2010DigitalBoy
Everyone has a song that they like and can relate too. Sont of what they convey as their message, what they have to say to others. There are several songs I feel that way about, and here's one of em. Escape From The City Rolling around at the speed of sound, Got places to go, gotta follow my rainbow. Can't stick around, have to keep moving on, Guess what lies ahead, only one way to find out! Must keep on moving ahead, No time for guessing, follow my plan instead. Trusting in what you can't see, Take my lead I'll set you free. Follow me, set me free, Trust me and we will escape from the city. I'll make it through, follow me. Follow me, set me free, Trust me and we will escape from the city. I'll make it through prove it to you. Follow me! Oh yeah! Danger is lurking around every turn, Trust your feelings, got to live and learn. I know with some luck that I'll make it through, Got no other options, only one thing to do! I don't care what lies ahead, No time for guessing, follow my plan instead. Find the next stage, no matter what that may be. Take my lead, I'll set you free. Follow me, set me free, Trust me and we will escape from the city. I'll make it through, follow me. Follow me, set me free, Trust me and we will escape from the city. I'll make it through through, prove it to you. Follow me! Follow me!
Albert Flasher
I love the song 'Throwing off Glass' by the Tragically Hip. The pace of the song suits me well. Very slow and laid-back. Throwing off Glass by the Tragically Hip "Why is the world so creepy?" she asked After a car full of haircuts drove past A backseat full of 'the boys' I told her that 'It isn't... that...that it's exquisite but like love, it has it's barbarous threats Still in spite of the cads and the stoop-shouldered teens I know I'm losing you I know what that means, yea I told her that it isn't That it's real exquisite but like love, it can have it's stubbed-toe effects And just like after she heard the word 'iridescent' and everything was iridescent for awhile, It wasn't long before she exalted out of nowhere, 'Isn't this exquisite?' Once you've said 'mmm' in unison and 'oh' in double surprise and shared relief with a mutual 'phew' and a look in each others' eyes I tell her that is isn't Insisted that it isn't because like love it has too-cunning effects I told her that it isn't that it's just exquisite because like love it has it's barbarous threats 'Why is the world so creepy?' she asked after a car full of haircuts drove past a backseat full of the boys Breaking glass Throwing off glass. Another would be Rush's Subdivisons Sprawling on the fringes of the city In geometric order An insulated border In between the bright lights And the far unlit unknown Growing up it all seems so one-sided Opinions all provided The future pre-decided Detached and subdivided In the mass production zone Nowhere is the dreamer or the misfit so alone Chorus (Subdivisions) In the high school halls In the shopping malls Conform or be cast out (Subdivisions) In the basement bars In the backs of cars Be cool or be cast out Any escape might help to smooth the unattractive truth But the suburbs have no charms to soothe the restless dreams of youth Drawn like moths we drift into the city The timeless old attraction Cruising for the action Lit up like a firefly Just to feel the living night Some will sell their dreams for small desires Or lose the race to rats Get caught in ticking traps And start to dream of somewhere To relax their restless flight Somewhere out of a memory of lighted streets on quiet nights...
