I'm primarily a Messenger user. I think it's the easiest one to use, though every new version brings with it more pointless bells and whistles I'm never going to use.

I also use AIM, because it's required of OB staff. I didn't use it before I was staff as I'm deeply distrstful of any and all AOL products. We used to use AOL as our internet provider, and it royally screwed up our computer. When we switched to a different provider, AOL still periodically kept popping up; it was nigh impossible to fully remove from the system, like the nastiest, most invasive spyware.

And I have Skype, which I would use if more people I knew also used it. I have a mic headset for it and everything!

I use MSN, AIM, and Yahoo!, but rarely Yahoo! anymore because my friends don't use it very much. All of my school friends use AIM, and my out of state friends either have MSN or Yahoo!. And with the out of state friends, I'm talking on MSN most of the time because I like the layout and it's comfortable for me.

I use AIM... when I remember to come on. Which is more than once a month, I swear! :animeblus

I've never used anything else, although I remember having a cursory interest in Trillian.

That applies to AIM as well; I wish there were a bare-bones version I could stick with.

I voted for AIM, solely because I use it more than Yahoo Instant Messenger or MSN Messenger combined.

I have all three so that I can chat with friends who solely have YIM (poor souls), MSN, or AIM. Last year, I got tired of having my MSN and AIM buddy lists open at once, so I decided to go Trillian. I haven't been disappointed yet -- especially with the Pro version.

Yeah, AIM has been pretty anal about their updates, but if you don't want all that fancy jazz they keep making you download, you could probably find an older version of AIM to download.

I use mainly msn. Most of my family is in Gaza or Jordan, and my mom prefers to use yahoo to chat with them (and most of them have yahoo accounts instead of hotrmail). I guess yahoo is easier to use with video and audio, at least when chatting with people so far away. I don't have any my friends added to my yahoo account, but my since mom uses yahoo alot, I end up using it (through her account) to chat with my relatives.

I rarely use MSN, but I stay logged into it either out of force of habit or paranoia that anyone I know might eventually log on. >_>

Not a hassle, though, because I use Adium as my client for that and AIM. Wonderfully nifty program, it is.

I use aim and msn messenger. Though I hardly log on atall lately due to lack of time. I have friends who only use aim, and some who only use msn, so I have use both.

AIM has some qualities I like, and some I do not, same with msn. So they even out. I absolutely hate how with aim if someone IMs you the window pops up, while your talking to someone else, so you end up with have the conversation to one person and half to the other. So aggrivating. ¬_¬

I tryed ICQ a few years back, and Yahoo. I used it for maybe ten minutes and that was that.

I am actually much more comfortable with Yahoo!, seeing as I've had it longer.

I have used MSN in the past, and I've had many people reccomend Trillian, but I've never really used either.

I just recently made my AIM account. Only because it seems to be the most popular, and all my friends had it [as opposed to Yahoo!].

The only thing is, I find I'm generally invisible on Yahoo!, because most of the people on my friends list aren't particularly people I enjoy talking to anymore.

Except maybe WavemasterTsuka, Brooklyn, and Dragon Warrior [Those are their OB names, not thier screennames, in case you didn't notice], but I don't talk to any of them much, it seems. I'm too busy being invisible to all my stalker/annoying friends to see if they're online or not [x

Heh. So I guess I use AIM more. Not because I prefer it, but because of the people on my friends list.

You could argue that I could just delete/block those people, but they make up about 97% of my friends. And I am extremely lazy. So whatever.

I use AIM through Trillian. AIM because the majority of people I know also use it (I started out on MSN but switched). Trillian because I find the interface vastly superior to the standard AIM client -- and it doesn't have those annoying ads. Plus, if I ever needed to use MSN, Yahoo, ICQ, or IRC, I could just use Trillian and have them all connected through one program.

I use Yahoo! primarily, and MSN after that. I barely ever use AIM, and only bother with it if my fiancee's Yahoo!/MSN isn't working properly. I use Yahoo! to chat to her nightly, and MSN to chat to anyone else I feel like talking to at the time (it's a very liquid buddy list). I use all three services through Adium X, an OSX client.

I go on IRC, (at irc.sorcery.net) occasionally as well, but like AIM usage, that's rare. For that I use Colloquy.

I just personally prefer MSN messenger to all the other instant message systems. Secondly I use AIM the most, despite the fact I'm not really a fan of AIM, but majority of my friends use that over MSN. I sign into Yahoo messenger about 3 or 4 times a week, but anyone is rarely on. I've been meaning to acquire an ICQ number, but never got around to doing it.:animeswea

I used to use Yahoo only then I was introduced to AIM and switched by only occasionally going to yahoo because all my friends were on AIM more.

I used AIM for most of my OB years but now I only use Msn Messenger. One person saw me log onto Aim the other day (like for the first time in over a year and a half) and was like "OMG YOUR ON AIM!!!" Yeah... So now im strictly MSN Messenger person. Of course thats only because the only 2 friends I got that i chat with use msn... so i dont have much of a reason to log onto any of the others.

YM 'cause I'm too lazy to figure out how the others work. :P

Not only is YM my friends' preferred messaging system (other than the insanely popular local SMS-PC service) but there's something in that grey sleeping smiley that makes me wanna fire YM up.

Yes, hrmm, this Trillian-thing sounds intriguing. Wonder if H2G2's Trillian is related.
What are this "Trillian" and this "Adium" of which you speak? Do they connect the contact lists from all your other IM clients? Because if so, cookies to whoever invented them.
They do, they do. Clients like Adium, Trillian, and Gaim allow you to log into different IM services with only one program. In addition to lots of other benefits, they usually have much better interfaces than the default clients like that of AIM.

When I chat I mostly use Yahoo because I think I have just gotten used to it. It was my first messenger and the one I mostly use now. I usualy log on whenever I am on the computer, although when I do that I usually stay invisible because I am a ninja like that. My last messenger Is MSN which I don't use as frequently as Yahoo. I will long on at the same time but mostly I will just leave it there.

I was tempted to get AIM one time then remembered that I still hate AOL for what they did to my last computer so I decided against it. Besides all my friends that do have AOL have either MSN or YIM so then I am sastified without it. I also have xfire just because I am spechul.. I love to be spechul although I am not this special.
