Thread Killer!

You may be wondering why I picked such an interesting subject line. Well, you see, I must be a convicted thread killer. It seems like whenever I post in a thread that I think is interesting, it dies after I do so. Very rarely does it happen that it moves on after me, but I must be a bad omen or something on OB! :animedepr

The same applies to threads started by me, thus, I'm hoping that I'm not the only one who feels like they kill threads. So, to make this more discussion-worthy, be sure to tell us the last time you "killed a thread" and why you think it happened.

The last time I killed a thread, was in the Legionnaires thread. I promised to switch with someone (they were on a trip) in the posting order. So, I posted an addition to the story....and it died. The next person never showed up, so the ever-so-lovely Ozymandius Jones posted in it one last time and ended the story (it was pretty much over anyway). My reasoning for this happening in this case is 1.) the other person never bothered to show up (we killed him off in the Body Bags, heh heh) and 2.) my posts are just that bad! *sarcasm*

I think the "thread killing" is one of three things: 1) It was a relatively old topic anyway, so people were tired of it, 2) You said what needed to be said, so no one else replied, or 3) The whole topic seemed like a waste of time to someone else.

But, in the spirit of your thread, I'll try to recall the last thread I violently murdered. I think it was REVELATION'S "FEMME FATALE" [shameless plug] in the OB Anthology. Seriously, I love the story, and I hope she keeps writing, as it seems like I'm the only one who enjoys it.

 • 2 weeks later...
i feel the same way, i just loooked at every thread i've posted on so far, and hardly any othem have posts after mine. this has been true on every otherv forum i've ever been on too. life just sucks that way i guess. at least now i know i'm not alone, LOL :catgirl:

I don't think I've killed an extreme amount of threads... and since I'm too lazy to look, I won't. But, sometimes, I just make myself look like a moron in a topic... realize I didn't mean to say that thing... then come back with another reply that is so contradictory to what I said previously... it just gets ugly sometimes. XD

Most of the time, however, I don't believe it's actually me that kills the thread. I might just happen to be the last one that has anything to really say on the matter, then it just fades to the back, while new threads come flooding in. I mean, threads have to end at some point, right? And there is always going to be someone that has the last word.

Well I have killed my own tread. I don't remember when i posted it but I wanted to do a Wolf's Rain RPG. I posted the story and it all went great untill I said that we need 1 or something members and that was when it died. We could have went on with out that last character and when I was about to post this in the tread, i noticed that the people no longer around to do the RPG.
I also made this one tread about a picture that I did in paint and only Retribution replied with some advice. I told her thank you and puts what each picture looked like before and on one posted after me. It's seems to me I don't kill other peoples trends but my own treads.

Yup! I have killed more threads than I care to admit to in Adventure Square. The stories seem to be going fabulously, then I post and everyone else seems to fall off the map or no longer care. I don't think my writing is that bad, so I guess they all got bored or felt that the story line had gone as far as it could -- who knows? It is, however, great to know that other people feel the same remorse I do!

I have killed several since i first joined. One of them was my firend's and I felt bad after it stopped considering that it was my fault. I didn't join any rps for awhile since I didn't want to mess it up for anyone else but I got better and have only killed one so far in the last year.

If you want you can join my new rp and I promise to keep it going and if it does fail, then I will kill it so no one has to feel bad.

Where were you when ChibiHorsewoman was posting about a dozen threads a week?

Make it up to me by posting in the following threads:

Seriously, Stuart. You just need to learn when to kill a dying dog with some of those.

People like to complain that I never post in discussion threads, but that's just because so many are boring and repetitive. If there is something I feel I can contribute, I usually do, and I'm sure that goes for most members. These things succeed (or don't) based on their overall quality, so in a way bad posts are the worst 'thread killers' of all. That and Mitch, but we loved him anyway.

I don't think that a person can ever really go about 'killing a thread' themselves, but there are certainly members you don't want posting in your topics. Of course, I'd be more than happy to have anyone post in my threads; for some reason people are much more excited about the ideas behind the thread than they are in actually posting in them. This is mostly in The Arena, where pretty much everyone's hard work and creativity seems to taper off and die. If there's one place where threads are killed more often than anywhere else, it has to be there.

And no the Legionnaires are not dead, but if they are Minako is totally to blame.

Ha! Oh, yeah, I've killed me some threads. I think I remember killing the first five or so RPG's I was in. I remember thinking that this had something to do with me and I didn't sign up for any new ones for a while. I eventually grew out of that, of course!

Anyway, Minako, I know how you feel with the whole "I keep killing threads, I suck" vibe. I think we've all been there, but then we post in a thread that just won't go away then the post quality goes down hill because only newbies are posting in it so the mods are forced to lock it...

Heh, sorry about that... got off topic :animeswea

Well the last thread I killed was a Dr. Who RPG. >_< The person who started it just doesn?t have time due to school, but I still feel like I killed it somehow. I?m sure I?ve killed others, but none come to mind at the moment. Still to have killed a Dr. Who thread. >_< I feel like a murderer somehow! LOL!

Dr. Who rocks my proverbial socks. I really want to get my hands on the old seasons. (Yes. All of them.)