Cat
I have so many I'll just give a few and explain why I like them. The first one is Vampire Heart by HIM. Vmpire Heart~ You can't escape the wrath of my heart beating to your funeral song all faith is lust for hell regained and love dust in the hands of shame let me bleed you this song of my heart deformed and lend you along this path in the dark where I belong until I feel your warmth hold me like you held on to life when all fears came alive and entombed me love me like you loved the sun scorching the blood in my vampire heart I am the thorns in every rose you've been sent by hope I am the nightmare waking you up from the dream of a dream of love let me weep you this poem as heaven'g gates close and paint you my soul scarred and alone waithing for you kiss to take me back home. The second song is called Killing Loneliness by HIM Killing Loneliness~Memories sharp as daggers pierce into the flesh of today the suicide of love took away all the matters and buried the remains in an unmarked grave in your heart with the venomous kiss you gave me I'm killing Loneliness with the warmth of your arms you saved me I'm killing loneliness with you the killing loneliness that turned mu heart into a tomb nailed to a cross together as solitude begs us to stay we disappear in the lie forever and denousce the power of death over our souls as secret words are said to start a war. I all ready know that these songs are really weird but if you look closely at the lyrics you can see that in killing loneliness the song writer is alot happier then what he was when he wrote Vampire Heart. That is another why I like them because one is talking about the darker side to love (Vampier Heart] with break ups and stuff and the other is talking about how he either got bak together with the one he loves or he found another, this is why he is not lonely any more. The last song that I would like to talk about is Billy Idols Sweet Sixteen. "Sweet Sixteen" I'll do anything For my sweet sixteen, And I'll doanything For little run away child Gave my heart an engagement ring. She took ev'rything. Ev'rything I gave her, Oh sweet sixteen. Built a moon For a rocking chair. I never guessed it would Rock her far from here Oh, oh, oh, oh. Someone's built a candy castle For my sweet sixteen. Someone's built a candy brain And filled it in. Well I'll do anything For my sweet sixteen Oh I'll do anything For little runaway child Well, memories will burn you. Memories grow older as people can They just get colder Like sweet sixteen Oh, I see it's clear Baby, that you are All through here Oh, oh, oh, oh. Someone's built a candy castle For my sweet sixteen, Someone's built a candy house To house her in. Someone's built a candy castle For my sweet sixteen. Someone's built a candy brain And filled it in. And I do anything For my sweet sixteen Oh, I do anything For little run away girl. Yeah, sad and lonely and blue. Yeah, gettin' over you. How, how do you think it feels Yeah to get up in the morning, get over you. Up in the morning, get over you. Wipe away the tears, get over you, get over, get over... My sweet sixteen Oh runaway child Oh sweet sixteen Little runaway girl. Gave my heart an engagement ring She left everything Everything I gave her Sweet sixteen Built a moon For a rocking chair, Never guessed it would Rock her far from here Oh, oh, oh Someone's built a candy castle For my sweet sixteen. Someone's built a candy house To house her in. Someone's built a candy castle For my sweet sixteen Someone's built a candy house To house her in. And I'll do anything For my sweet sixteen Oh, I'll do anything For little runaway child. Oh sweet sixteen Oh Do anything For my sweet sixteen I'll do anything For little runaway girl Little runaway girl Oh sweet sixteen Oh The reason I like this song is that it holds a merorie in which at one point in some one life they search for there long lost sweet sixteen. He had found her but she left him for some reason right after he gave her every thing that he could. It also tells that not even though he thought that he had gave her every thing she wanted it wa not enough for her. This could also be a reason she left him.
John
Loved, loved, loved that first one, Ziggy. =D The first song that came to mind for me was "The Impression That I Get" by The Mighty Mighty Bosstones. It's their biggest (read: only) hit, maybe, but not without good reason. I love the Bosstones' lyrics. Not poetic at all, but they say exactly what they're supposed to, clearly and succinctly. This song in particular reflects probably the most prominent way I try to look at things in my life. The Impression That I Get Have you ever been close to tragedy Or close to folks who have? Have you ever felt a pain so powerful So heavy you collapse? No? Well... I never had to knock on wood But I know someone who has Which makes me wonder if I could It makes me wonder if I never had to knock on wood And I'm glad I haven't yet Because I'm sure it isn't good That's the impression that I get have you ever had the odds stacked up so high You need a strength most don't possess? Or has it ever come down to do or die? You've got to rise above the rest No? Well... I never had to knock on wood But I know someone who has Which makes me wonder if I could It makes me wonder if I never had to knock on wood And I'm glad I haven't yet Because I'm sure it isn't good That's the impression that I get I'm not a coward, I've just never been tested I'd like to think that if I was I would pass Look at the tested and think there but for the grace go I might be a coward, I'm afraid of what I might find out I never had to but I'd better knock on wood 'Cause I know someone who has Which makes me wonder if I could It makes me wonder if I never had to but I'd better knock on wood And I'm glad I haven't yet Because I'm sure it isn't good That's the impression that I get
TheShinje
I picked "Through the Fire" by Christian metal band, Day of Fire, it's a great rock track and it's lyrics are sufficently uplifting and spiritual to boot.
