Any Snowboarders/Skiers?

I've been skiing since I was five and I learned how to snowboard about three years ago, so I was just wondering how many OB users skied or snowboarded. :]

I'm not really into summer sports, but I love winter sports a whole lot better. My interest in snowboarding rised up after watching the snowboarding events in the winter olympics this year, so I'm trying to get better at snowboarding. I've been freeriding (basically just riding the mountain) even since I've learned, and I'm looking into learning how to halfpipe. Seems fun, but of course it's probably harder than first learning how to snowboard. >_>I'm also looking into a snowboarding camp during the summer to learn halfpipe, so I wouldn't need to buy a new board for it at the moment. I wish snowboarding wasn't such an expensive sport.

I've got an Atomic Tika 151, but I'm looking into saving up for a new board when I graduate high school (really want to go to Williams, Middlebury, or get a scholarship to one of the Colorado schools because of ski/snowboard resorts they offer). I'm hoping I can look into the future models of the Burton Feelgood and the Rome Blue, and future Atomic boards for women.

I skied about six-seven times. It is so much fun!

Anyways, I snowboarded once. It was a huge mistake. I was in pain for so many days after! My brother also made fun of me because he thinks I am a way better skier than snowboarder. But, he's such a show off! We learned on the same day, and he was so much better than I was!

I really want to go skiing before winter ends. I'm not sure if I would attempt snowboarding again... I think if I got my own board and practiced, I would be better. But, the closet resort around here is about 2 hours away.

I never tried snowboarding, but I'm an avid skiier. Well, snow-blader, but it's essentially the same thing. I like snowblades because they're lighter and smaller and it makes turning a lot easier. Plus when you wipe out you don't twist your leg or break an ankle or somthing, and can get up a lot easier.

I ski whenever I have the chance, which isn't pretty often where I live unfortunatly (very cold but very flat). I love it. Especially spring skiing, that's killer!

I'm an avid snowboarder since a few years. I've been skiing for almost 9 years, but changed it to snowboarding when I went on vacation with some family members who also wanted to learn snowboarding with me.

I never want to go back to skiing again, I love snowboarding much more! I can only snowboard once a year though, since Belgium's pretty much far away from the mountains in France and stuff. And I'm not an adult yet, so I can't do as I wish. Right now I've snowboarded two times already, and I'm leaving this Saturday for another week. That'll be my third time snowboarding. I'd also really like to check out jumps, since I'm a freerider like Lunox!

I'd really love to get myself Burton snowboard material but it's all so expensive!

I have been snowboarding ever since I was a Freshmen in high school, which was about four years ago. I haven't advanced too much since I am afraid of heights, heh heh.

I can snowboard just fine now though and I enjoy it very much. I started when my family moved to Washington State and near some mountains. My family had a French exchange student that really loved to snowboard. Wanting to be different from the rest of my family who are all skiiers, I decided to learn snowboarding. Besides, I also heard from several people that snowboarding is harder after learning how to ski. If I ever get passed my fear of heights and going to fast, I'm sure I'd be able to try halfpipe and so on.

I've only been snowboarding once, but I am going again today, in about an hour and a half. I absolutely love snowboarding now and I want to keep doing it, (even if I did have soft ball sized bruises and I almost broke my knee...). But, yeah, I live in Colorado, so snowboarding or skiing is kind of something you gotta do. It's like a given.
I used to live in Oregon and now here. People were really shocked when they found out I had never been snowboarding before, so I'm glad I finally got into it. Word to the wise - if you live in one of the biggest snowboarding/skiing states. Make sure you've been at least once. Or be ashamed... I learned the hard way.

I'm an all round snowboarder. :D I love it. I have probably been going at if for say 3 years now, and it still doesn't get boring. :animestun I go for the speed more than the freestyle. But if you say 'jump!' guess what you'll see me doing? Hey I hope to see all of you snow lovers around. :catgirl:

I live in Texas, which means that i have to go out of state to ski or snowboard.
I've done both and i enjoy snowboarding better than skiing.
Usually i go every year with my boyscout troop, but this years was cancelled because the place we usually go to only had 8 trails open.

I haven't gone snowboarding in a few years :animecry:
There's a mountain here, but I don't know the way, and my car isn't exactly built for driving up a mountain. I don't really have anyone to go with either. :animedepr
That sucks too, because I was just starting to get better... I hope it's like riding a bike, you know, once you stop for a long time, you can still pick it back up.
Skiing is a definate no no for me though.... I only tried going once and that was in 6th grade... and it was my first time ever, and my friend decides that 20 minutes on the bunny hill is good enough practice and drags me up to the chair lift. Yea, I barely made it half way down the hill when I started to pick up way to much speed and bailed, HARD. My knee is still messed up from that... but then again, I have bad knees as it is. Anyways... haven't skiied since.

I so know where you're coming from. When I first learned snowboarding, I was with a friend, and we had been practicing on the bunny hill for about twenty minutes (which is like, nothing, considering how hard it is to pick up snowboarding basics). Then my dad shows up and forces us to go down the intermediate slope...

It actually helped me, though. The bunny hill really didn't do anything for me. It was too small and short, so you barely had time while going down it to actually practice. For the first half of that intermediate course, I felt like dying. There was one point where there was so much snow that I fell, got up, and then fell immediately again four times in a row. Much pain. But then I was pretty pissed at myself, so I put on a 'screw it' attitude and I got it then. v_v

I'm a snowaborder but I've only been snowboarding twice in my life so far (in Australia, especially where I live, going to the snow is difficult). I'm still having trouble cornering in soft powder but on icy snow I'm all right. I've never skiied before so I can't really compare, but I found learning to snowboard really easy. My first instructor was really sweet about me not being as good as the boys in my group. ^_^

It was definately not fun I'll tell ya.
I've never fallen that hard since skiing though. I've taken some pretty rough tumbles snowboarding but I always just get back up and keep going. I find that falling is a given, at least until you can get the hang of balancing your edge and carving and all that stuff. But you can be expected to fall, and definately be expected to be hurting the next day!
Man, I wanna go snowboarding now. :animecry:

Definately. Falling is like a given whenever anyone was 'learning' and 'snowboarding' in the same sentence. When I first learned, I was in pain for the next two days. My knees looked like some guy had taken a bat and started whamming on them...the bruises lasted for forever. :/

Yet even after all that, you still want to snowboard (or ski)!
Eventually your body gets used to it though.
I haven't had alot of excercise lately, and my 9 year old cousin got me to spend an hour just dancing to music with her... that was 2 days ago and I'm still sore!!
Imagine what'd it'd be like if I went snowboarding hahah I probably wouldn't be able to move...
Haha totally unrelated, but have any of you ever been on those T-bars? we have them at the mountain I used to go to, and my cousin took me up there one time, but I guess I was too little or something because the t-bar started to lift me off the ground and then I fell right on my face.

ahhh good times good times... I miss the slopes... I wish I had people to go with me!

I've snowboarded 5 times, skiid twice... basically there isn't much snow around where I live, lol (Central Coast NSW, Australia), but I do go back home to New Zealand sometimes and when I do, that's when I ski or snow-board. I surf more, though ('cept now my surf board's broken and I can't afford a new one, lol).

I'm a reaonable skier for a brit, since we have next to no opportunity for real skiing. Never done snowboarding, as since I only go once a year I want to make the most of my time in the mountains, rather than faff about on the nursery slopes.
