Guest Medievaldragon
There will be a public chat with veteran Star Trek book writer Aaron Rosenberg on Saturday, February 18 at 4pm EST to discuss his current project STARCRAFT: QUEEN OF BLADES pocket book. A plot summary and front cover image are available here The book novel plot is from Jim Raynor's point of view, and it details the events that occur on planet Char, specifically the interactions between Raynor, Kerrigan, Tassadar, and Zeratul. However, look forward to reading what happened in the meeting between Tassadar and Zeratul. It seems Blizzard is expanding and building up the Starcraft lore. Do you think Starcraft 2 is in the horizon?
Endymion
I would hope so. The Warcraft universe is all well and good, but I felt that Warcraft 3 shortchanged the series. Starcraft I felt was better, storyline-wise. I think Blizzard's got the Sony mentality or something. Let's milk something for everything it's possibly worth. 5,000 expansions to everquest, tons of books, etc. I loved Blizzard when it was but a small company, giving us the best RTS games around. Thinking now actually...i don't know if I want a Starcraft 2 from them. Even after delaying WC 3 a few years, the final product needed 5 billion patches(each one made the game progressivly worse anyway, messing around with gameplay, though at least some bugs were addressed.). Starcraft when it came out, was near perfect. Having my friends come over for a SC LAN party rocks. Long live the Queen... Time to go pre-order that book...
Guest Medievaldragon
Yea as a small team even though they took a lengthy time to release games, at least they were always producing a game and releasing it. Now they are so big, and yet SC: Ghost has been delayed 3 years. It was meant to come out by 2003. And now they are milking World of Warcraft worldwide, and lacking back on Starcraft. However, I heard they will announce the new project on E3 2006. Not sure if it will come to happen, seeing as they delay the game whenever a problem shows up. Back on 2003, when almost half the Blizzard North staff resigned, they were working on two games. One was canned and its staff was moved to the second game. After Blizzard North shut down and personel were relocated to Irvine, it seems they are now ready to resume the canned game -- I mean, last weeks job openings seem like a aim to fill up the positions vacant back in 2003 -- which could mean they are working once more on the canned game. Something I find interesting was when they hired Dustin Browder, from Red Alert, Mechwarrior and Middle-Earth RTS back on March 15, 2005. Why hire a RTS veteran? =] Ever since he got hired I have thought of three possible things that could happen: Starcraft 2 RTS, Diablo RTS or new RTS franchise. Working on Warcraft 4 doesn't sound likely with the success of World of Warcraft. I hope it was Starcraft 2 however, but a Diablo RTS would rock battling to defend Heaven. I checked on Blizard patents and I don't see new games listed there besides Burning Legion and Starcraft: Ghost. However, there is a old patent from 2002. It made me curious because the exodus of staff that resigned was on July 2003 ... The patent is under the name Diablo II: Salvation. Heaven epic war anyone?