Day Of Fire Lyrics Walk in the flame again, I'll be there to hold your hand, Keeping you safe until the end And when the flood begins, I'll be there with you to stand, Walking in faith until the end Chorus: I see you through the flood, See you through the fire, See you through the storms-a-raging. Walking the darkest rain I cover you by my name, A shelter inside your world of pain Step on the waters waves Coming to me by faith I am the light of better days (Chorus) I see you through the flood, I see you through the fire, I see you thorough, the storms are raging don't be afraid I'll never leave you lying Forever yours Forever yours Forever yours I am
Renate
I myself picked Wunderkind by Alanis Morissette. The first time I heard it I thought it exactly voiced my own feelings, what I want the world to be like for me. Especially the naive part fits me sometimes! Wunderkind Oh perilous place walk backwards toward you Blink disbelieving eyes chilled to the bone Most visibly brave no aprehended gloom First to take this foot to virgin snow I am a magnet for all kinds of deeper wonderment I am a wunderkind oh oh oh oooooh And I lift the envelope pushed far enough to believe this I am a princess on the way to my throne Destined to serve, destined to roam Oh ominous place spellbound and unchild-proofed My least favorite chill to bare alone Compatriots in place they'd cringe if I told you Our best back-pocket secret our bond full-blown I am a magnet for all kinds of deeper wonderment I am a wunderkind oh oh oh oooooh I am a pioneer naive enough to believe this I am a princess on the way to my throne Destined to seek, destined to know Most beautiful place reborn and blown off roof My view about-face whether great will be done I am a magnet for all kinds of deeper wonderment I am a wunderkind oh oh oh oooooh I am a ground-breaker naive enough to believe this I am a princess on the way to my throne I am a magnet for all kinds of deeper wonderment I am a wunderkind oh oh oh oooooh I am a Joan of Arc and smart enough to believe this I am a princess on the way to my throne Destined to reign, destined to roam Destined to reign, destined to roam Destined to reign, destined to roam Destined to reign, destined to roam
KatanaViolet
Oh my goodness, there are so many... but lets start with one... NOFX- Decom Poseur She's a painting out of focus, with no good sense of intention She's authentic She's a model of disaster with the heart of revolution She's so innocent, but guilty's her plea Everybody wants to save her from her self, they really want to save themselves She's got the grace of a tourist, with the charm of demolition She's a poem without meter or rhyme, a random design of a flower Like a rose... no one really knows. She's a masterpeice deserving restoration or condemnation Time will tell us, if she's a lifer, or a decomposeur She is rose, no one really knows. Rhym
Well, personally, the song I most relate to would have to be Rhapsody's Triumph For My Magic Steel... All kidding aside, my song would have to be Opeth's The Drapery Falls. This song is truly amazing. It's probably my favorite song off of Blackwater Park, which, in my opinion, is one of the greatest albums ever made, so there you go. The Drapery Falls Please remedy my confusion And thrust me back to the day The silence of your seclusion Brings night into all you say Pull me down again And guide me into pain I'm counting nocturnal hours Drowned visions in haunted sleep Faint flickering of your powers Leaks out to show what you keep Pull me down again And guide me into... There is failure inside This test I can't persist Kept back by the enigma No criterias demanded here Deadly patterns made my wreath Prosperous in your ways Pale ghost in the corner Pouring a caress on your shoulder Puzzled by shrewd innocence Runs a thick tide beneath Ushered into inner graves Nails bleeding from the struggle It is the end for the weak at heart Always the same A lullaby for the ones who've lost all Reeling inside My gleaming eye in your necklace reflects Stare of primal regrets You turn your back and you walk away Never again Spiralling to the ground below Like Autumn leaves left in the wake to fade away Waking up to your sound again And lapse into the ways of misery I don't really think I can relate to the lyrics (or think I even know what they mean) but the song, and how his (Mikael Ã…kerfeldt's) vocals mesh with it, weave this beautiful musical tapestry.
