animeaddict2
what kind of store would it be and why? I would choose to have an icecream store, not only for the business but also for being able to stop in at any given time and have a free scoop or two :animesmil :animeswea
Charon
I'd love to own a coffee shop. I don't drink coffee, but I like the idea of a warm, coffee shop. And I'd also love to own a record store, and promote all the music I love; maybe a record store that serves coffee?
Jinpao Lee
Unhh. >_>; I'd probably phail horribly in the business of owning my own store, for I am known for the guy that is in debt to like.. 100 people in our school. I always does a fair amount of borrowing a cent or two every day, and in that way I always get a package of lunch or dessert on school every day. But my store would be a mix, you would be able to buy manga and anime, games, FAQ's and walkthroughs for games, some Japanese and Eastern food, plenty of ice cream, a small cafe where you could discuss with other fans of this, and a small internet cafe with 10 computers. That'd be complete Heaven. And a small shrine to Kingdom Hearts, where you would be.. a able to play KH1, KH2 and Chains of Memories on 40" screens. >_>; totally great!!
Annie
I work in a chocolate store now, and absolutely love it. Though, we don't do too much making chocolates; that makes me sad. I would like to learn about making chocolate, and perhaps open a shop of my own some day. I've been watching a lot of Food TV lately, and it's been mostly about chocolate. I knew that there's a lot to making chocolate, but not as much as I had origninally thought. However, this just makes me want to learn more.
John
Mine would probably be a restaurant. My family had one a few years ago, and owning a restaurant really allows for a huge amount of creative freedom in many areas. Really, the only boundaries you have are the very loose ones of your food service provider and your location. After that, you can do almost anything you want with it, and it's pretty exciting. myst
well, i think i'd like to own a small cafe. where you can just kind walk in and have a icecream or something. you know, like something cozy, not too big
Doukeshi
I would like to own a grungy comic store where I could be my own boss. It wouldn't have to be big, just a nice medium size to let folks have a bit of a wander and a browse. If anyone has ever see the movie 'Comic Book Villains' I'd want to have a store like Raymonds and I'd call it 'Funny Books' in honour ^_~.
Cat
I would want to own a book and music store. I have always been a book worm and could spend hours just trying to pick a book out. It would be great to own a store where people could come and find the music that is rare to find in the United States. For example people wpuld be able to find the like bands HIM and The 69 Eyes. Also I would stock music that are from the 80's becaues some of those bands are hard to find as well.
IceRose
I'd have a bookstore or a flower shop. I love books, everyone who knows me in the real world knows that I my room is just a huge library full of books, I love to read, there is nothing wrong with that. I'd love to have a book store therefore. I also like gardening and tending to flowers, partly because my mother was raised in a farm and when I visited my aunts I always stayed near the flowers
James
If I could open a store (and if I had an unlimited budget), I'd probably want to open a video game or music store. Or maybe a combination of both. A lot of game stores are really boring, I think. One store near my old home, called Video Games Heaven, did a few things really well though. The owner used to visit Tokyo Game Show and E3 and each year after he came back, he'd put up souveniers from the show all around the shop. I remember one year, he had a glass case in the center of the store with a giant "Tokyo Game Show" Japanese fan sitting there on display. It was fantastic. So if I could create a game store with unlimited cash, I'd probably have it on multiple levels and I'd probably incorporate a few little ideas that I've seen elsewhere - like the playing booths that Nintendo have at their Nintendo store in New York, for instance. A music store would also be cool, as I really love the atmosphere of such places. With unlimited money, I'm sure an amazing store could be built. I liked what the Virgin Megastore near me did, where they had a sound-proof area that was seperated from the rest of the store (it was a type of red glass or perspex, in a curve, but it had a large opening in one side for visitors). I'm sure that type of thing could be expanded upon. I like the idea of people sampling different kinds of music at any volume they want, without disturbing the rest of the store. kayutori_sama
If I was ever fortunate enough to have my own shop, it would be a bookstore that sold food , games and maybe an internet cafe too. Renting anime and games would be an option ,and you could pick up some anime merchandise also. Heh, a couple anime courier bags, plushies, keychains and DVD's never hurt anyone. A comfortable shop that would be a haven to nearly anyone. I would probably like to hold anime club meetings there (or any type of club meeting). There would be a good sized room, with a plasma TV, dvd player, and surround sound system, in the back of the shop to try out music, or previewing before you wanted to purchase it. The anime store where I live does that, and I find that to be a nice option. The only thing would be people that would try and watch the entire dvd and not buy it, but there would be regulations on how much of the dvd you would be allowed to watch. Basically, the shop would be all my favorite elements in one store.
Broken scarab
Hello, i am the broken scarab, and i'd have to say if i owened a shop, i'd own a guitar store, just cause i love guitars :animesmil
Dodeca
If I could open my own store... ...I'd probably open one that sells all sorts of random bits and bobs that don't seem to have any point to them, but still get bought by people with an unexplainable urge to buy things. I'd let my eccentric side run free, rambling on about odd things, singing to myself, and pulling faces and talking to customers in obscure accents. Thus, the part of me that usually only comes out in a tedious card/board-game or a bizarre conversation would be free to roam the world! Well... maybe not the world... but definitely within my Little Shop of Thingy-Bobs. Five weeks later, I'd be bankrupt and labelled as a freak for life, but it'd be worth it. More realistically, I'd probably want to run a games and movies store, but I don't think I'd find that quite as satisfying. Heh.
