Telling us that a band or a song is awesome doesn't tell us what we need to buy. So, here's a thread for the best CDs ever, in your opinion.

1. The Gorillaz ~ Demon Days

The Demon Days CD masterfully bends genres and breaks away from the average in an orchestral style masterpiece, deviating from the average.

Intro - 1: 08

Standard Intro

Last Living Souls - 3:16

A very light song full of precussion instruments and keyboards, with calm lyrics.

Kids With Guns - 3:51

A heavy piece full of all kinds of bass and low keyboard. Lyrics are sung in a deep voice until the chorus where it gets higher, and ends with a highly instrumental run full of overlaping voices.

O Green World - 4:37

Lots of guitar with a sort of hymn of voices in the background and an on-and-off bass along occasional keyboarding. Small verses are scattered throughout the song.

Dirty Harry - 3:49

Begins with a heavy bass and a lot of light keyboarding and joined by the voices of a childrens choir. After about two minutes, the music changes slightly and a rap verse is sung before returning to the choir for the end.

Feel Good Inc. - 3:45

Honestly, who hasn't heard this song? Anyway, it begins with a deep bass, keyboard, and shifting instrument. After a bit it is joined by a mellow hip-hop style verse which sounds like it's sung through a turned-down megaphone. The music then calms down, inviting soft keyboard playing under an acoustic guitar. The music speeds up for a rap verse, comes back down for a longer acoustic part, then returns to the origional beat under maniacle laughter.

El' Manana - 3:56

A beautiful ballad with tons of keyboard and light bass. The verses are sung in a quiet sad voice and retains it's form throughout the entirety of the song.

Every Planet We Reach Is Dead - 4:58

Opens with bass, keyboard, and what I assume is guitar. The tune shifts for a very low sung slow verse. After repeating this process, the melody slows down inviting a hum of background singers and piano under another verse then the pace quickens up again and begins a roughly 21/2-minute orchestral length.

November Has Come - 2:47

The music is comprised of a simplistic beat, light keyboards, and hand claps. It begins with a rap verse, hits a calm chorus, then another rap vese, then another chorus along with smooth background singing.

All Alone - 3:35

Begins with some strange horn noise over strong bass and is joined with keyboard as the rap verse kicks in with music that actively follows the lyrics. After the chorus, the music calms down into a short verse in a calm girl's voice, then the music picks up again into the chorus with extra instruments.

White Light - 2:13

A dance song comprised of a steady beat and keyboard noises along with the words "white light" and "alchohol" strewn throughout.

DARE - 4:08

Another dance song with a steady beat and keyboards. The lyrics are a combination of a girl's and guy's voice sung throughout most of the song in a sort of love-shack style. Kudos to anyone who can figure the secret meaning behind the lyrics.

Fire Comin Out of a Monkey's Head - 3:20

A constant beat along with multiple keyboards and the hum of background singers is overshadowed by a man telling the story of the Happy Folk, stopping twice for the sing versus.

Don't Get Lost In Heaven - 2:05

An orchestral ounding upbeat and happy tune with light but demented lyrics overtop in a sort of Beetles fashion. The chorus is sung by a sort of choir. The song ends abruptly to transfer into

Demon Days - 1:46

The continuation of Don't Get Lost In Heaven with lots of violins and such instruments played in a soothing melody along with a strange quiet voice singing the lyrics.

I'll be back with another CD.

Ok, for me, it has to be the absolutely underrate classic from the Tragically Hip:

Fully Completely (1992)

1. Courage (For Hugh MacLennan)

One of the greatest songs the Hip ever wrote... it combines a very catchy tune with beautifully written and deep lyrics, dedicated to Mr. Hugh MacLennan. Incredible opener to an album that never slows down (Recomended for DOWNLOADING, NOW, QUICKLY, BEFORE YOUR HEAD EXPLODES!) 10/10

2. Looking for a Place to Happen

Guitarists Bobby Baker and Paul Langlois do some of their best work in another classic. The song is about the voyage of Jaques Cartier and the colonization of North America (Mainly Canada!). Great tune, and great vocals from Gord Downie to go along with his superb lyrics - the usual! 9/10

3. At the Hundredth Meridian

This song is less deep than the other ones from Fully Completely, but is still a great song. It flows well, and really captivates you. Good vocals and some fairly simple but effective lyrics. Not the albums best but definatly a keeper! 7/10