jigglyness
I think many people can relate to this song including me. It's pretty much about how relationships can start to lose the love they once had and how people would cling to each other to be in a relationship. Senses Fail - Choke on this Half smoke cigarettes and you're the trash that infests my sheets can't make a wife out of a whore, don't want your skin on me And you're, you're addicted to the drug of lust Detoxing the cold sweat of shame and I love your pain I gave you these roses now but I left in the thorns I'd rather hurt someone then hurt myself I'll dispose of you like a lighter out of fuel I'll lose you somewhere on a dusty shelf Sot his love's been worn down, like songs on a tape The sex has lost all of its fun, like gum loses taste And you're, you're addicted to the drug of lust, Detoxing the cold sweat of shame and I love your pain I gave you these roses now but I left in the thorns I'd rather hurt someone then hurt myself I'll dispose of you like a lighter out of fuel I'll lose you somewhere on the shelf I'm here lying in your bed babe Remember what you said to me "You can be my James Dean, I'll be your sweet queen" I said that you were my first, but you weren't even close now Like a frame in a movie, you're just one of many Can you grant me one last wish Play russian roulette as we kiss I'll be your cheap novelty Blow your brains out on me I gave you these roses now but I left in the thorns I'd rather hurt someone then hurt myself I'll dispose of you like a lighter out of fuel I'll lose you somewhere on the shelf
Ezekiel
I have so many favourite songs and ones that I feel 'represent' me somehow, because I choose my favourite bands on the pure fact that they write lyrics I can relate to. One, however, I always feel would be 'my song' is probably 'I'm a Fake' by The Used. I'm not really sure why, I just always feel like it's me when I listen to it. I'm a Fake (Spoken) Small, simple, safe price Rise the wake and carry me with all of my regrets This is not a small cut that scabs, and dries, and flakes, and heals And I am not afraid to die I'm not afraid to bleed, and ****, and fight. I want the pain of payment What's left, but a section of pigmy size cuts Much like a slew of a thousand unwanted ****s Would you be my little cut? Would you be my thousand ****s? And make mark leaving space for the guilt to be liquid To fill, and spill over, and under my thoughts My sad, sorry, selfish cry out to the cutter I'm cutting trying to picture your black broken heart Love is not like anything Especially a ******* knife! Look at me, you can tell By the way I move and do my hair Do you think that it's me or it's not me? I don't even care I'm alive I don't smell I'm the cleanest I have ever been. I feel big, I feel tall, I feel dry (dry) [Chorus:] Just look at me, look at me now I'm a fake [x4] Just look at me, look at me now I'm a fake [x4] Do I drink? Do I date? I've got perfect placement all my ink Satisfied, in your eyes I'm the biggest fan I've got right now I made sure, that I look how I wanted to look The people around me, the people surround me I feel big, I feel tall, I feel dry (dry) [Chorus] My stomach hurts now, and all tied off in lace I pray, I beg for anything, to hit me in the face and this sicknes isn't me, I pray to fall from grace The last thing I see is feeling And I'm telling you I'm a fake [x4] And I'm telling you I'm... [Chorus] If you haven't heard the song, or some of the Used's heavier music, then some of the lyrics will seem a little less important. It's so much better actually listening to it. I was going to say "Dear Jamie (Sincerely Me)" was a song I relate to, but that would be cheating, because the only thing I have in common with it is my name. =P

saru-miha
Well, My favorite song for the music is Carnation. It's just plain beautiful. But my favorite for the lyrics is In My Defense. Freddie Mercury <33 In my defense What is there to say? All the mistakes we've made Must be faced today It's not easy now... Knowing where to start. While the world we loved. Tears itself apart. I'm just a singer with a song. How can I try To right the wrong? For just a singer with a melody I'm caught in between With a fading dream. In my defense What is there to say? We destroy the love It's our way. We never listen enough Never faced the truth And like a passing song Love is here and then it's gone. I'm just a singer with a song How can I try To write the wrong? For just a singer with a melody I'm caught in between With a fading dream. -guitar- Just a singer with a song How can I try To right the wrong? For just a singer with a melody I'm caught in between With a fading dream... Caught in between With a fading dream... Caught in between With a fading dream... Oh what about love? How do I try to relive or die... Help me God Please help me.
