Indeed. You need to specify stuff. Honestly, your thread was so vague. But its ok because I love MCR too. Hang 'em high is good if you like to head-bang, like me. Cemetary drive is nice also. Their new CD isn't as good as the old one is. Honestly, a five and a half minute song is too long. My attention span is that of a gopher. The old CD rocked my face off and back on.

kittybloomes, I agree that your thread is too vague, if you want to talk about a band you gotta keep the thread interesting and open to lots of discussion, otherwise it will be closed.
But I also love MCR so it's all good!
I agree Farto (heh.. Fart..), Hang 'Em High is probably one of my favorite songs, as well as Thank You For the Venom... "Hallelujah, Lock and Load!"
I haven't heard much of their old album, only a couple songs, but I really like it too. I'm really diggin "Honey, This Mirror isn't Big Enough For the Two of Us"
I've seen them live too, at Taste of Chaos, it was effin' rad. The Under Pressure cover with The Used rocks my toe socks.

I respect them as a band that has come very far in their success, I do.

Personally, I don't like them. I think their sound is too common--I believe they've just followed the rising trend that is power-pop. They classify themselves as a Rock/Metal/Post-Hardcore band--and it's not true. If anything, it would be better to just classify themselves as Rock--or what they truly are, a Power-Pop band.

I'm not trying to bash on them--they're a good band that have become very successful, I just don't like them.

See, again, we seem to have the same taste in music skeith, that makes me happy that I'm not alone on this bored in regards to music taste!

One thing I do like about the newer album, is that although it doesn't have the hard sound that I like about the older stuff that I've heard, I like how upbeat it is, and I guess as a girl, I like to dance around my little apartment, and I can do that to MCR :catgirl:

MCR isn't emo. They're pop-punk, or powerpop, depends on who you ask. Means the same thing.

Yes, their sound is common, but a lot of their songs just have that zing to them that makes them stand out, I guess. While I'm not a huge fan of them, I've certainly heard worse. I don't know why they're bashed like they are, for the genre and the marketing, they aren't bad. Helena is damn catchy, honestly.

And if you like My Chemical Romance, you might want to try Christiansen or Kaddisfly. They're a lot better in my opinion, just harder to find.

Yeah, like stated before, they are Power-Pop already. If it becomes a disgrace to fans because it sounds too "poppy," then maybe they should take a closer listen to them. They are a power-pop band as it is, and I don't expect the 3rd album to be any different.

I luv My Chemical Romance (yea "MCR" is alot shorter).
Although i prefer their old songs more. Alot of people in my school only know
them for their NEW songs...sucks :animesigh .
My favorite song would have to be Vampires can't hurt you and Headfirst for Halos.
Ghost of you and Cemetery drive are too nice songs...i guess.
Oh, yes, Gerard Way is...MINE.

They aren't the best band in the world...
But I still love them.
I didn't pay much attention to their first cd, I didn't bother buying it. My sister just burnt me an iTunes cd of the new one (her friend gave her about 600 songs).
But the Helena video is just awesome. It's so well put together. I never get tired of watching it.

They are very good.
I must say I was expecting a lot more from "Life on The Murder Scence". I figured there would be some good, new music. But its all songs from their other CDs.
I must say I was a little upset.

My little sister loves 'em too (9 year old head-banger...who would have thought it). Especially Hang 'Em High because her name (Mariah) is in the song.

My favorite song is "To The End". I love all the...lines associating weddings and funerals.

My Chemical used to be a really awesome band. When they first came out they had an original sound and a unique-ish look. I saw MCR at Taste of Chaos last and Under Pressure was amazing, and I saw them at Warped Tour 2004, almost two years ago and they rocked.

Although lately, I can't even stand to hear someone talk about them. My Chemical has just mainstreamed and changed their image, sound, and personality. Gerard Way (Singer) talked about getting over his horrible drug problems in AP (Alternative Press) and all this kind of crap. When I saw MCR just this last summer at Warped 2005, Gerard was hammered, it was obvious that he was drunker than belief and his singing was horrible. So much for sobering up. It was also pretty interesting that MCR played on the smallest stage in 2004 at Warped Tour, and then a year later, they were headlining. The main feature.

Also, The Used and MCR don't even communicate anymore (even after their success on TOC together). MCR needs to lose their ego, and the Used needs to get over the fact that MCR is more worshipped than they are.

I don't usually use the term because I hate it, but My Chemical Romance really are a bunch of sellouts...

i only like MCR for two of their songs:

1. Helena
2. Astro Zombies

their image is not cool, noir is it different.

they dont sound too great as a live act.

im always confused about what genre they fall under, are they emo or punk?

my friend is a MAJOR fan of them, he's managed to convense the reamining five of my friends that they are the best band in the world.

im against them, because they are mainstream, almost everyone i know say, that i have no taste in rock music just because i dont listen to them. WTF.

:animeangr

i hate them

in my own opinon, they only have 10.00$ or 5 pounds to their name.

thank you for your time.

No taste in rock music? There are people who actually think MCR is rock?

I'd say 'unbelievable' but strangly I'm not surprised.

I just have a quick question.
Two actually.

First, does it really matter what genre someone is? As long as their music is something you like for it being good music, isn't that all that matters?

And as for "selling out", is it really something that can be helped? I mean, not all people go into the music industry to make money and gain fame, they just want to make music. But once something of yours gets picked up by someone big, your song goes to the Top 5 or higher, you can't stop the climb. Is it really fair to disown a band or group just because they "sold out"?

I don't really want to start a debate on this, I was just sort of wondering. If anyone else wants to get in a debate this, go right ahead.

No, I completely agree with you Momiji that the idea of selling out is ridiculous, because a really good band will probably sell out if they are really good. I believe you should listen to whatever band you want whether or not MTV is playing their latest video. That's not really my idea of selling out, even though all the hardcore kids think it is.

Selling out to me is when you change something once you're at the top, ie: MCR. Sorry to say but MCR has really changed since just 2 years ago. Their sound is different now, not as edgy, and they have a big ego. I talked to Gerard at Warped 2004, but he wouldn't even take the time to talk to fans this last summer. If they could lose the ego and just keep to what got them big in the first place, they wouldn't be sellouts.

And until they realize it, I'm gonna keep calling them that...

Let's see what you guys think of this band when you see....This! ...MCR searches on the interent always turn out to have something strange on one of the links for some reason...LOL.

Hmm, I love MCR, they are one of my fave bands, but sadly they are being overrun with posers. :animesmil ...poserlcious people call me weird...It's funny ccause in another week, MCR'll probably be a trend again. Heh.

My favorite song is "You know what they do to guys like us in prison" I love the soothing sounds, turning into screaming, and techno girly voices, with a added effect from the lil girl laugh at the end. That was tight. :animesmil Heh. (I always put heh at the end of a paragraph)

Hang 'em high is an awesome song too...'cause lord knows how many times I've wanted to be a cowboy.