4. Pigeon Camera

This song is... different. It's a very slow song, showing more of Gord Downie's versatility as a vocalist and lyricist. It tells the story of their producer's affair with his... sister, when they were children. Ya, kinda creepy - so let's go with the literal interpretation. Pigeon Camera's were actual pigeons with cameras attatched that were used for survailence in WW2. Great song! 9/10

5. Lionized

Fast paced and very, very catchy, Lionized shows off some of Downie's more abstract lyrical ability. The lyrics seem to flow, you seem to understand them, but they really make little sense unless you pick it apart line-by-line. It's just one of those songs that makes you go 'Ya, ya, ya *headbob*, ya, don't stop a-rockin!' Plus I love when Downie yells 'Liiiiioooonized'. 10/10

6. Locked in the Trunk of a Car

Again, one of those songs that's just... different. It involves some of the best instrumentation the boys have managed to put together, and the lyrics are again deep in a very strange way. This is one of the harder to explain songs, because it does have depth, but it's kind of an inside-joke type of thing. Still an amazing song and fun to listen to! 10/10

7. We'll go Too

Not a deep song... there are no discernable references like there are in other songs, but it's got a very catchy tune with some more of Downie's abstract lyrics... his vocals are incredibly catchy in this one as well, one of those easy-to-listen-to songs. 8/10

8. Fully Completely

The title track of the album... and it's best. Not deep, not in any way I or anyone else can tell, but damn does it rock! The lyrics are brilliant, even if they don't seem relevent, and the tunes are just incredible! 'Either it'll move me, or it'll move right through me'! 12/10

9. 50 Mission Cap

Not really a song a lot of people would get. I don't personally mind it, the tunes are ok and the lyrics aren't bad, but it pales in comparison to their other work. 6/10

10. Wheat Kings

If this album didn't already have Courage and Fully Completely than this would definatly be the number one track! It tells the true-to-life story of David Miligard, a man who was passing through Winnipeg when he was fasley accused and imprisoned for rape. He spent 25 years in prison, before finally being released; DNA tests had proven he was innocent. He got 10 million dollars but he'll never get his life back. By far the most touching and emotional song on the record, just incredible. 10/10

In his Zippo lighter, he sees the killer's face
Maybe it's someone standing in a killer's place
Twenty years for nothing, well that's nothing new,
besides, No one's interested in something you didn't do

11. The Wherewithal

A fun song that really isn't that deep but just fun to listen to, great tune, and just fun to listen to. Good lyrics and strong tune but just not the same as other Hiptunes. 6/10

12. Eldorado

I love this song. Not deep and not overly remarkable, but just great. Fun to listen to, and it delves into the past of the hip; some lyrics like 'Just the mention of Berlin makes me sexy' date back to memorable tours and gigs. 9/10

http://www.hipmuseum.com/fullylb.html

INCREDIBLE album. I've never heard a better album in my life. It's full of great songs and incredible lyrics, with some of the strongest vocals you're likely to find - Gord Downie is a genius!

Ooh, fun. I chose one of my favorite albums yet.

Ayumi Hamasaki - I am...

1. I am... (5:31)
A song, starting off calm and slightly mysterious, and then during chorus guitar and drums; a good change for the song. Her voice in the song isn't too too powerful, but it makes a nice impact. 7/10

2. opening Run (0:57)
No vocal, but fast paced, easy listening to, with various sounds. Personally, it reminds me of running through green plains with a slightly cloudy atmosphere. 10/10

3. Connected (3:21)
This song is probably one of the more different songs on the album. Rather then percussion, etc., it has more of an electronic feel, and considerably shorter then most songs released. 9/10

4. UNITE! (4:59)
A kind of fast paced song, but fun none the less with a more rock-based background, and a cool mini instrumental towards the three-minute mark. 8/10

5. evolution (4:41)
No doubt, most Ayu fans should know this song. Calm in the beginning, but then progresses, becoming more upbeat and adding instruments. Her voice sounds more 'nasally' in this one, though, not good on her part. Similar to the previous song, but if I were to choose evolution would beat it. 8/10

6. Naturally (4:17)
Like Connected, Naturally has a more electronic feel, but is longer and she sings more in this one. It's basically straightforward, but not too bad of a song none the less. 7/10

7. NEVER EVER (4:41)
It's cute. The beginning has a cute feel to it, along with almost every other part besides the chorus. Like I am..., when the chorus comes drums and guitars come in. Pretty nice vocal, and fits with the music. 8/10

8. still alone (5:56)
Unlike the previous songs, this rock song approaches a more 'sad' theme, and quite frankly one of the best songs on the CD. Voice strained towards the end, but otherwise a good song that accompanies a rainy or cloudy day. 9/10