Emme888
ok i have 2 songs the first is by ani difranco : so what who's gonna give a **** who's gonna take the call when you find out that the road ahead is painted on a wall and you're turned up to top volume and you're just sitting there in pause with your feral little secret scratching at you with its claws and you're trying hard to figure out just exactly how you feel before you end up parked and sobbing forehead on the steering wheel who are you now and who were you then that you thought somehow you could just pretend that you could figure it all out the mathematics of regret so it takes two beers to remember now and five to forget that i loved you so yeah, i loved you, so what how many times undone can one person be as they're careening through the facade of their favorite fantasy you just close your eyes slowly like you're waiting for a kiss and hope some lowly little power will pull you out of this but none comes at first and little comes at all and when inspiration finally hits you it barely even breaks your fall who were you then and who are you now that you can't pretend that you can figure it all out subtract out the impact and the fall is all you get so it takes two beers to remember now and three more to forget that i loved you so yeah, i loved you, so what i loved you so what and the other one would have to be tracy chapman : fast car You got a fast car I want a ticket to anywhere Maybe we make a deal Maybe together we can get somewhere Anyplace is better Starting from zero got nothing to lose Maybe we'll make something But me myself I got nothing to prove You got a fast car And I got a plan to get us out of here I been working at the convenience store Managed to save just a little bit of money We won't have to drive too far Just 'cross the border and into the city You and I can both get jobs And finally see what it means to be living You see my old man's got a problem He live with the bottle that's the way it is He says his body's too old for working I say his body's too young to look like his My mama went off and left him She wanted more from life than he could give I said somebody's got to take care of him So I quit school and that's what I did You got a fast car But is it fast enough so we can fly away We gotta make a decision We leave tonight or live and die this way I remember we were driving driving in your car The speed so fast I felt like I was drunk City lights lay out before us And your arm felt nice wrapped 'round my shoulder And I had a feeling that I belonged And I had a feeling I could be someone, be someone, be someone You got a fast car And we go cruising to entertain ourselves You still ain't got a job And I work in a market as a checkout girl I know things will get better You'll find work and I'll get promoted We'll move out of the shelter Buy a big house and live in the suburbs You got a fast car And I got a job that pays all our bills You stay out drinking late at the bar See more of your friends than you do of your kids I'd always hoped for better Thought maybe together you and me would find it I got no plans I ain't going nowhere So take your fast car and keep on driving You got a fast car But is it fast enough so you can fly away You gotta make a decision You leave tonight or live and die this way
Alchemist1080
I have alot of songs that I can relate to but here's one I can really relate to. it's called the 4th Branch by immortal technique ( it's hip hop so I expect no one to have heard of it. But if u have, then cool.) Talking] The new age is upon us And yet the past refuses to rest in its shallow grave For those who hide behind the false image of the son of man shall stand before God!!! It has begun The beginning of the end Yeah.. Yeah... yeah, yeah [Verse 1] The voice of racism preaching the gospel is devilish A fake church called the prophet Muhammad a terrorist Forgetting God is not a religion, but a spiritual bond And Jesus is the most quoted prophet in the Qu'ran They bombed innocent people, tryin' to murder Saddam When you gave him those chemical weapons to go to war with Iran This is the information that they hold back from Peter Jennings Cause Condoleeza Rice is just a new age Sally Hemmings I break it down with critical language and spiritual anguish The Judas I hang with, the guilt of betraying Christ You murdered and stole his religion, and painting him white Translated in psychologically tainted philosophy Conservative political right wing, ideology Glued together sloppily, the blasphemy of a nation Got my back to the wall, cause I'm facin' assassination Guantanamo Bay, federal incarceration How could this be, the land of the free, home of the brave? Indigenous holocaust, and the home of the slaves Corporate America, dancin' offbeat to the rhythm You really think this country, never sponsored terrorism? Human rights violations, we continue the saga El Savador and the contras in Nicaragua And on top of that, you still wanna take me to prison Just cause I won't trade humanity for patriotism [Hook] It's like MK-ULTRA, controlling your brain Suggestive thinking, causing your perspective to change They wanna rearrange the whole point of view of the ghetto The fourth branch of the government, want us