PaganAngel
Well, if you liked Final Fantasy X, definitely at least try Final Fantasy X-2. If you, like me, had only ever played Final Fantasy X and no other FF games, you'll find X-2 a real reinvention of the wheel. The battle system is totally revamped, so don't expecting it to be just 100 more hours of the game you just beat. If you love sidequests, this is the game for you. If you value a linear plot, stay very far away. And it would seem you're strictly an offline RPG-er. May I reccomend .hack? I love how the game gives the impression of being online without actually being online. It's a necessity for someone with a connection as crappy as mine. .hack is a way different experience as far as offline RPGs go.
The Spectacular Professor
Getting off the PS2 subject momentarily. Fire Emblem, Tales of Symphonia, and virtually any LOZ games are worth looking into (all gamecube titles). I don't think i should have to discuss much about the LOZ series and the good word of TOS i see has spread throughout the board already.
I can't BELIEVE no one has even mentioned a Tales game until BKstyles. If you like a great story that is as far from cookie-cutter as you can get and a battle system that's even further, Pick up ToS, people. It may seem cliched at first, but if you can live through the current story for 15 hours or so, there is a HUGE plot twist that will keep you playing to the end (if it doesn't, I'll give you a coupon for a free muffin or something.) The Zelda series is also a great series to get into, but I consider it to be more of an action game with some RPG elements. Never played Fire Emblem, but I'm willing to try. dog dancing1
I second the .hack one I got over a 120 hours on all 4 of the games. I would suggest you buy .hack infection and see how you like it its a group rgp like almost all of them. I like the storyline in them its pretty fun. But I would also suggest that you wait and try .hack//G U. It looks like a cool game. Xenosaga like a few other people said if you like FF then you probley like Xenosaga has pretty good story. It's a bit on the short side, but the thing i always find about SRPGs is if it's a good one, it has great replay value. Because battles can always go differently everytime you play.