Retribution
Well, like everyone else has said, I'd probably want to open up a tea shop (fair trade only!) that also sold books. What I'm going off of is a mental image of this store in DC called Politics and Prose -- very cozy, very artsy kind of place, and there's a coffeehouse poetry reading there once a month. And I'd also like to rip off Starbucks' upstairs internet cafe idea, as I really enjoyed the ambience of it, and I wasn't even at a computer.
Horendithas
If I were to open a store it would be a combination of many different stores. It would be a place where you go to get stuff for relaxation, like bath salts, aromatherapy, incense and books on how to do meditation or yoga. It would have candles and plants and classes on setting up a space in your home exclusively for going into just to sit down and take it easy. I would offer workshops to for people to learn how to do different types of relaxation activities as well. I would also want to have a top level where there are comfy chairs and bench?s among plants and the various things so customers could see and experience for themselves how relaxing and soothing such things can be. It would certainly be a lot of fun to do.

Neat. It should come as no surprise that I would like to open up my own comic book shop. While I've come across some great stores in the Los Angeles area, it stills feels incredibly nerdy to walk into these places sometimes. Quite often the atmosphere is what turns people away from shopping there, so I'd like to run something that doesn't make you feel like you're buying porn when you walk in. Heck, just having natural lighting would make a world of difference. Creating a place people want to spend time at is important, as it only seems natural that spending time and money at a store go hand-in-hand. Also, I would like to build up some sort of community among the patrons at my shop. There would be regular events, like book clubs or special guests or something. Obviously this whole store is very poorly thought out, but it would be very cool to do someday. -Shy
Sayuri-sama
well i know it sounds boring but i would like to have aflower shop or a bakery! its just so fun!! i really like plants and i love to cook, so this would be so great for me! also its kinda relaxing. with my insane lifestly it would be nice to have a cute little shop to run !!!!:p
Aaoyr
i would love a manga life shop. The're pretty class. Kanariya
If I owned a store of my own, it would be something like Best Buy, big or small that is filled with electronics and various technology. Also, there would be music you usually can't find in stores, in which the kinds you have to buy on amazon.com or if you buy Japanese, Chinese, or Korean music, yesasia.com. There would be music with lots of bass throughout the store, too. That'd be cool. :
KatanaViolet
It would be like a comic book shop, but specializing in anime goods. Manga, DVDs, OSTs, shirts, accessories... but it would also have a little eating nook built in, so people could by some simple japanese snacks and stuff... It would have posters all up on the wall, and I'd rotate music between J-Pop/Rock and my own personal music. It'd be like a comic book shop and anime convention mixed into a quaint little store... Panda
I think I may be one of the only people here who can say that I have "been there and done that". I already have my own business license (oh the joys of paying taxes upon taxes!) so I answer this question with a very realistic view on the joys of business ownership. In case someone is wondering I designed and created beaded jewelry that I sold in a little boutique. If I had massive disposable income to open up a shop of my very own I would like to have a little anime/manga/japanese music/game shop. I would do rentals and sales, found a club for fans to join and maybe a little cafe. I would have screenings of different anime series and get anime industry guest - voice actors and artists - to make in store appearances. I would also have Japanese cultural events. Tea ceremony, lessons on how to put kimonos on, origami and maybe even fan dancing lessons.

Too bad we both aren't totally loaded with cash, otherwise we could go into business together. Especially the cultural events. If there was a place like that here, I'd go all the time. And I"m sure everyone in my Japanese class would go too. Depending on where your located, I'm sure a store like that would make great profits. :animesigh One can dream... Fyxe
I can't believe no one has mentioned a clothing store yet. XD But, yes... I would like to have my own clothing store. I have a really hard time finding things I like in stores, and I can't always just go and order things off the internet. So, if I could make my own clothes, I'd love to sell them to people that had that same problem. Such as... nice little Victorian clothes... get orders from TokiDoki... you know? Just make my own designs and sell stuff from the few companies I like. I think that'd be really cool. Be able to see someone wearing the clothes you made with your own two hands. It would be a damanding job if you were the only one making the stuff, but it would be worth it, I think. I'd also love to work in a chocolate store or cake shop. Oh, and a comic store, too. There is this little place called DayDream Comics in Iowa City that I just love. They don't have the biggest collection, but I love browsing around there whenever I visit my dad. If I ever go to college in Iowa City, I think that is where I would apply for a job. So cozy and cool. The people there are pretty awesome, too. Delta
^ Dang. You post too fast, Lix. Thought I'll be the first one to say "I'm gonna sell clothes." Anyway, I'd probably open a costume shop and sell racks upon racks of ecchi maid uniforms, leather catsuits and pouffy skirts. Flamboyant, kinky, gaudy, whatever; my shop's got what them run-of-the-mill department stores won't dare dream of selling. (hmm, got a tagline there)