to settle A bandana full of glittering, generality Fighting for freedom and fighting terror, but what's reality? Read about the history of the place that we live in And stop letting corporate news tell lies to your children [Verse 2] Flow like the blood of Abraham through the Jews and the Arabs Broken apart like a woman's heart, abused in a marriage The brink of holy war, bottled up, like a miscarriage Embedded correspondents don't tell the source of the tension And they refuse to even mention, European intervention Or the massacres in Jenin, the innocent screams U.S. manufactured missles, and M-16's Weapon contracts and corrupted American dreams Media censorship, blocking out the video screens A continent of oil kingdoms, bought for a bargain Democracy is just a word, when the people are starvin' The average citizen, made to be, blind to the reason A desert full of genocide, where the bodies are freezin' And the world doesn't believe that you fightin' for freedom Cause you ****** the Middle East, and gave birth to a demon It's open season with the CIA, bugging my crib Trapped in a ghetto region like a Palestinian kid Where nobody gives a **** whether you die or you live I'm tryin' to give the truth, and I know the price is my life But when I'm gone they'll sing a song about Immortal Technique Who beheaded the President, and the princes and sheiks You don't give a **** about us, I can see through your facade Like a fallen angel standing in the presence of God ***** niggaz scared of the truth, when it looks at you hard [Hook] It's like MK-ULTRA, controlling your brain Suggestive thinking, causing your perspective to change They wanna rearrange the whole point of view in the ghetto The fourth branch of the government, want us to settle A bandana full of glittering, generality Fighting for freedom and fighting terror, but what's reality? Martial law is coming soon to the hood, to kill you While you hanging your flag out your project window [Talking] Yeah.. The fourth branch of the government AKA the media Seems to now have a retirement plan for ex-military officials As if their opinion was at all unbiased A machine shouldn't speak for men So shut the **** up you mindless drone! And you know it's serious When these same media outfits are spending millions of dollars on a PR campaign To try to convince you they're fair and balanced When they're some of the most ignorant, and racist people Giving that type of mentality a safe haven We act like we share in the spoils of war that they do We die in wars, we don't get the contracts to make money off 'em afterwards! We don't get weapons contracts, nigga! We don't get cheap labor for our companies, nigga! We are cheap labor, nigga! Turn off the news and read, nigga! Read... read... read... Jakehammaren
First off - Rhym, hell yes on the song choice (as usual). The Drapery Falls has seriously got to be one of the most incredible and moving songs ever written as far as I'm concerned. Anyway, I can't really tell if this is for "favorite song" or "relate to song", because a bit of both seems to be going on. I don't know why I care too much, because I doubt anyone will read this. :animesigh Oh well. This one's called "This Godless Endeavor" by metal band Nevermore. I've picked it because, like many, I am tormented by spiritual questions. NEVERMORE - THIS GODLESS ENDEAVOR And on the open road we came to a sign For it was foretold that the weak would inherit And nothing would change Here we are at the crossroads, standing face to back Still afraid to see our eyes I feel helpless and alone, trapped on the third stone Sitting here sideways on the cold stone floor My guitar gently bleeding and wanting more When I heard a sound of rapping, Tapping on my door Hello, I'm happy to meet you [In your confidence is it safe?] Sit down, I'm happy to greet you [To feed your greedy dog at the edge of the stage?] But before, before you slam the door Tell me when, tell me why, tell me what this f-cking life is for We fly through this godless endeavor We try to explain the black forever I feel helpless and alone, trapped on the third stone I feel permanently stoned, this godless endeavor the only cage I've known Our organic equation has shown it's flaw Can we agree to disagree on the concept of god? As I lifted up my brother he said to me "Abandon naive realism, surrender thought in cold precision" I feel empty and deranged, denied one last epiphany and ushered from the stage Thou shalt not question! The role of science is not to eliminate god As alternative gods multiply science stands accused of theocide Consume, conform The children sitting in the trees, they turn to laugh at me They tell me that I'm insane, but in my mind I know I'm to blame Alone within my lunacy, dementia fills the void within me No testament, prayer or diseased lament can heal my wounds They are so discontent All the faithful fall onto their knees And praise the priests of industrial disease We contemplate oblivion as we resonate our dissonance In godless random interpretation The universe still expands Mankind still can't understand how to define you So hide your face and watch us exterminate ourselves over you Welcome to the end my friend, the sky has opened
