet. Especially the Best Theme Collection as it comes with the two 8:30 minute Japanese metal songs. Video Game Soundtracks - While RPGs have great soundtracks, my hat is off to Sonic Adventure 2 for having an all-out awesome album. The main theme, Live and Learn, being a personal favorite song.
Squall
I highly reccomend The Hellsing:Raid Soundtrack, and its sequel, Hellsing:Ruins Composed of a kind of gothic jazz, if you will, these two albums are very unique and talented. Though some may argue that the tracks are basically composed of random sounds, I strongly disagree. Songs like Bodhisvatta of Cathedral and Hatred Guy of Sinfullness are absolutely beautiful, in a painfully dark sort of way. If you have the option, I highly reccomend purchasing the actual albums over downloading the tracks. They're in horrible "engrish" so you can't understand a single word, but I believe the albums come with lyrics. Lyrics, that are practically nonexistant on the internet. hey_love
For some reason, I can never stop listening to Tarzan, the soundtrack. I used to LOVE singing it while I was listening to it, and it'd make me go to sleep so much faster. I think I just really like Phil Collins' voice and everything. Another soundtrack I constantly listen to is the recent 2004 two disc special of Phantom of the Opera, one of my most favorite books and musicals. Amazing. The songs come straight off of the movie, and I've watched the movie countless times, so it gets me so excited whenever I listen to it. :animesmil

I love PotO, but the new soundtrack had so many voice tracks, it had me running for the original cast recording. It wasn't bad, but I really wish they could have at least made the cd easier to navigate through by separating the music and the dialogue from each other. But I guess aside from that, it was pretty good. *goes and worships Raoul* XD
SaiyanPrincessX
I love soundtracks. I listen to soundtracks more than I listen to any bands or whatnot. I don't really care for the soundtracks that have more bands on it than original music. I get alot of inpiration from them for drawing, or graphics. From movies, games, or anime, it really makes no diffrence to me. I can't choose a favorite really, they all have something diffrent. I currently have the following:

The Fifth Element
The Last Samurai
The Marix
The Matrix Reloaded
The Matrix Revolutions
The Amnimatrix
Underworld
The Passion of the Christ
Cowboy Bebop(all I believe)
Samurai X OVA
Neon Genesis Evangelion
Naruto OST 1
Naruto OST 2
The Mummy
The Mummy Returns
Armitage: Dual Matrix
I also have random video game music aswell.