9. Daybreak (4:48)
Not exactly a rock song, because of the pop feeling. Upbeat, but not really classified as a really 'fun' song. Although, nice after played 'still alone'. 7/10

10. taskinlude (1:20)
I really don't know how to classify this interlude. It's a mixture of sounds that's straightforward. It's not as interesting as opening Run in my opinion, and I usually skip it. 5/10

11. M (4:28)
M has got to be one of the more powerful songs of this CD. Rather then usual chorus every other couple of verses, it only appears at the middle-end, and it gives quite a great impact. It has a good beat, and voice with it sounds good together. 9/10

12. a song is born (6:17)
Pretty simple, but her vocal is better in this song. She lets it reach high during parts, but it manages to stay low at the same time. No sudden guitars or drums, which makes the single with Keiko a bit more interesting then the solo song. 7/10

13. Dearest (5:33)
One of the more famous ballads, Dearest is calm, but has some beauty to it. Nice and slow, and keeps that pace throughout the song. 7/10

14. no more words (5:47)
Nice and soft, and may I say I prefer it over Dearest. It starts off for about a minute calm with no big 'impacts', but rather for me an image of dawn. Then instruments come in, followed by her voice. A pretty song indeed. 9/10

15. Endless sorrow - gone with the wind ver. (8:17)
Unlike the original, it's more 'natural', and rather a more pop feel then the rock feel in the original. It's a pretty, light song. 8/10

SECRET TRACK - flower garden
Oh man, this is a fun song. Always upbeat, it's fast, and the vocals other then hers fit the feel of the song well. Such a disappointement it was so short, but it was good while it lasted. 9/10

I sound like I made more of a review, but oh well. Wonder how long I spent writing this..><

The Best Albam for me is Billy Idols Devil's Playground. I love this albam because of the beautiful lyrics. I will tell what each songs seem to mean to me, unlike the others that have told about the guitars and the other points.
1. Super Overdrive
A great song that tells that Billy Idol is back and is going to make up for the 12 years that he has been gone. It also tells that he back and hes going to show all these new artist how to be a rock star.
2. World Comin' Down
This song tells about how all the worlds problems like school and goverment is makeing it feel like the world is coming down on a person. This also says that even though there is so many problems you should still enjoy yourself.
3. Rat Race
Rat Race tells how ever thing is going to fast and people need to just slow down. It also tells that even when people are trying to do this but they still become part of the rat race.
4. Sherri
Tells how there was this girl that he was with for some years and then she left him. Billy Idol then tells of some of the thing that happens to him after she left him.
5. Plastic Jesus
This song is about how he has a plastic Jesus in his car. He gives this plastic Jesus the credit for helping him out when he was drunk.
6. Scream
Now this song is very misleding because the words are so good and the music makes you want to sing along. Once you find out what some of the words mean then you might stil sing along to them but if you are a girl its pretty wierd to sing along to.
7. Yellin' At The X-mas Tree
This is a new Chrismas song that tells of a hateful chrismas. He tells of how the father is a drunk and comes home one chrismas eve or day (not sure which) and starts to yell at the chrismas tree. It's kind of fuuny sense the album was relesed in March and there is a Chrismas song on it.
8. Romeo's Waiting
The lyrics tell how he is Mr. Romeo and that he want to be with this girl and how he will keep waiting for her. The othter thing that I get from this song is that she already has a boyfriend and he does not want to make an enemy
9. Body Snatcher
This song is hard to explain it tells of a fantasy aspect. He talks about the creatures that we fear when its dark like demons and stuff. Billy Idol tells them that they sould not fear the creatures of the dark.
10. Evil Eye
Evil Eye is about this beautiful woman that is going though a hard time and these guys wont leave her alone. Luckly for her all she has to do is give them the evil eye and they leave her alone.
11. Lady Do Or Die
This song is the begining to the slow songs and is a little country to it. The song is set in a western setting. Thats all I can tell ypu because I never understood this one. I just like the way it sounds.
12. Cherie
The second slow song and another love song about this woman named Cherie that he had breaked up with. Billy Idol tells how he was wring to break up with her and is still love with her but he hopes that she is happy with her new boyfriend.
13. Summer Running
Last song and last slow song that right in the middle turns in to fast then back to slow. Its tells of how he followed this girl that he was with to where ever it is that she wanted to go. He also tells of how he is done looking to the past and he does not what will happen in the future but what ever it is he will face it.
