Venge
People draw things for many different reasons...anger, sadness, happiness...thats the main gyst of it. But lets say you're angry. Why? You stubbed your toe. Then you decide to draw something. The outcome? A piece of someone stabbing someone in the gut with a broadsword as they gurgle and choke on their own blood. Simply put, slight anger with drawings can make others think you were extremely angry. But the question I have is why? Please help me out here. Ezekiel
I don't always draw angry or dark pictures when I'm annoyed or sad. In fact, it's pretty much the opposite. I like drawing dark and angsty pictures, which makes people think I'm constantly angsty or depressed. In December, whilst staying with ULX, I drew a woman's dead torso. It was rather gory, to put it lightly, but I wanted to test myself to see if I could draw something macabre...without legs and arms. I was pretty impressed with it, but ULX seemed to think he should put me on anti-psychotic meds. (I blame Wolf Creek for giving me the idea, however) *not insane* On the odd occasion, if I'm sulking, I'll draw an angsty bishie...then again, I draw angsty bishies most of the time anyway =/ I get where you're coming from, though. Art is an extremely good way of getting out strong feelings, especially negative ones. It's like a vent, I think. By putting all your 'angry energy' into the drawing, it's kind of...transferring it? That's how I think about it, anyway.
thezerosystem
Usually, the random people I draw look to me to have very placid, calm, kind of boring expressions. But then, for some odd reason, someone I show it to will say "Oh how terrible he looks so sad" and another will say "Ha, he looks like he's smirking at you". I dont really get this, but I think it is interesting. Other times I will try to draw a sad picture, and to me it will look sad, but to someone else it will look very positive, or the other way around. I dont really like showing people my art anymore, it makes me feel all backwards inside.
eleanor
There is not correlation between my feelings of anger and pictures I draw of people being violent or anything. Like Ezekiel, I usually draw calm people... and I also just usually draw brooding people no matter how I feel, lol. I'm sure the point you brought up can be applied to other artists, though. I just think art is another way to release your emotions by taking your mind off of things and concentrating on drawing.
