Panache
Has anybody sen the new thinpack anime dvd's? There friggin awesome. Generally they shave around 50 dollars from an entire series price tag + they save a bunch of space. I mean there awesome right?
Dagger
Thinpaks are nice, to be sure, but I don't think ADV did themselves a favor by releasing so many of them in such a short period of time. One of ADV's head honchos has stated that they'll be changing their thinpak policy in the future, as a matter of fact; I can only assume this means they'll implement a longer gap between the final volume of a series and its thinpak set. I strongly disliked the whole extras-stripping thing until I realized that I don't care that much about extras to begin with, haha. Ultimately, though, anything that allows people to get their hands on great shows like Kaleido Star, Kino's Journey, Pretear, Evangelion Platinum, etc. for such a low price is definitely worthwhile. ~Dagger~
hey_love
Mhmm, ADV released quite the amount of thinpacks that I've bought. I've gotten series like DNAngel, Pretear and Super Gals! for pretty good prices. Plus, whenever I buy it at Best Buy, the anime DVDs there are usually 20% cheaper. So not only are those boxsets cheap to begin with, but the store adds discount to the prices. Amazing. :animesmil
Panache
ADV is gonna stop NOOOO!!!!!! Why the hell would they do that god dammit there my favorite anime company (after manga of course). Well now I gotta go and buy them the old fashion 100 bucks for 4 dvds route, what a bunch of meanies.
Dagger
Hey, now, that's simply my assumption based on that line about changing their policy. So take it with a grain of salt. (And even then, I never said I thought they would completely stop putting out thinpaks...) EDIT: You like Mangle? :animestun ~Dagger~

Dagger
Whew you scared me. I take take the word of admin very seriously so please don't scare me like that.
If you had actually read what I wrote, it wouldn't have been a problem. :p Continuing with the main topic... At the moment I just own three thinpaks (Sailor Moon S, Sailor Moon SuperS and Azumanga Daioh), and only one of them is from ADV. There aren't that many ADV thinpaks I have my eye on, either, since I already have the singles for most of the shows I'd be interested in. But the thinpak wave has changed my buying habits considerably. I imagine I'm not the only one, either. Last year, I collected a lot of ADV series as they came out; this year, I've cut back to the bare minimum in favor of "waiting for the thinpak." Of course, I doubt that's what ADV really wants to hear, heh. ~Dagger~
Sayuri-sama
actually i really like the thin pack dvds a lot! i currently own the azumanga daioh and the sailor moon S thin packs! they are so convinient. being the fact that i have so much junk on my book shelf already. what sucks is that you dont get the reverse covers like on the regular dvds :animedepr lol! but they are great none the less:animesmil
Panda
I have mixed feelings on thinpacks right now since we are in that funny transition period. I have always bought the first disk, plus collector's box and extras. I have quiet a few collections that are in mid collection. Having already started collecting the DVD's and invested a lot of money in those sets the onslaught of thinpacks makes me feel like I've been cheated. Cheapers, space saving and the entire series. This does not help those of us who were buying the full disks one by one as we got the money to spend. Now it's become harder to find the missing disks since retailers are opting for the space saving better bang for your buck thinpacks. I would have been fine if they would have waited just a bit longer before releasing all the thinpacks. I already felt like I've been cheated by buying all the Gantz DVD's and now it's in a thinpack. I know once I do finally finish collecting those box sets I've started I'll try to wait for thinpacks. But old habits die hard and I'm sure I'll end up buying those starter set DVD's in the collector's boxes. On the plus side I picked up Chrono Crusade in the thinpack today at a very reasonable price. :catgirl:
